Hi! I wanted to thank you for sharing this video. I am using Mandala cake and an H hook to make this pattern. It is going very well--except for one thing. I am about halfway done, and the top isn't straight across--when I hold it up in front of me and stretch it out, the top edge gradually goes up into a gentle little hill at the center beginning ring and then back down again at the other corner. I think it will look fine when it is worn, but did I do something wrong? I am counting my rows each time to make sure I am even on each side and they are increasing the way they are supposed to. I would like to make this pattern again, but if I goofed up I would like to not repeat that! I've never blocked an item, and since this is acrylic I don't know how much it would help it anyway. Thank you again for sharing.

What you described happens sometimes. As long as your increases are correct and it's only a gradual slope it shouldn't matter.

Thanks! Even though I have been crocheting for years, this is my first shawl. I am making it for my daughter for her birthday on the 30th. I am already halfway done, and have only been working on it for two days. It is working up really quickly! I see more shawls in my future! Again, thank you for the pattern and thank you for your response to my inquiry.

This happened to me too, but it’s a great pattern.

Out of curiosity, why do you yarn under in the middle of your double crochets? I have never seen that before and even went back and rewatched the videos I used to teach myself and they all always yarn over... does it help the stitches or serve some sort of purpose?

That was just how I was taught! :-)

I AM MAKING MY DAUGHTER THIS & THE COCOON CARDIGAN AS BIRTHDAY GIFTS. I WANT TO DO A 4X CARDIGAN FOR A FRIEND OF MINE, BUT NOT SURE HOW MANY ROWS TO PUT IN IT FOR A 4X SIZE PERSON. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Margaret - you're asking about the granny square cocoon cardigan, yes? I'm not familiar with size 4X but I found some info here: www.sizecharter.com/clothing-fit-and-measurement/plus-size-clothing-sizing-works. Basically, instead of making a square, you're going to want to make a rectangle that's wider than it is tall. Start by making a square that's half the wearer's height plus a couple inches, as the pattern describes. Then add an equal number of rows on each side to make it a rectangle. It's not so much number of rows as number of inches. Assuming the chart in the link above is correct and the largest measurements for a 4X is 57.5", I might make the width of the rectangle about 10" less, but that's just a guesstimate. Hope this helps.

Would you say this is an easy project for a starting crochet artist?
@SpoonsHooks7 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you're comfortable with all the stitches (which are all basic) and you've been crocheting long enough that you've developed a consistent tension, this would be a good project.
