This is an VERY impressive time, especially being a sedan. Progress is unrelenting. Then I recall Circa 1996, and a "276hp"( 320bhp) R33 GTR running sub-8. To this day I'm blown away by the slew of cars dipping into that under 8 minutes time. It's amazing we can get that performance for cost. God bless the Horsepower wars.

I can tell you with great certainty that it WON'T be any quicker on of-the-counter Cup 2s, since these P Zero Corsas were tailor-made for the M5 CS. The Tyre Reviews KZbin channel did an excellent video on the difference between the OE Michelin 4S and off-the-counter 4S tyres for the new M3, I highly recommend you check it out.

In Europe main land on Michelins. Joe Achilles changed them immediatly to Michelin PS4s tyres, because he didn't find the P Zero's that good. Even Shmee150 was talking about to change the tyres on his M3 the Michelin CUP 2, because he didn't found the confidence in the Pirelli's. That's what got me wondering what would it do on Michelin CUP 2. I'm not a tyres expert, but what I have seen over the years is that cars standard equipt with Pirelli's P Zero perform better when they are equipt with Michelin. It's even happening by Porsche, many Porsche are delivered on Conti's as standard. But many of Porsche owners change them to Michelin, because it works better. I'm sorry if my Englisch isn't that good, it's not my original language, because that's Dutch.

Also, cars from the dealer that MIGHT NOT arrive with the exact tyres that were tailor-made for them (could be down to many reasons) =/= press cars reserved for the magazines to test, that NOT ONLY are always equiped with them, but often also aided by extra technical support from factory technicians. Also, testimonials from puplic personalities =/= conclusions derived from through performance testing. I challenge you to find somebody who sets better lap times than Randy Pobst with off-the-counter Michelins in any the non-GT3 992 911s so far that ALL come with P Zeros from factory.

Christian is an excellent driver, on any other day. However, I have also observed that it should be just as apparent for all of us to see that, unfortunately, while he was driving the M5 CS in contrast to the AMG, this time he had a lot of fidgeting with his arms and the wiring harness for his helmet. Let alone the cubbyhole. Twice! Yes, he is a professional. But that's a high speed circuit that demands and deserves a driver's undivided attention. Moreso, whilst driving one of the leading (fastest) sedans on the Nurburgring. PS: pertinent stats. AMG GT 63 s - 7:27 Stats: 639 HP, 900NM F90 cs - 7:29 Stats: 635 HP, 750NM + slightly lesser car weight. Difference: HP = 4; NM = 150 in favour of AMG.

Normally the OEM time is at least 5 seconds faster than Sport auto time. What's the Sport Auto laptime of GT63s?

The officially measured and notary-certified values are: 7:23,009 min for the 20.6-kilometre-long version (without straight-line measurement for track section T13) and 7:27,800 min for the 20.832-kilometre-long complete track (with straight-line measurement for track section T13). Exactly this variant and this lap time is officially listed by Nürburgring GmbH on their homepage. And I believe Sports Auto does for the 20.832KM.

Usually manufacture times are 10s faster because they go tits out insane. If it crashes there is no problem. Autosport test the GT63 had a 7:34, so the M5 is quicker

@@abayamangali E63 S is not at all the rival for the M5 CS, the M5 Competition is rival for the E63 S. There have no laptimes done with the E63 S sedan to compare with that of the M5 Competition's, so one cannot say the E63 S is slower on this track. The M8 GC & M5 are the same car with different roof styling and the CS is lighter than the M8 GC Competition and the GT63 S, and priced close to the GT63 S, so makes sense to compare the M5 CS with the GT63 S and not the E63 S.

It's funny how Mercedes fanboys cry when you tell them P Zero's are much slower tires than Cup 2's, and that on Cup 2's, this M5 would be quicker than the GT63. They act dumb and ignore the fact tires can mean 10 seconds of a difference on such a long track. Oh and, at least this BMW's interior doesn't creak and squeak like a Dacia, I mean, a Mercedes.

Then it doesn't surprise me that you believe a set of off-the-counter Cup 2s would be better for the M5 CS than it's OE tyres (ironic thing is, THEN it really wouldn't be a fair fight, since the GT 63's tailor-made Cup 2s are most definitely better than what you can buy from store)... You can't compare company claimed laptime to sport auto's. The company's own will always be quicker. And with the fact that this car is only about 2 seconds behind company claimed amg gt63s 4door laptime shows that this car is most likely faster than the AMG. As you might have known, the gap between claimed laptime and sport auto's is rather huge. Guaranteed to be more than just 2 seconds.

I looked at what lap times Christian Gebhardt did and what lap times manufactures did with the same car. And i ageee you are right. The M4 GTS Sports Auto 7min37 BMW 7min27, Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2) Sports Auto 6min58 Porsche 6min47, Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) Sports Auto 7min05 Porsche 6min56. On average Sports Auto is about 10 seconds a lap slower than manufactureres. So maybe if BMW could do a lap with the M5 CS it could be a 7min19 lap time.
