Bringing Kristaps Porziņģis and Jrue Holiday to Celtics made huge impact on the Team gameplan. JT and JB received now more space, the ball moving has become swift and the cross attacks through the paint ar absolutely devastating for the opponents. And now, even if Kristaps is out due to some injury or Jrue is having rest, the team continues to play this new gameplan and it works properly. This is the main impact what KP and JH have brought to the team. And the role players also are more motivated to lift up their efficiency. Now Celtics has not only the leading duo, they have multiple "leading duos" like "Cookies and Cream" for example.

Not saying I want this to happen because that’s fucked up to wish upon a team, but I’ll just be happy if Boston fails to go back to back when everyone expects it to happen. If not that, then possibly they won’t have the same energy going back into the playoffs, or another team in the East could rise up to stop them (wanna say the Knicks but until they could fill in their center depth more by looking for a good player to fill that hole, then maybe, just maybe but I don’t know), or if that fails then a team in the west gonna have to stop them (Either OKC, Dallas, given they improved their rosters this offseason, or Minnesota or Denver if all are fully healthy and can make it out the west), but can’t know now when the season hasn’t started back up yet

If he's gone, suddenly we have a massive gap in our frontcourt depth, and I really can't think of a replacement with a similar profile. He's still a great defender, even out on the perimeter, and he spaces out the floor, just can't think of anyone similar out there that could be available, and even if such a player exists he surely won't come for cheap. Not to mention the huge loss in leadership, hustle, the little things you can't put in spreadsheets. There’s something about the team getting expensive: they have all their first rounders until 2029. Unlike other expensive teams, they didn’t give up a lot of picks to get their star players. They groomed theirs. The moment rotations guys get too expensive, they will just replace them with younger and cheaper ones so they can pay the top 3 guys. You are locked for at least 3 more years with this core while they are all in their prime. That’s basically what happened with the Warriors after their first title.

And to manage to get the complementary pieces when they're over the cap. Having said that, nothing promises they're even making the finals next year. Stop with the "easy path". Boston was up 2-1 on Cle and 2-0 on Indiana before they had guys get injured. And the assumption that "Miami would have beat Boston with Butler", when Boston added Jrue Holiday from the last time they played Miami in the playoffs, is absurd. This Boston team was COMPLETELY different than the one that lost to Miami in 2022-2023. That year, Boston relied on Marcus Smart/Grant Williams. Think about that for a moment. Marcus Smart was looked as a "defensive guru", when his last year in Boston, his defensive efficiency ranked him 8th on his own team and his offense was erratic. Let's be honest, every time Smart launched a 3 pointer, we all threw up in our mouths a little. This entire sentiment that "Marcus" was the heart and soul, was complete garbage. It was simply our way of excusing off lack of ability, the same way people call slower white guys on defense (football) "high motor". White/Jrue is lightyears ahead of the duo of Smart/White. Not to mention that Joe had a full offseason to fully implement his system. No Celtic player nor Celt Fans should apologize for Boston's "path" to the title. That sentiment is media filled bullshit. T:27 Every championship team has had a long term core thing: Jokic/Murray/Gordon, Steph/Klay/Green were still talking Dynasty, Giannis/Middleton. For the past 3-4 years, people have been saying break up the duo. Now they're long-term?

Just last season the East had the 3 best records in the NBA. The east isnt weak. It was simply a down year, in large part due to injury, and off the court stuff.

Even to your point, you don't even have to trade the Jays if everyone gets a new contract. You would probably move on from holiday or white plus some role players. Hell, you'd probably move on from KP

You’re forgetting that jrue and horford are 50 years old each porzingis has injury issues and cap space to pay all these guys PP and hauser were also super important with their spacing and defense as well they will still have the J’s and white so they will be elite but the league as a whole right now is too talented for me to say they’ll repeat as champions especially when there’s teams like okc who have cap space and all the assets in the world and are 1 trade away from being a 70 win team or Dallas Denver NY Miami Milwaukee and Minnesota who are all still good teams that can make a big move and be in the finals the league right now is too good
@xeon09987 ай бұрын
I don't think any teams in the west, outside of Minnesota and Oklahoma would have stood a chance against the Celtics. They'd all die badly except those two. Ironically the Mavericks happened to have the one puzzle that no one out west can solve. Luka. In sports it's all about matchups, just cause I can beat you doesn't mean I can beat someone you can beat. Just my opinion

We also say every year that "x team is just different than the others", now they are a great team but we've seen time and time again how hard it is to repeat, and even these Cs had some luck on their side when things weren't going right for them. This dynasty talk is just not it
@AAblade77 ай бұрын
congrats to boston and yes I do expect them to be the top or at least top tier contender for at least 3 more years. That being said ‘Nightmare’? 1. You have no idea how this team will do next season. You’ve got Boston fans crowing about their team being amazing, but after 7 years of up and down performance the rest of us are like finally you actually did what you said you were going to do. Just take last season. They should have made the finals, but played way below their own level in the ECF. 2. You need to back and look at the money. This team was constructed mostly under the previous salary cap rules and they can easily maintain next season using the league minimum to fill out non rotation pieces. After that though? Keeping white will push the team to 185 million for 7 players in 25-26. Tatum staying the next season then drives you to 165 million+ for 6 players. Even if you can afford a 9 figure luxury tax the new rules really limit your ability to spend. Do I think boston will be an issue next season, sure. Do I think they are a dynasty? No the financial window closed on that 2 years ago.
