While I understand why the outside of the bag is critical for riders, I don't understand why reviews almost never talk about the inside of the bag. I always choose Kriega for my motor bags, because I trust them with the materials and safety choices, but what about the inside? Is this backback for me? Do I have a compartment for my laptop, etc?

Kriega's waterproof bags rely on a removable liner for rain protection so there's no laptop compartment etc to show on the inside. It's a waterproof liner bag that secures into the outer section by Velcro and there's no organiser within that. There's room in that bag for a 17in laptop and we have riders here who use an R22 to bring their laptop to work with them. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

I know it will vary from bike to bike, but any idea if these are designed to have clearance at the back over a bag on the pillion seat? This is a problem I've had when riding with a backpack and tail bag before, so I moved over to a tank bag instead!

I suspect it'd very difficult to try and design a rucksack to work with a tail bag, because it'll be so dependent on the riding position and the height of the tailbag. Kriega's adjustment system allows good tailoring of the height, so there's as good a chance with this as any rucksack I'd say. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

Would this bag be suitable for say a 4 day trip away? I am looking for a rucksack for small trips away and the R30 looks just a bit too big and the R20 isn't waterproof at all.

I think it'll be pretty tight for that, but if you're prepared to travel light then you could probably do it. A pair of size 9 trainers will just fit across the bottom and then you can put some light clothing in on top of that. The R30 would give you more room, and the straps let you compress it down to only be as big as you need it - but I can see the appeal of an R22 if you can get your stuff in there. Hope that helps. Tony, could this be used as a tail bag? As long as the shoulder straps can be tucked neatly under the bag, I'm assuming that this would work. Most tail bags that I've seen that come with shoulder straps would never be as comfortable as a backpack when compared to a Kriega. Thanks for the great review!

It's not designed to be used as a tail bag and it is quite long for that purpose. But the shoulder straps possibly would tuck away neatly enough if you wanted to try. I take your point about the shoulder straps on tail bags, which are a bit of an afterthought. If you do try it, good luck with it. Cheers, Tony

Been riding bikes 50 years, and with experience will never use them , long trips 350 miles+ , cross winds hit them adding to the barn door effect , better to use a roll top waterproof bag back seat or rack , got a 30 litre lomo I use , much better,never leaked as there designed for sailing ( can get pretty wet ) 😊😊

Hey, I quite like your reviews, they are detailed and point out the possible flaws as well. Just one suggestion, your voice modulation (from the beginning of the sentence towards the end) makes it difficult to understand as we reach the end of sentence.. Rest everything is superb :)

It is an improvement compared to the R25, but I am disappointed for two major reasons: This Kriega rucksack has 3 big storages. Only one is 100% waterproof; which is a shame. The other two, are good when it is drizzling, but will never withstand a heavy rain. All 3 big pockets should have been made 100% waterproof. Another point, the bag doesn't have a specific storage for a laptop, which is a shame. All that said, it is a nice bag, I am on the fence in terms of recommending. Kriega should have done a better job. To be honest Kriega is falling behind. the only thing they still have is their old reputation and quad lock system. They should wake up, otherwise they will disappear very soon!!
