On the 2 on 1 I would have loved to see Eichel fake pass and put it upstairs in the corner. He had space and time and with his shot, he could have easily scored. I love that he's become an assist machine, but I'm feeling like he should shoot more. Was awesome to see Blueger get a goal. He's been a chemistry guy and has done a great job defensively. Whitecloud & Hague are two of the most under-rated D in the league. They are solid and often contribute offensively. If the VGK can contain Hintz they should be able to win the series. If they ever get their PP sorted out look out.

7:48 Outside the blue paint and didn't affect the goalie's ability to ultimately stop the shot. The reason he was spinning wildly is because after the puck went behind the net the goalie mistakenly "read" the play as a wraparound and started to try and cover the far post, and Howden brought it back short side. Btw, for clarity watch it in slo mo and you'll see Howden's left skate never once entered the crease. You're welcome for the hockey lesson.

I know game 1s are usually each team feeling each other out but I like how Vegas played for most of the game and glad they got the win. Besides some failed clears, Hill with too many rebounds, and VGK letting their foot off the gas in the 3rd, they kept the pressure up. I expect Dallas to push back. It's going to be a great series. @James McKay if you look, the whole reason kolesar ran into Oett is cause his left skate was lifted off the ice. This was caused by the stick of Heiskanen first, then Suter made it worse by shoving him after he was already off balance headed into the crease. No goalie interference here, Kolesar had no ability to avoid contact Oettinger due to both Miro and Suter ergo it's a good goal.

looked like he thought it was a pass to the front and was trying to turn around as fast as possible and realized too late/midspin it was a bank shot off his own ass. I think it looked stupid the same way a soccer goalie falling the wrong way in a shoot out looks stupid: he thought he had the read and was wrong but if he wasn't he would've given himself the best chance to make a stop.

Not even close. I've said all season his injury changed him and he's not been close to the same player. Waaaaay too many 3-4+ goal games and they rarely win when he's that bad. 0-5 when allowing 4+ goals 2-5 when allowing 3+. 0-3 in OT and same in Game 1s these playoffs allowing 4 ga and a sv% below .900. NOT going to cut it.

They also weren’t giving up a million breakaways, 2 on 1’s, and 3 on 2’s last year. They need to tighten up but by no means should they go back to that purely defensive style tho. The way they play now, there is no way he will be as good as last year. For the most part he was pretty solid He gave them a chance to win but on that OT goal you cant have the whole team puck watching.

I HATE the play off overtime hockey rules. The regular season overtime is excellent. I’m not going to stay up all night to watch two teams exhausted try to score that final goal. It’s hard on the players and it’s boring. Do the regular season 3on 3 shoot out.

So, basically: just enter the zone with speed and Dallas becomes a junior hockey team. Great scouting by Vegas. Stars can't handle when a player enters the zone with speed, it creates instant chaos. 3 of the 4 goals came about that way. I love Miro and Hintz, but it shows that Heiskanen is playing way too much. He is worn out and 2 of the goals are on him, when he just glides around when Stars are under massive pressure.

Unless a miracle happens Vegas win this series. Having home ice, a ton of talent and winning Game 1 are factors that can be difficult for the best opponents to overcome. It wasn't. Heiskanen tripped Kolesar while he was driving towards the net (replay starting at 4:47), his stick got tangled up on Kolesar's skate. Dallas didn't even challenge it, they probably knew that they would've lost.

Literally 3 of the 4 goals were flukey.. 2 of them were bounces of the backboards that if they were replacable players would do it all the time and the other was arguably a no goal. At least more of a no goal than the actual no goal against Florida last night
