Looks like a good job Tig welding. A crusty old welder once told me when you prep for aluminum weld only use a clean stainless brush otherwise you will just waste your rod and time.

That's a good tip, I do ok with MiG, but this was way out of my wheelhouse!

The feeling of getting something up off the ground and removing the parts that allow said thing to be on the ground. The feeling of it coming off a lift without the wheels and tires as a buffer. You, sir, just encapsulated my fear of old vehicles or vehicles in general falling off lifts, blocks, and stands. Thanks for the new Buttcrack Cycles episode!

I have an 06 Sportster 1200 it runs fine for about 15 minutes of riding then wants to stall on me at a stop. I replaced petcock, spark plugs, cleaned carburetor. Would you have any ideas what could be wrong? Thank you!

Ignition getting hot and killing the spark? Really you just need to ride the bike until it cuts off then start diagnosing what you've lost: fuel, spark, etc

I'll also add it might be worth looking into your air/fuel mix. Seems like its getting too hot too quick which leads me to believe you might be running too lean on top of other issues you may be having. Have you also checked the oil by chance? Side note air/fuel is more or less idle. Make sure your slide and diaphragm are in working order. You may also need to adjust your needle or rejet depending on a few factors if it's a fuel issue

Don't feel bad about the alumaweld rods, I'm retired welder, fabricator, I've never been able to get them to work either. It's interesting and entertaining to watch others build a bike. With mine seems something always pulls me away. I enjoy building so I'm happy building till I'm finished. Keep posting. Thanks.

@@laurentruesdale4088 glad to know I'm not the only one who can't seem to get those rods to work

Sounds like your ignition system heats up then fails.. Start up bike ..get a hair dryer..run it on hot ..first do ignition coil..easier to get to ..let it get hot ..if it doesn't fail..gobfor ignition moduel..inside of cone ..same procedure..heat up.. Good luck..
