Hey Paul, I watched this video this morning, I have to say thank you, it felt like I was actually riding the bike. I loved the video and it made me so glad you are the custodian of the bike. I swear I'd recognize the sound of that bike anywhere. I never named the bike but Rich's buddy Rick Moody painted the bike and they teased me that it was the "Bahama Momma" paint job. That was by far my favorite bike, and it's great to see it so clean and shiny. Love that you are living the dream. Aunt Mary

I was 17 years old when I got my first Harley which was the year of 1979. I traded an MG midget for it. 1962 xlch. It was my only transportation. My parents were so mad. Still own it today and I am 62 years old love that bike. You are right old Harleys all have stories. Thank you for the video and letting me share my story.

Good thing you have a way to remember them both when you ride. My bike isn't as old as the ones you like but it's a 2000 night train. It's my first bike had 3809 miles on it when I got it. now it's over 5k miles. mine is special cause it's my first. it will go to my son when i can't ride anymore.

It's a great story. It's like blowing a sprit into the machine. I hope that you won't be bothered too much by the pegs scraping the ground when you turn.

I really enjoyed listening to this one, Paul. Didn't even feel like a 20 minute video. Such a great story. Having people like that in your life is a true treasure while they're around. Can totally relate to the ironhead story. Can't even stomach the thought of letting mine go. Be on the lookout for a younger cat out there that might want the same out of the older machines that you might impart the same that was given to you.

I truly enjoyed listening to your story and the history of your aunt's bike that is now your forever bike. Your Ironhead has such a fabulous history. It is truly a one of a kind Harley Davidson! I can see why you will never part with it, and pass it down to your own son one day. My wife has said that if I were to depart this world before her, she would not ever get rid of my two bikes. She'd keep them just to be able to look at them and smile at all the memories and my love of riding them. They'll still stay in the family for my son in laws or grandchildren. Loved the video! Keep wrenching, riding and stay safe!

Hi Paul, I like your videos, especially this one. Currently I have four old Harleys. The one I have the longest is a 1957 Pan, which was chopped already when I bought it in 1978. I found it in a bike magazine as an add. Phone the guy in the middle of the night and drove up the next day to secure it. Then I turned it into my bike over the next three years in a spare room on the 2nd floor of the hous e I was renting. The bike is on the road since 1981, on and off. Unfortunately my sons and daughter are not into bikes and I’m getting on a bit 71 in October. Hopefully one of my grandchildren will take it from my when I leave this planet. Long story. Greetings from Rotterdam in the Netherlands 🇳🇱

My most memorable bike was a '77 CB550. My brother-in-law picked it up when he was on the road. I met him in the next state and we rode home together. Lots of short jaunts on that bike, shared between whoever was watching over it at any given time. I had it for a while. A friend of mine had it. Eventually it went back to lean against my brother-in-law's garage and die a slow death. Still have a few pieces of that bike, plus lots of pics and memories.

Cool story. My first bike came from a friend. It was an old CX500 that was painted black. Everything was painted black. It had a kill switch for the lights. Anyway, it needed lots of work, and the transmission would slip in and out of 1st and 2nd. A coworker let me use his garage to work on the bike. Turn out that he had 2, 70's Goldwings and a Moto Guzzi. He helped me with the bike, and I started taking care of his property. I learned a lot from him and his dad. We would go on rides in Northern Maryland. Years later, I bought his 78 wing. Later on down the road, I got a divorce and sold the bike. My friend passed away, and 20 some odd years later, I finally said it's time. I found many Goldwings and other street bikes but decided on an 06 Sportster that had been sitting in a garage. It was in beautiful condition but didn't run well. With KZbinrs help and you, it's running, and I am enjoying wind in my face again.

Thanks for the background story. My mom died when i was 16 and dad left soon after. The older sister got custody of me till i was 18 then got a apartment with some roommates. Decended into drugs and alcohol, in and out of trouble and jail till i was 23. After loosing my license and being on probation for two years I built a 50cc motorized beach cruiser. My interested in motorcycles stemed off that and I bought a 1980 Suzuki pe175, then later a 1981 cb750. I learned how to work on them and got involved with the vintage groups and swapmeets mentoring under a few old timers. I salvaged bikes and sold/flipped them, till i bought my 72 ironhead for dirt cheap. That bike i still have got me hooked on vintage harleys. Now im 33 and have the ironhead and a 1988 heritage softail as well as a lil honda cm400 as a scooter. My mechanical knack from bikes got me into a millwright apprenticeship at a papermill. I concider motorcycles my therapy and a big part of my life, keeping me out of trouble. Good talk!
