I once tried YT music. 1 day later I deleted spotify. Boy what an awesome algorithm YTM has. Recommendations are great. And it becomes better since it syncs with YT cuz it's got more to learn from.

YT music sucks because they want you to pay a subscription fee to get it to stop pausing and play in the background. They intentionally try to annoy you into paying for a monthly subscription.

The reason why I chose YT music over spotify is due to the massive user generated library unlike spotify.. Like covers, soundtracks, folksongs etc.. which is hard to find on spotify plus I get KZbin premium as well

KZbin music does have an AI DJ. it's an experimental feature right now. left Spotify since I couldn't justify having it and KZbin premium and Spotify. I have to admit; I don't miss Spotify at all. been very happy using KZbin music and find it's recommendations pretty much spot on.

As a Spotify user (heavy music listener), I have to say that there are a few things that really bother me. The radio option would be a cool feature, but it only mixes songs into the playlist that I already know and like. Very rarely new content is shown. The playlists generated by the Spotify algorithm mostly contain music that I already like or have listened to before. So I'm only shown music that I already listen to or know and everything starts to sounds similar. Spotify also pushes its playlists and floods the user interface with its computer generated playlists. You can hardly find any playlists that weren't generated by a computer. Also, podcasts keep getting pushed into my recommendation feed, which I don't care about because I want to listen to music, but there's no way to remove content so the algorithm could learn. Since their playlists are mostly bad, I always like to listen to music selected by other users or curators. Another negative point is Spotify's user interface, because it sucks. It's cluttered, makes it hard to find anything and the search function really sucks. You type one letter wrong and the search finds nothing. Adding to it, the playlist and the like system also sucks as it takes more time compared to previous versions.

I agree on the first one, which bothers me so much. When I think, maybe it's time to go again to YTM, I remember that Spotify Connect works so well, that it's so hard to decide. YTM makes a great balance by showing you more new content, but plays safe with playing some you already liked and loved. But lacks the Connect feature and Podcasts, which are a nice bonus for me.

I agree on most of your point. But I still don't know why people feel like Spotify user interface is bad, I feel it's actually good, like it's very functional and also gives you options rather than adding extra steps to everything.

Yea I agree, I get bored of the songs on Spotify.. whereas on YT music I've discovered amazing new songs and completely evolved my music taste. And over the years the UI on Spotify feels so weird... I miss the old Spotify

You've miss one thing in this compression, on what devices you can use those services. For example Alexa devices don't support KZbin music, so that can be a big issue for a lot of people.

I generally turn Alexa's Bluetooth to connect my phone, and then I use KZbin Music to play songs on Alexa.

💯 agree with this and is the sole reason why I've never tried YTM. Using Alexa around the house with Spotify is painless. All the rooms and all family members. Would love to remove some KZbin ads but it would be such a pain to do all the bluetoothing

It just seems like KZbin premium/music is such a better value. I’ve had Spotify since it was in beta in the US. I wish I didn’t have over a decade of liked songs for the algo to work with. Because the algo is quite good. If it wasn’t for that I would just pick KZbin.

I don't like KZbin Music's integration with my KZbin account. I wish they were separate things. For instance, on Spotify I can follow JID, and I get release notifications and he is in my Daily Mixes more often. On KZbin Music I have to subscribe, which directly affects my KZbin algorithm to have anything he posts on my KZbin page. If KZbin Music was distinctly separate from KZbin itself, I'd give the edge to KZbin Music.

I’ve had issues where I have had to force close KZbin Music every time for it to update my library or liked music. This became enough of an issue to where I no longer use the service. Sadly, really liked what KZbin Music had to offer.

if you compare Spotify to YTM alone spotify wins but with YTM you get all the benefits of KZbin so you get 2 complete useful services for the price of 1. Who doesn't uses youtube in the world ?? (i know china, russsia and some others buts thats bureaucratic bs they can't watch this vid anyway) so getting rid of those annoying adds is value enough . Now if Spotify gives you better recommendations is bc you feed that algorithm more often /constantly.

I've used both the services. Spotify app is way user friendly than YT music app .YT music app is cluttered and laggy specially in the computer version because of the web app. It doesn't even has an equilizer which a huge down for me. Also sometimes the volume blows up in YT music when I watch something else on my mac then switching to the YT music app. Sometimes the album art and the description is something else rather than what I'm playing. The smoothness of the spotify app is great. Also it has the connected devices feature where you can switch between the logged devices to control the playback and also jam sessions where your friends can join with the playback and adding songs. Only good thing I got from YT music is the ad free YT playback and the huge music library. And also the audio quality sucks on YT music when compared to Spotify.

YTM also has all the meme songs I like it's super hard to find them on spotify. And spotify has video podcasts for distractible so I'm kinda using both. It's just I hate spotify's algorithm it constantly replays the same songs everyday.

UPDATE AFTER 2 MONTHS OF USING YTM BELOW: Spotify's release radar is not that good. KZbin recommendations are better. Any tik tok remixes like Adele x Bruno Mars are not available on Spotify. There have been multiple times that I have Shazamed a beat and is only available in youtube. Spotify may have a better sound quality but if you're not a "casual songs" listener or even if you like to listen to songs from your country (i.e. Balkan songs that may not be available in Spotify), I think that YT music is more worth it. I transferred my playlists from Spotify to YT music this week and will cancel my Spotify's subscription. I will revert in a few months to share my feedback. Update after using YTM for 2 months: Major cons: -Apple car play is not as good. It may take longer to load or occasionally has bugs. -if I close Apple car play (for example by leaving the car) and then reopen it, it won’t continue from the song that it had stopped. I then have to put a playlist all over again from the start. - in a playlist, the shuffle play may stuck and stop playing further songs (as if the playlist is over). You have to deselect shuffle play to stop the shuffle play and then reselect it in order to continue playing. -for a few days it deleted some of my playlists and it brought them back several days later on its own. -Not as good UI as Spotify Major pros: - Waaaay better shuffle mode. I mean the songs that are being proposed for listening after my initial search are true gems. -you can listen to any tik tok or not that famous remix of anything, that is not available on Spotify yet available on YTM. -you also have regular KZbin premium for free with you subscription. Conclusion: If we count the cons and pros and decide based on quantity then stay with Spotify. Although the bugs and cons somewhat break my nerves from times to times, my playlists are no longer being lost / erased and then recovered by YTM on its own and most importantly the shuffle mode compensates for the cons. I will continue using YTM instead of Spotify just because I am able to constantly discover new songs or recover songs from the past that I had forgotten about and still love them.

Spotify app is more premium, KZbin Music lacks basic features such as shuffle not staying on when you play a playlist. On KZbin music you have to do 2 clicks every time to shuffle your playlists . Spotify is one click per playlist and that's it, you set it and it stays on until YOU turn is off. Also KZbin music can't sort songs Alphabetically which baffles me as Google Play Music could do that. Until KZbin music includes these basic features I can't recommend it to anyone

Where do i start... you can't even customize playlist orders more than first and last added, or manually, no crossfire, the app plays randomly the KZbin video version on the music app instead off the dedicated yt music version (which has worst sound quality) the lyrics feature it's an absolute POS were most lyrics aren't sync with the music, i have encountered even some lyrics that don't match at all, (non of this happens en Spotify, amazon or apple) and doesn't even maintain the screen on, you have to keep touching the phone or it locks... and worst of all, if you just want youtube without add you're out of lock, the force you to pay for a terryble app that i don't want, youtube music is the worst app ever
