How do you like your Hobie revolution I’m thinking about buying that one
@losthorizonfishing1073 жыл бұрын
Honestly.., the Hobie Revolution is probably the best peddle kayak Hobie makes. It’s really versatile both in the harbor and in open water. If you could find a Revolution 16, that would be my number one choice! Otherwise a Hobie Revolution 13 is also a great choice. If you want to see a Hobie Revolution out in open ocean, check out a KZbin channel called Flying Fish TV. if you are going to buy a used one, try to find one that is a 2017 or newer. That way you will get the mirage drive with the ability to go in reverse (Mirage 180). For fishing inside harbors, around structure, the ability to go in reverse is amazing!🎣😃

I have never been to Anaheim bay with my Hobie kayak. Cold you guide to where I can launch it. Thanks Sean

sean rice hi Sean... without a doubt the best place to launch In Huntington Harbour is a place called Seabridge Park. Parking is free and it’s a very short paddle out to Anaheim Bay from there. 🎣😃

I usually fish long beach and been wanting to fish that area. Where do launch at. And where do you usually fish at?
@losthorizonfishing1074 жыл бұрын
robert diaz I live in the far southern end of the harbor, so I launch from the dock at my place. The best place to launch with easy access to Anaheim Bay is Seabridge Park. There’s plenty of free parking and it’s only a 5 to 10 minute paddle from there. 🎣😃

Dan, I was down there Friday morning.. Red crabs did not work for me. Had to leave, and paddle back because I drained the battery on my trolling motor. ugh. Why I have a trolling motor on a kayak is another story. Anyway, it doesn't seem that you drift much even in the strong tides. Are you using a weight or something to control drift?
@losthorizonfishing1074 жыл бұрын
Bob Gilkison hi Bob. I always point the nose of my kayak into the current and use the Hobie Mirage Drive to hold my position. When using a Red Crab Hookup Bait, I recommend the 1/4oz size for harbor fishing. Also, make sure you are using a 6 foot long 10 to 15 pound fluorocarbon leader. Hookup Baits are not used in the same way as a typical swimbait. Cast the Hookup Bait and let it settle on the bottom. Next give it a couple of pops to move it up off of the bottom and let it settle back on the bottom again. As it is falling back to the bottom carefully watch your line as a spotty typically hit as it is falling or just after it stops falling. Repeat that action as you are working the Hookup Bait back to your kayak. If you cast out a Hookup Bait and just do a slow retrieve with no pops... you won’t catch fish. 🎣😃
