1. Have your head up looking around for people who have their head up looking around? You’re always supposed to have your heads up looking around looking for threats! That’s what a situationally aware self defender is supposed to do! 2. I repeatedly have to adjust my clothing because I have the weight of a gun and 2 spare magazines pulling always pulling my pants down. Daily concealed carry of a firearm is what a Citizen Self Defender is supposed to do! 3. Inappropriate clothing. I wear a light wind breaker to my office daily even when it’s middle of the summer heat because the temperature inside is usually a little chilly with the air conditioning. And it helps me conceal the fact that I am armed 24/7/365. Daily concealed carry of a firearm is what a Citizen Self Defender is supposed to do! Concealed is concealed! 4. I don’t let people I don’t know approach me and get in my personal space. I always take a step back in a bladed stance ready to fight or flight until I figure out why they approached me. That’s what a situationally aware self defender is supposed to do! 5. Eye contact. 99.9% people avoid eye contact, as I scan the area and walk around with my head up most people will look away or at best give a fleeting glance. The rare person who also has his head up and on a swivel and is situationally aware will lock eyes. Whether it’s a regular person or even police officers I make sure to try to engage them and give a head nod and break eye contact. It’s like hey buddy, I see you, I see you seeing me, I am aware, I’m not intimidated by you. Don’t start any crap and there will be none. Now get lost! If they are the good guy they will do nothing and if they are the bad guy then I let them know that I am aware of them and they should mess with someone else. At least that’s the idea. People sometimes stare at you or in your general direction for many reasons or at each other and when they get busted looking or checking you out they will immediately look away. I get that often usually because say politically incorrect things and I often get busted staring at the pink haired nose ring face tattooed 40 year old woman asking my self for the love of God why? So eye contact or no eye contact can mean anything. You have to put it into context I suppose.

I'm an old retired cop. I walked into the grocery store not long ago and identified a potential threat in produce. Sure enough, this person tried to fight me in the bread aisle. I used some good old fashioned verbal judo to diffuse the situation. Point is, he gave off clues an experienced eye would pick up. Great video.

5 tips equal to crystal ball! typical cop nonsense. Trying to predict who might commit the crime, not making harder for the crime to commited! So you've played you little mind game & somone meets all 5 inicators, what do you do? In order for them to be a threat they have to do something, commit an act. So basicly all you have is a suspicious person. Even if you investigate. The real threat could bust thru the front door. You're distracted. The real threat may have no conection to the suspicous person. This is why having a cop mind set is bad for security!
