When I was in high school, the diocese of my church had a youth conference. This was in the 90s at the height of satanic panic. At the conference, they had breakout rooms so people could learn more about different topics of interest. I remember one of the topics was about cults and how to recognize them, avoid them, and get out if you're in one. What is scary to me now is that now the MAGA cult is the largest, most dangerous cult in history, and I don't know if there is anything that can be done to get them out of it at this point.

5 ways to spot a false prophet: 1) A false prophet will ALWAYS point us toward "someone else" - whether Trump *_or_* Biden *_or_* someone (or something) else. 2) They can't stop telling you how awesome they are. / They glorify themselves. 3) They keep _telling you_ they're a Prophet. 4) If their watch(es) is/are worth more than your house. Being a Prophet does NOT lead to wealth. 5) They *ignore* that the OT-style prophets of the "Wrath of God" and "Destruction" are NOT Christian Prophets. There is NO condemnation in Christ. the Wrath of God *_has been Satisfied_* indeed! Thank you, Rev, and be blessed! Amen.

I support and recommend sharing this video as “A Christian-Based Guide to Identifying False Prophets” Another way of echoing Reverend Trevors’ message is if a preacher is giving permission or encouraging listeners to hate or to judge or to marginalize other people in the name of God or religion, they have identified themselves as a false prophet. I honestly think many people who identify themselves as Christians and who listen to and follow these false prophets are simply looking for divine justification to judge and marginalize others.

As I listened to your sermon, I was reminded of a quote I read recently. "A smart man knows that Frankenstein is not the monster, but is the man who created the monster, but a wise man knows that Frankenstein IS the monster." When we hear these "Frankensteins" claiming to be speaking with God and deifying Trump (or anyone else), they are in truth glorifying themselves. They are the monster.

I write as one with a family member taken by the "cult." To emphasize one of your points, if a person claims to come in the Name of the Almighty, promising worldly power, reflect on the fact that Jesus was offered worldly power by one later described as the ruler of this world. (He could not offer what he did not have.) "Call me an apostle and lift me up to leadership of this powerful nation, and I will give you the Supreme Court." And millions of so-called Christians replied: "I'll take that deal."

It has been more than a little frightening to see the sheer number of "Christian prophets" who are clearly not, and perhaps even more disturbing to realize so many in my family believe them. I recognize that the end times technically started long ago, and that every generation feels this way to an extent, but it's hard to not feel that we are approaching the end of the end times with so many false teachers and those who prophesy lies with barely a rebuke from the church. Even if it doesn't move the needle with my family, I appreciate this message.

Regarding #4...the Buddha was born a prince. A prophecy said he would either become a great king, or a holy man. His father (the king) knew this, and kept prince Siddhartha isolated from the sorrows of the world for 29 years, hoping he would choose the former path. Then the prince got out, and saw suffering, and poverty, and illness, and death. Siddhartha abandoned everything, left the palace forever, and lived in poverty for years until he found enlightenment. He had the equivalent of private jets and a mansion, but he gave it all up. I doubt our modern day princes would do any such thing.

Your words remind me of something I learned through experience as a woman. If a man tells you he’s a, “Nice guy,” he isn’t. A nice guy will never tell you he’s a nice guy, he’ll just be a nice guy. He’ll show it in his actions toward you and others. A man can claim, “He’s a good Christian,” but how does he treat others and speak about others. I never read anything in the Bible about Jesus bad mouthing women. If a man talks down to women (or bad about woman), I know he doesn’t follow Christ. If he’s good, he won’t go around saying he’s good; it won’t even occur to him.

Amen. Thank you Reverend. The Jewish people of the Old Testament used to sacrifice a lamb as atonement for their sins. In the New Testament, Jesus is the Sacrificial Lamb sent by God Himself to atone for the sins of all of us on Earth. This is the main message of Christianity, in my humble opinion, as Jesus suffered man’s inhumanity to man in the worst way. The wisdom and foresight and truth in God’s word is proof of His New Covenant in and of itself, but because of the inequities of men, He, in His divine wisdom, sent Living Proof of His Righteousness and Profound Love and Wisdom. He sent Jesus. This was well worth the extra time you spent on it Reverend. Again, thank you for bringing God’s word to us in such a clear and loving way. The community you have built is genuine and a wonderful place for me to restore my hope and to reaffirm my faith💜🙏🏼

" The Jewish people of the Old Testament used to sacrifice a lamb as atonement for their sins. In the New Testament," The animal that was sacrificed by the High Priest as a symbol of atonement in the Old Testament (as instructed by the Almighty) was a goat -- and not a lamb -- on Yom Kippur. While the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt, they were instructed to show no respect to the lamb (by tying it up for days in their yard -- to be seen by all -- before slaughtering it and displaying its blood on their doorpost.) Why? Because the lamb was a sacred animal to the Egyptians. The passover lamb was never considered a sin sacrifice by the people of the Torah. btw, In the book of Acts, Peter and the other Jerusalem disciples were still meeting in the Temple and making animal sacrifices -- after Jesus had departed the earth.

@@elizabeth_777 -- Yes, and spent years with Jesus. They followed the religion OF Jesus rather than starting a new religion TO Jesus.
@elizabeth_777 Жыл бұрын
@@yabits Jesus was only around for 30-33 years. The earliest gospels were written between 30-40 years after his death. Jesus celebrated Passover and was called Rabbi. Christianity in its nascent form does not even emerge until after 100 AD. My point was not academic. It was philosophical. I am not interested in debating religion with you. I was simply making the point that Jesus is supposed to be the Lamb. He died for our sins, as a symbol of the sacrificial lamb that his people would have otherwise sacrificed for atonement. After the destruction of the second temple in 70 A.D. that practice was for the most part abandoned by Jewish people and replaced with Rabbinic Judaism, for lack of a temple in which to perform the sacrifices.
@yabits Жыл бұрын
@@elizabeth_777 -- In keeping with the theme, false prophets began to spring up soon after Jesus departed. Not interested in those who want to debate, but readers should know the basic fact that animal sacrifices for sin offerings were only offered for sins committed accidentally or unintentionally. NEVER for intentional sins. (If a person could not afford an animal, pure flour could be used as an (unintentional) sin offering.) The only way for an intentional sin to be forgiven was through genuine repentance -- and that never required any kind of blood -- or a Temple. The very concept of human sacrifice -- and that an innocent person dies so guilty people can escape accountability -- is contrary to any basic sense of morality. It's certainly not in the Old Testament. We are assured that the Almighty is merciful and will forgive ALL sins presented to HIM with a truly repentant heart. That much is abundantly clear in the Hebrew scriptures. Final point: The passover lamb had no connection with sin, and was never slaughtered and prepared in the Temple. Each family was commanded to do that -- and to continue it forever throughout their generations. This was commanded before the Torah was given at Mount Sinai -- including the 10 commandments. Christians are free, of course, to take all that and apply their own philosophy to it. It's simply hard to witness when important basic facts are omitted or distorted, as a believer.

The story of the man who shot the arrows in a forest and then painted bulls-eyes around where they stuck in trees. As a kid growing up in the 50s and 60s, I recall some of the evangelicals saying that the modern nation of Israel was the fulfillment of biblical prophesy. These proclamations really accelerated after the 1967 war. Yesterday, on the Majority Report, Sam Seder was interviewing Israeli historian, Ilan Pappe. It absolutely floored me when Pappe said that the Zionist movement actually began several hundred years ago by Christians in Europe. It was an anti-Semitic movement, designed to get Jews out of Europe and to "somewhere else." After many persecutions and pogroms... and rising anti-Semitism in the late 1800s, many European Jews started to catch on to the Zionist movement, and ended up making it their own. We're living through the results today -- inching closer to World War 3. Christian nationalists predict this well bring about the return of Jesus. All these centuries, they've been working hard to make it happen. Make no mistake.

My favorite prophet story is the one of Miriam -- the older sister of Aaron and Moses. She is described as a prophetess in Exodus 15:20, but not much is made about why. When Pharaoh issued the edict to murder all of the newly born Hebrew males, Moses had not been born. She was given a dream that a son to be born to her parents would be the one to lead the Hebrews out of bondage. She was able to convince her parents to conceive the child -- later called "Moses." She was the one who hid in the reeds and watched as the daughter of Pharaoh took in the child as her own. Recorded in scripture, and what an amazing moment that must have been. (The famous Ten Commandments movie has the people around Pharaoh's daughter identifying the child as a Hebrew by the cloth in the basket. It is more likely that was done when the first diaper needed changing.) Later, after the parting of the sea, and the destruction of Pharaoh's army, a much older Miriam leads the women down to the edge of the sea -- to the REEDS -- and sings a song of the fulfillment of the prophesy. Baruch HaShem.

Well you certainly shared some good news here! We don't need to listen to condemnation or destruction from God coming because the price was paid. What a relief!

Father Ed with the five examples you mentioned if people still question on how can they spot a false prophet? I must say we will need to intensify our prayers over them. I’m so overwhelmed that we as God’s children still have a difficult time discerning what is true or false in a message. Here….if you read & understand the basics of Gods message of good fruits help me understand why we are yet still so blinded by men in the flesh spreading ideology and not the gospel. As you have also mentioned if these PROFITS (intentionally misspelled) point us to another human being and not our Heavenly Father shouldn’t that be enough for us to stop for a moment and question that? Brothers and sister please pray for discernment and listen to what the preacher/elders in your church are preaching on the pulpit. God help and bless us all!

I keep asking God to show me what I need to see, when I need to see it. I think it's been helping. 🕊️

So true, Pastor Rev Ed! To further reinforce your ‘five’ tells…To summarize what today’s true prophet IS (rather than IS NOT, perhaps:) “Rev. Ed’s 5 Ps of a True Christian Prophet” - 1) they Point to Christ (and his teachings); 2) they do NOT Promote themselves; 3) they are NOT Popular among those they are trying to reach; 4) they do NOT ‘Profit’ personally from being a prophet, 5) they Proclaim the Propitiation facilitated by Christ’s Life, Passion and Teachings, rather than focusing on the destruction and the Wrath of God. Thank you so much, Pastor Rev. Ed for continuing in God’s Call on your life…and to your family and Church - for sharing you with all of us in KZbin-land:) 🙏⚓️🫶🏼🕊️

I am really grateful to have found your channel! Thank you so very much. I am (was) an Eastern Orthodox Christian for a couple of decades. Im really not able to attend services due to disabilities. It is SO good to hear you & watch your videos. Bless you!

Reverend Ed, one way is for a true Christian is to know, read, and study the Word for yourself. Review the person's fruits ; are they speaking 🔊 for God or about themselves constantly ? And beware of wolves in sheep's clothing 🤔, shun such deceivers, expose and shame them into repentance if they'll listen ! Pray for such people and their followers to reject false and misleading doctrine and return to Jesus Christ!

People today want certainty. They do not wish to think for themselves. They will fall for anyone who has a supposed answer.

I think people just gravitate towards those who spread a message that they want to hear. They want their biases and other ugly traits validated, but they refuse to consider how truly ugly some of those values and traits are.

Great again! : ) So well explained! I liked the part about pointing toward man instead of God, especially when that man is given the appearance of divine favor.

All of this is super useful and I do hope it gets shared. That said, I think the test the bible gives is fairly good too. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing." Yours is more modern, more specific and tuned for the modern world. It's entirely worth saying. But this is a verse that I quote all the time at the evangelicals I know because so many of them seem to have forgotten it as have their "prophets"

I meant to watch this weeks ago, but wanted to wait till I had time to think about it. Thank you. It's easy to start questioning my sanity with all the noise that's out there right now, and you just put my heart at rest, even though intellectually I already knew about what you said. I use the Galatians' Fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) to evaluate whether I should pay attention to somebody. I don't know how many people have noticed, but there are some public figures out there who seem to foster rage and hostility every time they open their mouths. It's so easy to be pulled into it.

Think of the worst person to ever live. Then think about how they are beautiful. That is God's love and it is difficult af to comprehend as a human.

Good video. We're saved through Jesus Christ and eternity is our destination. Jesus gave instruction manual, towards end times many false Christs and prophets will arise.

When one neighbor asked another if he would mind him putting up his trump flag, my friend responded, do what you want but I will never stand under the flag of a man.
