I think the only covering requirements are for residential (commercial may have something similar). But my understanding is that it is not just any covering, it has to be a fire retardant. Typically, people use intumescent paint or drywall. The reason is that foam burns easily so you need something to slow it down. They also make the in pretty light colors so the shop isn't so dark.

What paint did you use? Trying to figure out a good paint to use that will cover the spray foam and the metal support beams and will not flake? Any suggestions please? Thanks!

I'm no builder so excuse my ignorance of naming conventions. Up at the very top you have those bars going across, obviously for reinforcement. They look like metal beams or whatever.... Someone was building a van out and had spray foamed like you did and couldn't figure out why heat was still radiating inside. Some to find out....metal was transferring heat like metal rods via the screws and metal reinforcements if that makes any sense. Basically it made something akin to heating elements. I would image that since heat rises it won't be an issue for you but I would put a laser thermometer on those things for fun.

The term for those bars is rafter ties. I guess in theory that could happen. Heat is not my issue here in NY. It the cold that coming next month. This made a massive difference that was instantly noticeable. The garage doors are my next big concern. Those rafter ties are nothing compared to cold that's going to come through those big metal doors.

Does your attaching the 2x3s to the metal studs void your warranty?

I have no idea lol. There isn't much to warrant on these buildings.
