I have the same digital thermometer. As I had to remind a novice painter last year, panel temp is how I choose my reducers NOT ambient air temp. Nice to see a pro like yourself using the tools to get it done!

The Gunman Hello again mate...as I said before I had some major issues with that van door lol...all went wrong very quickly after that low spot repair. Anyway ..I started over...and this time I turned my dining room into a spray booth 👌 The results are 10 times better...the base went on nicer...the clear went on perfectly...the door looks amazing already and I've not even wet sanded or buffed it yet. I'll do that tomorrow or the next day. I appreciate its obviously going to be a worse job doing it outside but I cant believe how much it affected every part of the job...I think the paint was drying in the air and drying too quick on the door...it was quite hot. Wish I could show you a pic mate... I'm so pleased with how it turned out considering it was done with cans etc. Anyway... thanks again mate.

WOW! love the colour (color) and that finish puts my crap to shame wouldn't dare even post it on here!!! 😁 I don't know how you can paint in that heat, it's been about 30C in my booth the past few days and I sprayed a couple of panels and I came out like the walking dead, us brits (well me) don't know what real heat is, I couldn't function in the heat you work in Gunny.

Will they give you a key to come in early. In Missouri, it not only gets hot , but humid. We would come in around 3,4 am and spray. We would then leave around 11am, or noon. I feel your pain. We worked in a metal building, without air conditioning. One summer the thermometer read 135 degrees. We were spraying regular Standox, not water. Keep up the great videos!

Nice one Gunny! 👍 You mentioned use of the thermometer and infrared lights in your vid and it would be great if you could do a dedicated vid about this. I know you’ve covered just about every aspect of painting on all your years posting but no one has ever done anything regarding this. Can you help? Need to see what temperature is used for different materials i.e. body fillers, primers and clear coats and how long for. How to get best results etc. That would be awesome. Might seem a completely obvious thing to those in the know but I your starting to use infrared and haven’t access to knowledge like yours there’s no way of finding out. Cheers and keep on doing what you do. 👍👍👍😐

Last time I painted it was so hot that when I tried spraying the cleaning solvent onto the car it was evaporating before it hit the car, no way to do it no matter what I did. Painting sucks when it's this hot. You need slow reducer for certain but even then IT SUCKS, the reducer was drying before hitting the car so I ended up with base coat turning into dust and laying on the car like a pile of dirt.

Howdy Gunman. I always leave comments, thanks for reading them. Just thought I'd give you another random update with my spray painting career. You probably can't keep up with all your fans, but I came up in a good quality shop about the time I started watching your videos, been running the gun for a few years, quite the knack for quality. Mental health is a bitch though. I hate to assume, but I can see in you that you may have battled some personal or substance issues in your past? I've been having a real struggle keeping my pride and confidence as a painter throughout my last 4 years of sobriety. It feels like because I'm not in a state of the art shop doing prestine work everyday, and being stuck doing car lot and yard jobs, that I'll never be the painter I know I am. Sorry for the long random sparatic comment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose the trade I love so much.

@dotd0tx

Gunny, you didnt say what types of pressures to use. Lately I've been having an issue because it's so hot that the base is dry on car and drying before I can walk around car. I am using the dv1. Should I drop pressure in heat from 22psi to maybe 13 or 14 to keep it wet? It's making the clear have a orange peel that I end up having to buff. Let me know!

Hi Gunny Phil here again my question is which would be a good spray gun to use as well as using it to spray a wooden entrance door .I would have to use Polyurethane paint yes as they use them for Kitchen cabinets.I just want a better finish for my front door.Also to use the Gun for spray painting panels as well for cars.

That is solvent based blending technique- this is water based and i am blown away how gunny can blend and panel paint right away. Nice trick on the hood (bonnet)- blending then keeping it wet and blending as you go. Takes 110F to get that shit to dry fast!
