Spraying with Grumman G-164 "Turbo" Ag Cat near Lemoore, CA

This plane is a remotorized Grumman G-164 Ag Cat. The original 9 cylinder radial engine have been changed to a turboshaft engine because of the longer lifetime and its more economical.
The Grumman G-164 Ag Cat is a single-engine biplane agricultural aircraft, developed by Grumman in the 1950s.
The Ag Cat was the first aircraft specifically designed by a major aircraft company for agricultural aviation, and the first aircraft designed according to the regulations of Civil Aeronautics Manual Part 8, which had been written especially for agricultural aircraft.
In 1955, Grumman preliminary design engineers Joe Lippert and Arthur Koch proposed the design for a "purpose built" crop dusting airplane as a means of fulfilling a pressing need in the agricultural community as well as the perceived need for Grumman to diversify its product lines. The initial market survey indicated that 100 - 200 of this type could be sold each year. Lippert's initial proposal was made under the project name "Farmair 1000."
The first G-164, which was built by Grumman, was equipped with a Continental W670 Series 6A-16 powerplant. This ship accomplished its maiden flight on May 27, 1957 with Grumman test pilot Hank Kurt at the controls.
A lot of G-164 still operates in the United States’s aerial applicator team.
The Ag-Cat in my video belongs to Trinkle AG Flying spraying company. The company stations in their AG airport with a fleet of two Turbo Grumman AG Cats, a Bell 47 and a Bell Wasp, near Kingsburg.

Very very nice video of a Maxi Cat. Not many videos of Maxi Ag Cats on KZbin. Very good conditions you had for excellent footage. You don't always get that when trying to get footage of planes spraying.

This is one of my favorite Ag Cat Videos .. Love hearing the airplane .. The lights on it is awesome for Night Spraying .. Any info on the plane would be helpful in getting myself one like this one built .. Am looking into the PT6A-140AG Turbine .. Not approved just yet by the FAA but it’s in the works .. High Density/ High Temperature design Turbine used in the Air Tractor 502XP

What is that little tiny propeller under the fuselage? Does that have something to do with the spray equipment?

it is a pump to presurize the spary system. the slip stream is what turns the blades. btw...that place looks like central california.

That is a beautiful Ag Cat but doesn’t look like a typical G164A model .. The hopper looks bigger than a 350 gallon .. The cockpit sits behind the wings not forward toward it .. Maybe it’s the paint job creating an illusion.. idk but it sure looks different 🤔

usually i support comment in support of disapointed frmer bagger rt from lemoore who n self 'check' out commisary met these portia hughes gang but betrayed him on 9/5 rule n 50th bday violation esp theyre name is 'port' near n rwilliams, he dosent like n agree with the 'ur so quiet n shy n dont talk' n did it infront everyone there at party so hes really angry about beun treated like nonhuman that n refuting all dat criticism n falsefacts on him so hes against them socially now. but howver in irrelevence this is an interesting video, and flying pilots are cool ok im out.
