I have been gardening for 60 years , actually, when I was a small child in my nappy as they say in England I was in the garden. So experience teaches us , to plant twice as much as we think that we need so that we have a satisfying amount, after the various misfortunes occur. 3:08 AND the FRAGRANCE, makes the brain so happy! 3:49 Your fritillaries look so Beatrix Potter idyllic! 5:33 Here in Ohio we have a large patch of snowdrops 30 years old, they naturalize well w here, they are the very FIRST flowers, so welcome after a long, dreary , dark winter. As years pass you may need to dig some out/thin them and relocate some. they quite dominate their space. 7:42 Also, the early bulbs build up for the next year before the trees begin pulling all water out of the soil. 8:05 Yes, more flowers, more vegetables, less grass for me. People who need space for active children etc. need large expanses of grass, but the ideal is narrow mowed grass pathways for that old cottagey retro ambience. 11:17 Irises are very critical about soffy soil, my irises planted shallow are doing much better than the ones that got too much soil on them from moving things about, so you may want to look to see if they are too deep, and scrape soil away from them. They quite literally rot if too deep. I spent quite a lot of money for the very finest irises several years ago, I was forced to do an emergency extraction of a few of them into pots until they recover strength. I rises are soul meltingly beautiful, sun shining through them looks like cathedral glass. And the fruit like fragrance I can not get enugh of. 12:46 Yes, I love soft pastel, retro, vintage looking colors. i think of stong colors like reds and oranges as spices, to be used in small amounts and to be used as a portrait/landscape painter does, premeditatedly, planned to draw the viwer's gaze to the desired area. EVERYTHING that I plant, I plant early, midseason and late incase that some get beat up by weather and of course to extend the season. Thank you for showing us you wonderful garden!😍😍

Really beautiful flowers ! Because of your videos about spring bulbs I got really excited about them and in autumn 23 I planted lots of tulips in my garden. They start to flower now and I’m really enjoying them! Next autumn I will plant lots of daffodil and more crocus (I have a lot of wild ones which flower very early but I want more bigger crocus for later in spring). It’s so inspiring to watch your channel.❤ greetings from Dresden, Germany 🌷

Watching you from the SE part of the USA, Zone 8. I'm so envious of your garden because cottage style is my favorite! We just don't see them much over here. It was very warm when my tulips bloomed, so the petals shattered pretty quickly. Snapdragons and pansies are really giving us a good showing. Thanks again. I LOVE your videos!

I don't think your crocus foliage looks messy at all. I found you via your crocus lawn video. You're one of the few who have footage of what the lawn looks like when it grows up (gotta find the motivation to plant all those bulbs, right??) After the crocus video I watched an earlier video of yours when you were just starting!!! Absolutely incredible work. You've cultivated an amazing and beautiful garden. I see your vision and I think you did a great job tackling it. You may have these videos up already and I just haven't found them yet, but want to see a pond update since that is gardening on hard as well as how your cacti are doing. I'm curious about your zone and where the cold hardy cacti are from. We have prickly pear in MN and they are a very cold hardy.

But I had been home sick and didnt see them appear and when I went out so se them the rabbits had eaten EVERYTHING but three lonely crocus. This is wonderful. Your garden is an absolute dream! I’m adding fritillary to my list of bulbs to try. The soft yellow of the daffodils next to the deep purple of the fritillary’s is magical! And thank you for spending time discussing the disappointments in the garden-every spring we have to deal with a few little heartbreaks, but then, there are often a few pleasant surprises to balance things out.

Such a beautiful garden…loooove your videos!!! I ve just looked a video from the channel „Apple, Pea, Fern, Sea“ also UK based, and they showed a narcissus variant called „cool flame“ Maybe that’s your as well? It could be that the orange middle is not that bright as cool flame, but it could be also the lighting in both gardens and videos 😊

I planted crocuses- a mixture of them for the first time in my yard after being inspired by a video of yours - so glad that they bloomed and they are so beautiful. None of my other neighbors have any kind of bloom in their landscaping at the moment. Also, after seeing you plant snake 🐍 head plants among daffodils, I may consider growing them, but I never thought I would like them as I am afraid of snakes lol. I have to move to a zone 9A in a year or so, I am a bit sad, but I will enjoy what I can before moving to a hotter area (Vegas).

Your garden is an inspiration. We bought a 100yr home, with a very, very, very, unkempt garden. It has what you are doing in your garden. At first a tried to rid the garden of as many bulbs possible. It was sooooo overgrown and overwhelming. Nothing was in order. Just random bulbs anywhere. Every spring I watch your garden trying to tell myself it’s okay. I love them but need some order. Our lawn has thousands of Canterbury Bells but my husband mows them over because long grass drives him crazy. I commend you on your orderly garden. Yep, once they are there they never go away!! lol. Watching you in your garden I think I actually need to add more in spots to create order. It’s literally a madhouse!

Wondering if you ever saw this video or heard about the science in it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIHJnYqaqKiFmqc. It's about how daffodils apparently might make it toxic for other flowers around it? I planted a bunch of tulips and daffodils a long time ago and only the daffodils are left so there might be some truth to it. Just curious if you were at all aware or what your opinions on it were. I love planting daffodils, but I might like planting other flowers more if they take over.
