Larry, Im 67 years old, and Have many a fond memory , channel catfishing as a Kid. Wish I would have know the peg float, circle hook , no roll sinker Method. My oldest Kid has never caught a Decent size fish ,that would give him a rod bending fight, so I took him to The Grand River ; Grand Haven Michigan, and we had a Blast, just using Night Crawlers on a 5/0 Gamagatsu Circle hook. Great video Chad, if only I had a boat. You should do a video targeting cats from the bank. A lot of us would appreciate it, I know I would. I live in the Dallas area and don't have a lot of options so anything will help.

Chuck, Lee from Muskegon MI. here... Yeah buddy!!!, Yo can do very well bank fishing for them. Contact you Fish and Game Dept for good Places to go. Also, always use The Chad Ferguson Method of Rigging; Im new to this and slayed the cat fish. Its the peg float, no roll sinker, and I use a 5/0 Gamagatsu Circle hook, winding on a crawler. TIP: After Fishing, remove peg From float, because they sorta strech out the float hole. Just push peg in alittle snug, no need to press in with force. I order No Roll 3 oz Sinkers from ," The Sinker Shed" , a guy out of New York. great Quality. I never get snags with this method. Goid Luck to you!! Go rip some Lips.

Bro I catch all bass species, crappie, and catfish. I know for a fact hotdogs and chicken is really good for big catfish and for numbers. I am watching this video to get an idea of where these catfish are this time of year. I don't have electronics and I bank fish man, sometimes I even kayak fish.

Chad, Thanks for The Great Info. Many Fisherman Look Down their Judgmental nose at People who Fish for Catfish. Ive had more Fun Ketching them; enjoying the fight, than most other Types of Fishing. They have become so obsessed with Technology , and Every Multi Ton Skrim Rods, That They lose The pure simplistic Fun that is fishing is suppose to be. An old Timer, use to take me and my brother ,Channel Cat Fishing at Snake River ,Idaho. Old Andy, would use a piece of kitchen sponge dipped in " Bowkers" Original Stink bait, and we always caught alot of big cats. I Always Dedicate a good share of Fishing Time to Rippin Lips on Mr.Wiskers.

We do not have shad, our native prey are frogs, bugs, chub minnows, bluegill, bass and crappie. Be awesome to see you learn and teach on places like cave run, Grayson, yatesville, lakes in eastern ky.

I have a small 102 acre lake, and a 62 acre lake, on my property that I fish. There is no shad population, only bluegill. Tons of the bluegill hang out by the dock, in extremely shallow water, but have yet to see any catfish, and only the occasional bass up around the dock. I'm sure there are bluegill out in the deeper water too, do they school like shad? Or, do they just become loners out in the deeper water?

Drop a bluegill off the dock at night, no lights and be quiet and they’ll show up

I usually find small coves that is 8ft to 2ft and use my trolling motor to drift in and out of the pockets using drift sinkers I look for high 50 temps to 60'S I usually do real well if I dont catch one I move to the next cove

Also asian carp is a great bait if your river systems hold them....i prefer them in the heat of summer over shad..I use shad and skipjack early then use carp species in summer...I fish the Mississippi and Missouri rivers near st louis

I have the whisker seeker baitcast rod freaking awesome I got it paired with an Abu Garcia Catfish special. With 20 pound mono from catfish seeker. But the line becomes tangled when I cast. It creates knots inside the reel. I do get a bird nest at times. Is it because of that? I'm somewhat new to using baitcaster.
