Centipede Grass in SC. I used the purple hose end sprayer of Spectracide weed stop with Atrazine on my backyard and a hose end sprayer bottle of Image Southern Lawn Weed Killer on the front. The Spectracide worked way better than the Image as most weeds in my backyard where gone within 10 to 14 days. The Image caused a little bit of yellowing of the Centipede in the frontyard, but it did go away in a week or so. The Image was much less effective on the weeds. I'm now spot spraying the front with Change Up as I wanted to see how well it works.

Awesome I have heard Change Up is very good. Yes I have good results too with Spectracide but some of the broadleaf weeds I need to take care of with Celsius or Fertilome Weed Free Zone

I like the channel. I just ordered a bag of Andersons Humichar and dirt booster plus for some organic material. I'll be trying out their new PGF complete 16-0-8 soon and I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. I've pushed most of the nitrogen I want to throw down for the year but I'll spoon feed around .12 lbs per 1k per month for the next few months along with some bio-stimulants. I'll keep you posted on the results

So far this season all I’ve done is put down Hi Yield pre emergent in early spring. Currently waiting on a 5-7 day window of no rain so I can apply the spectracide atrazine application. Also have a bag of Andersons Humic DG waiting to fertilize with

Out of all the fertilizers you tried what is the one you recommend the most

Good question. I e had good results with many but the ones that stand out the most are the Fertilome Centipede Lawn Fert 15-0-15 and the Espoma Lawn Food 15-0-5.

Andersons just came out with a PGF Complete 16-0-8 which is perfect for Centipede and it has some good micronutrients also. This might be the best fert on the market for centipede lawns. The results are incredible

When it comes to post emergents I've found that Celsius is also a great product to use on Centipede. You mentioned Fertilome Weed Free Zone but this product has 2,4-D as an active ingredient what's your take on this? I've always heard that the active ingredient 2, 4-D can be harsh on Centipede. On a second note which pre-emergent would you recommend to use in the fall the Lesco 0-0-7 product that contains Prodiamine, Lesco Pre-Emerg that contains Pendimethalin(Dimension) or a product like Hi Yield Weed & Grass Stopper Pre-Emergent that contains Dithiopyr? Really appreciate your feedback.

The WFZ label says yellowing can occur on St Augustine and hybrid Bermuda but not centipede. It is labeled as safe on centipede and whenever I have used it I haven’t noticed any turf damage. I think the form of ester in this 2-4D formulation makes it ok to use in centipede. Just be light with it and I really like how quick it works. Also works great in cooler weather. For preemergent I have used all of those in the past I’m just very cautious to use only when the lawn has shut down for the year. Based on all the negative effects I’ve seen from Pre-e’s on centipede I may do an app in mid-Oct/November

What was your final assessment of the Farmer's Almanac fertilizer?

Very good organic fertilizer. Nice and mild just the way centipede likes it. Great deal for $18/bag. It doesn’t give the color response of some others but it’s good lawn food for the microbes 🦠 and it helps w water retention in the lawn.

I have mostly centipede. For weed control Im going to use Celsius and certainty. Im finally have gotten some rain fall and want to start on the weeds and later I have some 15 0 15 to apply in trouble areas. I was waiting on a full green up and rain fall. So how long after apply herbicide do I start with fertilizer? Thanks, Thomas from NC

@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare next question should I try to target carpet grass in my centipede grass. Im using Celsius. It will kill it. I have alot of carpet grass. Alot more centipede than the other. I didn't want to splotch up my yard with yellow or brown patches. I'm not positive but I dont think a pre emergent will work. Seed head is a Y with a kicker below

I have seen that product at my local Site One and am intrigued by it. I love the fact it has microbes and mycorrhiza fungi in it. Big plus. I may try it this summer!

Celsius works at the high rate. Also there is a herbicide called Tenacity that is supposed to be good but I haven’t tried it myself.

It doesn’t but the setting they provide probably feeds about 3 lbs per 1000 so that would be .3 lbs of N which is a nice mild feeding.
