Spring Easter decor, spring cleaning, Laundry room update, when to flip a pancake

I had so much fun this week, not only was I able to put things away in our new Laundry room, aka the tavern, but I'm showing you how to make an egg topiary that was inspired by one of Martha Stewarts vintage videos. I'm also starting some deep spring cleaning and I am also showing how to know when to flip a pancake to make it perfect. PS the quartz is called Carbo Brushed.

The collar ruff. Used mainly as decoration while useful for keeping the clothing and collar clean. The ruff was worn by men, women, and children. Easily cleaned.

A "Ruff" not a "ruffle." It's also a way to show off wealth. Many times made with very expensive lace. Poor people didn't wear them. They may have even been outlawed for poor people with the laws that prohibited certain classes from wearing certain fabrics and fashions?

You can stick foam in the green urn and then stick a long skewer in it and stick the skewer in the egg tree to fasten the 2 together .🐰🌷

The ruffle collar around the neck of Queen Bess in your painting is called a RUFF. This was worn by the wealthy or important people during the Elizabethan Era because they were the only ones that could afford them. Today, you would see them worn in a Shakespeare Play. I love that you are bringing back crafts from the 80’s or 90’s and re-introducing them to our new generation!!! Thanks for all your tips ! BMT/San Antonio, Texas

Beautiful snow. We haven’t had much snow in my area so far, but we usually do. Loved the egg tree. I think I have the materials to make at least 1. I always loved Martha’s show and her magazine. I also love using Old English polish but my sister who use to live in Mississippi sent me some Natchez polish and I really like it. I loved seeing sweet Willow in the window seat. 🐾😊💗

Hi Linda! What a wonderful segment showing crafting, cleaning, and updates of your amazing home. The tavern room looks beautiful and oh, to have a counter like yours to fold laundry-I might be able to fold fitted sheets like Martha did in one of her programs! Love your Easter topiary and know you will use the urns for many things. Your pancakes look delicious and perfectly cooked. Sometimes it’s the little details that make the difference and many do not know. When I demonstrated Pamper Chef products and recipes and would casually say you could use whipped cream or add a glaze, several young ladies would ask “how do you whip cream” or “how do you make a glaze”, I realized that those simple techniques were not familiar to everyone. I smiled when you went outside and remarked about the clean fresh smell and could recreate it in my mind. Loved the O😊ld English demonstration - used it on wood floor scratched by moving refrigerator and it is a great product. Looking forward to your next segment…..thank you for not only inspiring me but allowing me to relax and realize that small projects finished help the total come together when I am feeling overwhelmed!

Linda: I somehow missed this video when it was first published. Wow!!! What a laundry room! It is really not a laundry room, but rather it is a gorgeous area and I have never seen anyone do that trick. It is beautiful and you are such a creative and wonderful designer. I am so impressed. It's called an Elizabethan Ruff. These were used to protect gowns or doublets from becoming soiled and were separate pieces from the garment themselves. Starch was used to make these stiff.

Linda , thank you for all the hard work you put into making your channel so entertaining, so interesting, so classy , so relaxing . It is a true joy to spend time with you in this way ! I have one question - are your fireplaces wood or gas ? And would you give us a commentary on pros and cons of each ? I am accustomed to a wood burning stove , which I love . But I am curious about the use of gas , and specifically, does it feel like a ‘fake’ fire ? I know that sounds silly , but it is a big investment and I want to make an informed decision going forward . Thank you for considering this question !!

For the base layer...Use a spray adhesive (like Elmer's brand) it works wonders... spray down the cone and wait a couple of seconds for the substance to get tacky, then apply the moss. 😊

I love the way everything is being transformed. I also use “Old English” polish on my old pieces, for my refinished pieces I use nothing but “Guardsman” cream polish. The topiary looks great, gave me ideas for different holuday decor pieces. Would you demonstrate one with shells for summer?

I really like how your egg topiary came out! Just a quick tip, if you run out of floral pins and you have heavy gauge floral wire, you can cut and make your own pins too. And your tavern room, that's looking like a crown jewel!

I’m surprised you don’t put down a newspaper to save the mess on your beautiful table, plus the clean up is so easy….just fold up and throw away. Noticed towards the end you had some paper down. I craft a lot so I’m always trying to make clean up as easy as possible. And I’m a messy crafter and painter!! Nice project…I may try it. Working with Spanish moss is so messy but I like the look.
