I was thinking of framing some of the wall paper as well. My fave was the one with the lime green and blue in it. I think I would have have chosen that color way back when as well as now. My mother did a lot of wallpaper when I was growing up and I watched her glue and cut and put up the paper

Paper and cut the edges off. When I bought my first house (circa. 1921) she papered a cracked wall from the fireplace that ran from front the bedroom fireplace to the ceiling. She sealed (clear)the wall then put a special paper over the wall and sealed it again and then papered it with a green and blush or peach colored wallpaper that was still beautiful 31 yrs. later when I sold the house. She papered the wall which held a queen sized bed perfectly. My house was a Dutch colonial which had some but not too many quirks to cover up all those wonderful built ins and all of those beautiful windows. (Which I loved!!!)

Go with your gut, Linda, on any and all decor decisions...you have fabulous taste and style! Just because it is an older historic home...DOESN'T mean you have to make it become a museum! Our ancestors updated and changed tastes thru the centuries too. I like a balance of historic colors and antique pieces...but want good lighting, cozy rooms, air conditioning and a beautiful working stove! .,.I am also NOT washing the family clothes over a rock down at nearest river lol! You love historic homes and family ancestry, have excellent taste in paint colors, wallpaper, paintings etc. That house is lucky to have you as its owner! You will hear it whisper to you, guide you for each room!

Great video. Fun to see your new place and hear your plans. Loved opening the wall paper packages with you. I had several favorites. The dining room blue was the best. But the cornflower blue was also lovely, as was the queen Anne's lace. I agree with others that have written here. You should frame pieces and use them as a throw back to the house. Also I can't help but wonder if you might be able to get a special order by someone who does historic wall paper.

I appreciate that you keep your videos real, Linda, and show the in-between and in-progress stages of making an antique house a home. Thanks, too, for sharing the mechanical side of things, i.e., mini-splits, internet, etc. Living in a 1723 cape, I know the challenge of trying to be a respectful steward of history, while living a modern lifestyle. You've inspired me since I first found your channel and realized I drove past your Groton house daily on my commute. Now, when I have a few moments in my day, I might find myself thinking, what would Linda do? and then head outdoors to cut some greens or deadhead flowers or rearrange a bookshelf or chest. Thank you for continuing to inspire!

Linda as a Scottish woman living in Australia I appreciated seeing you walk in the early fall of snow and the scrunch underfoot. I really love your style and love how you appreciate the age and style of your home it's refreshing to see that you search out pieces that have had a previous life to compliment your home and somehow you always seem to find the perfect pieces it I loved seeing the old wallpapers and the one with the dog was my favorite for some of the other smaller pieces you could use as a back lining in a glass fronted cupboard in a more casual space retaining the history. I always look forward to your posts and hope you continue to show the progress on your very beautiful home.

Our home was about 110 years old. When we moved in there was wallpaper in my sons room with pussy willows. My 3rd grade son had to write about his bedroom before we removed it. He said "Mom. I just couldn't say I had pussy willow wallpaper." I think there are times when a little fib is ok. I had to use a steamer to take the wallpaper off. 110 years of multiple layers. My husband came home and said "that didn't look too difficult". I wanted to steam his face off.

Please, please reconsider painting that gorgeous wood in the library. Perhaps investigate lightening the wooden panels by professionally sanding or stripping them to lighten them yet keeping the natural wood grain and beauty. Just another idea and food for thought. I can’t help feeling that you may regret giving it a green coat of paint. Lovely video!

Good morning from the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC! I love, love, love your videos. It’s refreshing to watch someone who is so genuine and “real” regarding her home and decor. On the air conditioner units, being able to accept it as “it is what it is” and moving on to find a way to live with it is honest - and how it typically is in real life vs the picture perfect presentation often seen on line. This is life and the challenges and solutions are what makes a home interesting. Perfection is not nearly as soulful. I appreciate your sharing these things with all of us. In the Great Room, I would start with painting the back of the shelves that look orange in the video first and not the paneling and wood working. I would estimate that the wallpaper is from the late 1930s to early 1940s. You have a great clue with the dry cleaning bag. You could try the Milford historical society or the Cabinet Press newspaper for additional information about the cleaners. Also, if you want to use a pattern but, it's too fragile to work with, you could have it reproduced. Such a fun find. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Hands-down the Queen Anne’s lace for me, oh my gosh I absolutely love that! Plus I love Queen Anne’s lace flowers too. Do light and airy, the second definitely Daisy, high noon, and the last one with the roses for a bedroom I love too. I actually had something similar in color with small little tiny flowers in my bedroom in Massachusetts growing up, it was an old New Englander home that was beautiful! It was a oversized home that my mother completely renovated, and that paper reminds me of it…in fact my mother and I still talk about that paper, because we both just loved it so much. That house was truly the start of me loving homes and home decor. It had stated a few years earlier in a antique cape in Newburyport, or Newbury Ma., that was just gorgeous, I was 12 or 13 at the time, and I knew I really loved that cozy warm vintage vibe back then, and when we moved into the house my mother renovated I was all in!! We had a gorgeous staircase that my mother had bought this beautiful red, and white, toil wallpaper for that was just beautiful, but she wanted the staircase to be completely stripped and stained, and one day I just decided to paint it a white, and oh my gosh, she was ready to kill me lol, but then when she saw how well it looked up against the wallpaper she was happy. I probably should have asked first, but inspiration took over. I was 15 or 16 at the time. Merry Christmas.
