I'm way too old to be adopted but I'd love to be your second Katie Dr. Dirr. Proud to have loved Georgia enough to decide to stay 42 years ago. I could watch hours of this Jim! My dirt road is full of Baptisia. Thanks for the seed advice Dr. Dirr.

Dr. Dirr gives great tours with his commentary! You can tell he has so much info on every plant, but has to shorten it down - which isn't easy to do as you're walking along looking at everything. Well done! Yes to fall color in a part 3, if possible.

I am 68 and starting a new garden. I often think that I may never live to see a lot of the things I plant get really big. Dr. Dirr reminded me just how much can develop in nine or ten years. Those trees are fabulous! I suppose even if I were much older, it's not the final product (which of course doesn't exist in gardening), but the process that is what gardening is all about.

Thank you Jim for capturing this free flowing conversational tour with Dr. Dirr. He is sooo interesting to listen to, so freely sharing his vast knowledge of plants. I will watch these two videos multiple times because there is so much to learn. I’ve used his books as reference source, but this man can get you excited to learn! Look forward to more of these conversations.

I love these tours you do. Dr. Dirr is right about planting more diverse trees and shrubs. Why is it that some years things are available and then they are not (or you never see them again), while others are always available?

A+ Putman. More with the man, 'Fall color tour' Please. From his Manual, I find that I base so much of my own opinion on plants on the Landscape Value and Additional Notes sections of each plants description. Every time I look around at what I've planted I hear Dirr's descriptions in my head. There must be many others who do also.

Wow! The last time I was there was in 2013. It's amazing how much everything has grown and how many more plants he has added to the landscape. Always a joy getting a Dr. Dirr tour! He is a wealth of knowledge and has a true passion. A tour of some of the arboreta in Spartanburg, SC would be awesome. I'm sure Dr. Kevin Parris at Spartanburg Community College would be happy to show you around.

I love that he touched on tree planting spacing. You can plant much closer than what most people recommend. Trees grow fine close together in a forest, same in a residential backyard.

I really do not understand why more people do not consider Styrax japonicus, particularly when creating an allee given its naturally formal habit. No room for that here, but we did sneak in one Stryrax japonicus Evening Light, which has a lovely purple cast…

Absolutely beautiful! The way that everything stands out against the color of the home is beautiful. Mite damage question- a bobo hydrangea I have under a crape myrtle beside my home has mite damage that affecting almost half the leaves on the 3 yr plant. Will the leaves come back normal next year or is It permanently damaged? The affected leaves are curled inward and tiny compaired to the other half of the plant. Zone 7b central NC, thanks in advance for anyone who can offer info!
