Hellooo Sissel! So lovely to see you today when I am needing some motivation and happiness in my day! Happy birthday Jake! I'm so happy the weather was so wonderful for your little staycation! Such a charming first place and love seeing you and Jake together! I love your contrasts and that you still center to each other so well. The second place is nuuuuuts!! You did such great work, and I love how you are helping him to like his birthday a bit more which is so sweet. I love seeing these kinds of gestures. the party looked so fun and the snacks were lovely! I MELTED when he said it was his best birthdayyyy. I love hearing about your mindset shift, I've had a lot of the similar after an abusive relationship and I love that I always feel like I get that connection even though we don't talk outside of these little comments. It is really nice because I am always feeling you know what to say without knowing me and I like that we have similar life experiences. Also love seeing your tight friend group get together like this, so wholesome!! Ok this comment is far too long, sending love Sissel and Jake!

Oki Sissel, absolutely not trying to dismiss your healing from your negative experiences from men and to ultimately ‘hate all men’ I also don’t stand with and I agree on the fact that men have also had their fair share of the patriarchy hurting them… Yet with one finding a decent man who treats women right and rightfully so, doesn’t eliminate the fact that women still very much live in a system that was built up around and for men. It also still very much translates into how women are viewed discriminatory and not respected by the majority of men, in this very system which applies to all parts of life. From work to relationships etc. So if women haven’t reached a point yet where they can let go of the fear of men, like you have for example, they shouldn’t be ‘shamed’ by other women into building this shield up against men and patriarchy in order to protect themselves. Maybe one day they will reach a similar place of entity in their womenhood where they can let go of the defence mechanism they have learned for themselves, until then we should, as women, support them and show understanding. Just my personal thoughts, and I’m sharing them from a place of discussion rather than ‘oh this is my way of thinking and it’s the only right one’. Sending love and compassion,,
@sisselab
@sisselab Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, we should show women the love they need a cultivate a safe healing space for them. I don’t believe that’s achieved with the humiliation and derogatory of men, I believe that drags us way further down. It creates a sense of “most men” which just isn’t true. If problems were solved with hate, this world would be peaceful by now 💚

@@sisselab Sissel I’m happy that you had more good experiences with man than bad and that’s what makes you feel like it’s not most man (I suppose correct me If I deducted this wrong) but what if for other woman it’s the opposite? What if they had more bad experiences? Than for them it’s most man. So I think this is very subjective and not general truth. All love ❤️

ooo your conversation about healing and men was really lovely - i agree with you, but also i think bringing up that discussion from your own experience to highlight that your perspective has changed is so so powerful. i think sometimes we forget that people can transform, not just intentionally, but as a byproduct of new experiences and understandings, and so our perspectives and beliefs change too. so i really appreciate that conversation and also just the perspective that what's trendy, including "who we like" and "who we don't like" isn't everything, everyone's experiences are different, and sometimes perspectives are coming from a place of pain, which creates a totally different relationship to everything. anyways, it is always refreshing to hear such introspection and groundedness!!

I’m happy for you that you arę now in a space where u have good experiences w man and feel safe. Unfortunately this is not the case for everyone. Most of the times the experiences r bad and traumatizing. I look at it in a way that woman r just scared (rightfully so) and angry. Rather than calling it hate I would call it, being tired of man behaviours. I think that woman who r fortunate enough to feel safe around man should really understand that’s a really rare situation and don’t say that those type of tictoks are shameful, bc woman r just sharing online their experiences w man to help other woman be aware of the possible problems. ❤

It's so interesting how you talked about your relationship and your view of men. I watched that video about your journey in Korea and immediately remembered what you shared back then. The thing is, I relate to this topic due to my daddy issues. And the way I view men is usually very negative, I feel uncomfortable and unsafe around them, and whenever I want to talk to someone about any problems or difficulties I turn to women for help. I feel so uncomfortable around men because I always feel like I'm being sexualised and that's such an awful feeling. I don't even believe that every single man is bad or toxic, it's just that throughout the years and in my past I've had bad experiences (I'm not trying to reinforce this idea of men being the worse gender, not at all). Anyway, I'm still in the process of accepting the past and moving forward through healing. And Sissel, I really wanna thank you for opening up about this. It made me feel understood and it shows that working on your relationship with your own mind, body and soul really makes a difference in how beautifully our perspectives can change for the better (if we allow it to).❤

I’m so happy for you that you healed your relationship with men 🥰 I think this ‘hate on men’ is maybe just a part of the process.. after almost all of us have had traumatic experiences with men we just need some way of getting that hate out of our system because we don’t want to just feel like the victims.. so I understand where these “trends” are coming from but of course it shouldn’t go too far and we shouldn’t forget that the biggest problem is how society raised these men and maybe channel our aggressions that way and not on all individuals. Anyway I think you shouldn’t be too ashamed of your past self for making these statements because at the end it was a step in your journey that helped you heal and process that anger ♥️ but it’s great that you remind us not to take the hate too far ! - Lots of Love
@sisselab

I so understand where this come from, and I feel so bad for all us women who has trauma. Unfortunately I think this trend spreads to women without it too and changed the narrative. I didn’t heal by acting like this, if anything it kept me down for too long. I wish for more love in this world, being on tiktok made me feel so dark. Sending some light and love to you 💚

I think generalizing "men" as a whole is extreme. There is some good men out there, of course. But also, statistically we can't ignore the facts that men are mostly the ones in power, the ones that commit horrible crimes, that start wars, and usually also the same evil men are the ones we come across in our lives. So, I do get the whole "I hate men" thing, and I mostly suscribe to the idea as a funny joke, but I am aware that when I do joke about that, I am not referring to the entirety of men, just the ones who commit horrible crimes and abuse their power (as well as those who cover up for them). But yeah, this aside though, beautiful vlog as usual, those two places you chose for Jake's birthday were so cute in their own unique way, one giving a more cozy and intimate feel while still feeling high end and well decorated, and the other was more modern and perfect for a party, as you said. So yeah, thanks again for sharing bits of your daily life with us and letting us in a bit 😊
@sisselab
@sisselab Жыл бұрын
Yeah, very extreme. Especially because it makes young women believe that it’s most men as well, where in reality that’s far from true. I get the joke, but I just think I’ve realized that it’s a harmful joke 💚 Thank you love! 💚

I have my opinions, patriarchy is a real thing ofc and also I treat everyone with respect with no negative narrative. I do believe we need world social change, it is happening slowly and unfortunately encourages hatespeech towards men which is unacceptable. From research point of view I see where it is coming from, hundreds of years of mistreatment, sexism, misogyny, objectification and deciding about women bodies took its toll. I hope it is temporary and just an ugly moment in history. I believe in social change that will eventualy result in equal treatment, love, respect and understanding each other 🦋

Hello Sissel, I think that it would be really awesome if you could do a video about how you are healing your relationship with men. (Obviously it’s up to you😌) I also feel bad for following the trend sometimes… I’m in a relationship with a man and sometimes I find myself being not understanding when it comes to what men think because of my past relationships too… I’m trying to change that, I don’t want to be like this anymore. I don’t have many friends in a relationship right now and I wanted another perspective to help me. And since you talked about it and because you explain things very well, I’m jumping on the opportunity hehe. Sorry for the long text, have an amazing day sunshine ❤ sorry I’m French ans sometimes my English is crazy crazy 🤣

14:30 haha that was very honest of you. i feel the same way scrolling through tiktok, i think it can be very detrimental to your view of men in general and it can even affect irl relationships if you get too deep in the rabbit hole. it starts with light jokes and then you start thinking it for real, i was def part of it too

i think the misogyny and hatred of women that is being spread online (that is actually impacting young women irl) is more pressing than the 'man hating' you're talking about. especially since you live in korea i promise you the things men are saying about women are much more vile than whatever you said in that video
@sisselab
@sisselab Жыл бұрын
Nothing is more pressing than the other, both are problems needing to be fixed. Just because I speak out of one thing doesn’t mean I’m not actively an opposition to the other. I’m a woman and 85% of my viewers are women meaning I’m speaking to women. We can’t change the actions of men, only the actions of us. These two hatred waves are fueling each other and one will always keep going if the other does.
@himbeerlied1

@@sisselab Sorry but I find this comment so very ignorant. How can you really say woman and men are equally being treated as bad by the other group when you say “Nothing is more pressing than the other”? We still live in a patriachry and a world that is dominanted by men and misogyny and violence against women is still so so common whereas violence against men (which is also a problem of course) and hatred of men coming from women can not even be compared to this. Of course it is not okay to hate all men and these trends are stupid, because hate in general is. But to state we need to heal and to stop the hate towards men, as if women are the problem in this situations is again very ignorant and so wrong. Women don’t need to heal, they need the men to not be misogynistic and to not harm them. If the men wouldn’t behave that way and spread harm, women wouldn’t need healing. Of course not all men are bad, that’s not the point.

I totally agree with you. And Sissel’s comment here “the hatred waves are fueling each other” is simply just not true. The only reason women have begun to hate and hate on men is because of how we have been treated for a millennia. We’re tired of it and we’re finally speaking out and giving back the same energy that we have been dealt over and over and over again. The violence against women is NOT comparable to the pranks on tiktok or discussions or jokes. One IS worse than the other. And if you ( @sissel ) cannot see that, I suggest you do some research and inner reflecting. Girl, it’s ALL men until it’s NO men.

Sissel you've come a really long way and I'm so proud of you but I really cannot empathize with where you're coming from around the topic of men, as a woman living in South Korea knowing exactly the issues women have been facing for years regarding misogyny, issues you're a direct victim of, showing empathy for men comes off sooooo tone deaf and I don't think it needed to be shared, especially in the current climate and what's been going on, especially when you don't even get into these topics on your social media (which is very understandable of course and I don't expect you to), but you shouldn't show support for the perpetuators.

Wait wait wait wait… I’m saying that calling men evil spawn, making TikTok’s showing how to humiliate men, straight up sexist comments and views - yes I will forever stand by that that’s very out of touch and wrong. I’m ashamed of have been a part of that and I hope you can see how wrong that is too. On a completely other note, being careful around men, sharing your story, supporting women, etc, that’s another story. I hope you can see the difference 🙏🏻
@chris-en9xe
@chris-en9xe Жыл бұрын
@@sisselab I see the difference and I completely understand where you're coming from but I don't think online abuse on TikTok (which is often just a setup/fake) for the laughs is ever going to compare to what's happening to women because of men in real life, so if that can bring women some comfort, I personally don't see a reason to be against it. The abuse will never be equal but I respect your view on it
@sisselab
@sisselab Жыл бұрын
I see where you come from, I used to think this way too. At the end of the day I don’t think these are comparable. You can’t justify one evil with another, there are other ways to heal than to inflict harm to innocent people 💚

I think the point @chris is bringing to the table is that women behaviour on tiktok is a reaction to a situation rather than a separate action done without a cause. Is a victim reacting in the way they think is better for themselves.

@@chris-en9xe my thoughts exactly, ty for saying this. men being "bullied" online will never be the same as centuries of oppression, SA and murder. they're not even comparable.

I cannot stop thinking about the man hating conversation. Hearing that and reading some of your comments has honestly been very distressing. Women talking sh*t about men online is not the same thing as what men have done to women over thousands of years. Just because we’re finally vocal about it lol. And to sit there and say “well they’re both bad” is just plain ignorant. Even if we were to stop the men bashing and become silent again, it’s not like men will suddenly stop r*ping and k*lling us. We’re not in this state of the world because women are being loud. We’re here because men don’t know how to correct.

@@sisselab I didn’t imply that you said that at all. You said in a reply to someone’s comment about women hating men and men’s violence toward women that these fuel each other. But what men have done to women has been happening a lot longer. I in no way am trying to twist your words. I’m reading your replies on other comments. Sissel you’re one of my favorite creators, I’ve been watching your content for years. You’ve helped me a lot in trying to understand myself and become a better person. I hope you understand I am not trying to attack you, twist your words, or anything of the sort. I am responding to things you’ve said in these comments as replies. I’m sorry I’ve offended you and especially that I made you think I was implying what you responded. I don’t think you said that or believe that in any way. Edit: I reread my original comment cause I wanted to understand why you thought I said that. I think when I said something about “if we stop man bashing and being silent again” you assumed I meant that’s what you were saying. I did not mean silent as in stop sharing our experiences, I meant silent as in stop talking crap about men in general. I know you would never tell a woman not to share her/their experiences. I’m very sorry you felt I was saying that, that is not what I intended. I know you stand for women Sissel.
