I'm a very akward person weither it's in the romantic department or in the friendship department; I have trouble making conversations with people, eye contact feels very weird to me etc and I find that actually expressing it to the other person makes things easier. Just saying "hey I'm sorry I'm not really good at conversations, I'm very afraid to make things akward between us" can make you feel better and usually people avev very chill and sweet about it

Well You’re nicer about Powerless than me! That book is awful 🤦🏻♂️ Yes, that first half is EXACTLY Hunger games and the whole class system is straight Red Queen… And I noticed little things from other fantasy books… Like the Cinder market scene… The romance was so juvenile with cringy banter. I have to laugh when booktubers claim they love the world building 😂 There is NO world building. There’s no reason for those Hunger Game trials other than to steal half a book! The popular booktubers have rallied around the young booktok author and of course all their minions fall right into line. Ok, I’m done ranting😅

I can relate to what you were saying about dates. It’s very normal and I think it’s actually nice when you can tell intimacy/romance is something still special to somebody our age. I don’t know if you consider yourself a sensitive person but the book “the highly sensitive person in love” taught me a lot about opening up more because I also avoid romance sometimes (out of fear of getting hurt personally) but that book made me feel seen and made me value those parts of me more, it’s not a flaw.

just for the summer felt too much like a lit fic, than a romance, and it didnt feel like the vibe matched the vibe of yours truly and part of your world... it was just 2 people with tons of trauma, who need to work on themselves, but deciding to mix their trauma drama together to have a super messed up relationship. that couple broke up a week after the final page of that book and.im glad theyre solo now and can work on themselves. lol

Just for the Summer was my first (and only) five-star read of this year so far too! And I rated it five stars for similar reasons as to you. I've never read about a character with a fearful avoidant attachment style before and it was really nice seeing that in a romance book. For the most part, I've dealt with my fearful avoidant tendencies which is why I personally didn't like Emma at the beginning of this book because I think she reminded me too much of my past self and I've just grown so much from that behavior. But once I realized that I truly began to understand her and relate and like you said it was like reading about my past self. And Justin is my new book boyfriend. Loved him! Also glad to hear that reading that book expanded your perception of what you believed the romance genre could be. I think there are still many misconceptions and prejudices about the romance genre, which is upsetting, but I'm glad reading that book allowed you to see that the romance genre can be such a multifaceted as any other genre.

Hey Friend, Happy Tuesday. I love watching your videos and hearing more about the books that you Read. I like that you’re not in love with every book just because it’s romance. You have a deeper meaning of why you like or dislike a book. 😊 yes I agree taking the leap of faith with the person that you love is worth it regardless if it works out or not. I feel like all of my past relationships gave me a life lesson even though it put a hole in my heart. 😢 I love being able to relate to characters and doing the same things they do before reading the book. 😊🥰

I listened to the audiobook of Practice Makes Perfect and I 100% agree. I thought a lot of it was so cringey. Like she would be like “im so small and petite 🥺” (like quite literally saying how short she is MULTIPLE TIMES) and this girl was like late 20s early 30s but the way she spoke and acted was like an actual child. And the whole bad boy narrative didn’t even make sense because Will was actually a nice guy and continuously showed it through the book. All he had was tattoos 😭😭😭 idkk. it just kinda fell flat for me bruh 💀

I love your videos and I am so happy you finally got your plaque 😊 You’ve worked so hard, so congratulations! One little note though: Do be careful about what you say about triggers. Some traumas or experiences are not easy to “overcome” by yourself or at all. So people who need trigger warnings aren’t just “people who are running away” from something but often times they need professional help to learn how to cope with things (if it’s even possible). So please don’t generalize it 😉❤️

Question: can you read romance if the characters names are of people you know in IRL?
@PeaceofthePlans5 ай бұрын
Love your channel so much!!!...Congrats on 100K! I often hear you talking about your disdain for the "third act break up" in romances. I personally think this is a romance storytelling technique. The thrill is in trying to figure out how the couple is going to overcome the break up/conflict. As I'm reading a romance, I actually expect them to break up or face a conflict in their relationship at some point in the story. I can't think of one romance I've read that doesn't use this storytelling strategy. Granted, I haven't read every romance. However, the author needs to create some type of tension/conflict or else the story would be very boring. Can you suggest some romances that don't have a third act break up/conflict? I'm curios about this...
@khalilahd.5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! And I 100% agree but in my experience a good romance has the conflict in the middle and they work through their issues for the remainder of the book. What I hate is when they’ve already had a major conflict worked through it and at the last second have another one. That’s annoying in my opinion. Every story worth telling, in a book or movie, has to have a conflict or it’s just you watching clips from someone’s life so I understand the necessity of having something to resolve I just don’t like when it’s at the very end
