Man that came in THIC I love the color! The new PRG really does compete with KBG for color and texture! I’m 2 months into my overseed and we’ve had record drought here so I’m still having to run the sprinklers every day to keep the baby grass alive 😩. Those weeds are easy to take care of that you have at least. Keep pushing it!

Looking outstanding. Props to you for doing a full reno in the spring. No guts no glory, you will be fine. Tenacity should do you well and usually a 2nd app is necessary after you get your first mow or two in. I focused on thickening up the grass and as hard as it is I let the weeds go. Pulled out what I could so far. Clover is starting to come In heavy now. Might cave and treat the clover spots directly. Keep that PR grass jumping and mow mow mow. Looks beautiful and I believe you will be get it where you want it. Tremendous job with your reno. 🔥

I think it looks great Nate. You had to do what you had to do. I have more clover in my established lawn then you do in your full reno lawn. That's a pretty big area to do and it looks great and love the color. You can always re seed in the Fall the areas that are thin. Great job man.

I am learning some lessons now on seeding in the spring. First I did some leveling with topsoil that was full of crabgrass seeds. I seeded the bare spots and now there are hundreds of maple tree helicopter seeds from my neighbors yard sprouting all over my lawn which I am pulling out every day because they are competing with the grass seed. I used the Scott’s starter fert with weed preventer which I hope will suppress the crabgrass. I have PRG which I would like to overseed with KBG to fill in the Thin spots but I heard PRG is alleolopathic which could damage the KBG when it gets stressed. Still trying to decide what to do.
@PacificNorthwestLawns2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't have high hopes about the mesotrione killing the crabgrass. Just plan on using quinclorac later as a post emergent. If you can't tell I'm not a fan of that stuff. I think it's way over rated garbage. The maple tree saplings I wouldn't stress too much about. As soon as you start mowing, they'll start to die off. I have a KBG PRG mix in the backyard. It's never been an issue.
@yoko1802 жыл бұрын
@@PacificNorthwestLawns did you seed KBG and PRG at the same time? I wonder how it would work with overseeding a mature established PRG lawn with KBG?
@PacificNorthwestLawns2 жыл бұрын
@@yoko180 yes I did. You can purchase KBG and PRG mixed already. I used an 80% PRG, 20% KBG. Mind you that's by weight. By seed count its close to 50/50.

Yeah I appreciate the honesty of your videos I'm here in Eugene Oregon and I got a major problem with clumping Fescue or a course Fast Q am I gonna have to treat that the same as you did with your Is Paula trivialis vialis let me know what you're Thoughts
@PacificNorthwestLawns3 жыл бұрын
Clumping fescue you're going to have to dig it out or just use glyphosate and reseed it. You fortunately can to that successfully in the late summer or early fall.

Your hard work shows, the lawn looks great!! I think you're going about the weed issue the correct way. One question, do you think applying starter Fert along with the N-ext Seeding/Overseeding pack to be overkill?
@PacificNorthwestLawns3 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's not necessary and would probably do more harm than good. You could use the RGS with the starter fert but I wouldn't use both fertilizers.
@shtnrlse3 жыл бұрын
Don't take this wrong. I'm not a pro.. Your yard looks great. (Celebrate!!) .. Weeds coming (broad leaf+ a little crab grass)up are mildly treatable.I don't see any major washout. ..I have a tough time understanding how anyone could strip down to dirt for fall seeding in the NW, and not have sprouting down the street....... I think the Midwest+ fall seeding works for them....Not us... Looking Great!!!
@PacificNorthwestLawns3 жыл бұрын
What you didn't see I'd I already reseeded the washout stuff once. This will be round 3. 🙄 I still think Fall is better, soil temperatures are more consistent, less weed pressure, less likely to have any rain storm wash anything out. That being said, we certainly can get away with spring seeding.

Are you going to throw down more seed? We live in Camas and the past week has been conditions for new grass to germinate and grow. If you’re going to treat some of the bald spots think about pre- germinating the seed to get it going quicker after it’s down. I did this a week ago with some rye grass and the it’s already 3 inches tall. Keep plugging away!
@PacificNorthwestLawns3 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I'm looking to do. I've never tried it before but I saw a method on another YT channel I want to try out. I'm not far from Camas at all. Once this storm passes I'm hoping to get these spots filled in.

@@PacificNorthwestLawns I did it a few weeks ago with some very good results. Buy a bag of good soil, I used miracle gro with some starter nutrients, dump it in a wheelbarrow, mix it in the seed thoroughly, spray lightly with water, cover lightly with the soil bag, let it sit for 3-4 days then seed. I put some down this past Saturday and grass is already an inch tall. Keep us posted!
