Danke für ihre interessante Palmen Exkursion. Ich wohne in Lenzburg in der Schweiz. 6b. Thomas Graf

Thank you for the beautiful tour, so inspiring! This week we planted a little 3 year old sable minor in a full sun east facing area next to our house & hoping it survives. I'm in Maryland zone 7 & curious to know it's growth rate. I've been inspecting it every day since it's been planted lol.

Good odds for you. Throw a pile of leaves over it under 5F and you're good.

HELP? Bought three Windmill Palms for my Guntersville, AL lake home. Just hoping they'll survive. Need to know... do I put weed cloth and mulch around them? Yes? No? The trunks are all about 24" tall. Over all, 4' from ground up to the top.

Yes wood mulch like pine bark mulch is fine. I'd rather you use cardboard then the mulch on top instead of weed fabric. And yes I checked the zone for your city and they have good odds there. It is best to view my video on temps to protect them at before winter. When small and first year it is best to protect them maybe 1st year if you can when temps go under 21F.

Still looking good…. What kind of hard wood mulch is that your using? Bought at big box store or did you buy in bulk?

It's some black wood mulch I tried from HD. It sticks together weird I'm going back to pine bark mulch next

How are your managing with all the rain? I just put out two windmills, a pindo, and two sabal minors; one windmill is doing well, one sabal minor lost three of 6 fronds (browned out of nowhere), pindo looks ok, but just today one of the windmills had a spear pull. I think the rain is stressing them. Any suggestions?

The Sabals don't like root disturbance and may have had transplant shock which can sometimes kill them. Windmill palms can handle rain fine once established. You can spray all the spears with copper fungicide immediately after the rain stops and it is going to be dry for a few days.

Thanks @tntropics ! New to the palm community, relatively new to the TN area (4yrs), your videos have helped a great deal. Having moved from a much cooler (bad winters) area, the new options for plant variety compared to where I came from have me trying a lot of new things. Do you think I ought to rip the windmill with spear pull up and replace or give it time and TLC?

@@williammau6814 Most of the time a small windmill will regrow a spear so wait a month
