Spring vs Summer Flowering Bulbs. Planting dormant flower bulbs is the ultimate easy way to get a spectacular pop up flower garden, literally anywhere! Gardens, patios, walkways, backyards, front yards, you name it!
There's a million varieties to choose from, but amazingly they all fall into to general categories: Spring Bulbs and Summer Bulbs. Which one should you plant? The answer is, both of course!
In today's Quickie, we'll look at the main differences between the two types of bulbs to plant, when to plant each one, and of course some examples of each to get you started!

FYI for your listeners and you 😄 The flowers you show for summer bloom are actually a spring bloomer. I have these all over my garden and I mean ALL over, even places where they shouldn't be. Great naturalizer called Chionodoxa, aka Glories of the Snow, c.1883 from Turkey. They are deer resistant, zone 5 blooms in April (blooms somewhere with or after large crocus) Makes lovely cut or pressed flowers.

I have loads of bulbs and I never dig any up to “store” if the daffodils growing all along the highway in my are can flourish and spread every year without aid I’m sure mine will too. I have planted lots of new parrot varieties and can’t wait to see them all come spring. Have a great week Jeff 🐝 safe

Also considered a summer bulb. Same with Cannas...yes, they are elongated, but they are all frost-intolerant and lumped in with summer "bulbs".
