Matfield is the greatest forward I've seen live. He wasn't Bakkies-level violent but he was efficient, and I have never seen such an brilliant lineout man. its not just about being athletic, he used his brains and footwork to be in the right place to frustrate any opponent
@kainoizking3 ай бұрын
The recency bias is craaaazy with these guys man. People don’t understand how good Matfield was. Probably the most elite line out operator we’ve ever seen. But it was also his leadership qualities. He was a leader of men. Coming from a kiwi, he’s the greatest lock of all time in my opinion. I feel like it’s easy when you have a generational team and coach (like the Boks currently have) to think every player is the best player. Matfield stood alone almost as the premier lock in world Rugby in a time when Springbok rugby was all over the place.
@randomlyfactual19432 ай бұрын
Yeah you see that over the place. Last year I read an article from someone asking whether Owen Farrell is the greatest England fly-half ever. Now, I'm old enough to remember the horrors that Wilkinson did to us and it sounded absolutely absurd. Heck just a month or so ago, there was a Twitter war over whether Antoine Dupont was the GOAT of rugby - an idea that is nothing short of laughable to anyone living in New Zealand or South Africa. Recency bias is the new Dunning Kruger Effect.

Respect Los Pumas. Totally agree only 1 angle was shown on KLA's card. Pollard should have moved to 12 when Manie came on and Am to 13. If Rassie want to play manie which is the nr 10 in Willie le roux form leave a kicker on the pitch. Move Pollard then to 12 or when SFM is back move him to 12 or 15. Just like butch James he didn't kick Percey or Frans Steyn kicked. Give that to manie. Manie's high kicks play making and try assist skills is natural can't be thought. Manie does have talent however I feel he need a kicking coach and sport phycologist to help him get out of his head in pressure moments. The only kicker in the position to offer manie a contract that can coach him personally is Andre Pretorius otherwise I would say Vlok Cilliers. Unless the stormers are will to pay Quade Cooper as kicking coach
