Time to put the Weihrauch HW80 against the HW90, spring against gas ram.
The wind was quite challenging today even when adjusting the windage to compensate for the blustery conditions.

HW 80. If you only had one gun this would be a fine choice Bought mine in 89. Never dismantled it. Still perfect accuracy. Lovely bit of kit.

Hello My friend, I've wanted an HW80 since being twelve years old, and I finally got one when I was in forty-eight, in 2018. Their stocks have recently been greatly improved, though when I bought mine, with respect, they were dull, bland, and not worthy to carry such an iconic action. After a while considering it, I made my own stock. I stepped back and thought about it and how I wanted it to be. I'm no Minelli, I have hand tools, a black and decker workmate, a kitchen, and a will to succeed. I laminated my stock using Wanut and Ash and finished it in Linseed Oil. The style is based on predators, not carbon copy carvings, just suggestions. I was very pleased with how it turned out. While making the gunstock, I had the action tuned. It represents a lot of things to me and is very special.

Hello My friend, I was shooting from my one man hide at the weekend, after corvids. I'd love to use my HW80k, but there would be too much movement and noise to be successful. I sit all in position with my pcp, all I have to do is pull the trigger and then re load with the cocking lever. With my 80, I'd have to pull the long air rifle out of position and back again, break the barrel, locate and install another pellet, latch up and turn the safety on, and reposition, all in a tiny hide. It's a no-brainer. The quarry would be long gone. I'd love to use my 80, though.

@@ianwoods1384sounds like you need either a HW77K or TX200HC maybe the Diana 54 Air King which is side lever and semi recoiled all 3 guns will out shoot almost any average airgunner and all 3 have their own unique character first two being Carbine undercover don't require too much space and the last yes side lever is a bit different but the semi recoiless action has made it my top springers buy next. I have the original mk1 HW77K and HW90 both incredible but the shorter barrels make them so much more manageable. There are a few alternatives from HW and AA but you get the idea.

I started out with a can of JSB Exact Diablos 13.73gr, 20 cal in my HW90. It shot so well that I never tried any other pellet. However, I realized a certain hold was the key to extreme accuracy, which did take a lot of practice to confirm. After about 1500 shots now, I'm still shooting the same pellets.

I have found that it's a little more hold sensitive that a springer but not massive when figured out. JSB is one pellet I've never really played a out with other than the standard 8.44 and 10.34 in .177 I know plenty of different weights and heads and lengths, just too tight to splash the cash on a tin due the price of them 😆

Hello My friend, You have two quality springers there, which are a challenge to shoot accurately, even in calm conditions, never mind windy. It's always nice to hit the bull with a springer. I'm always thinking of where and how I hold the springer as I'd say, however, you hold one, meaning where on the fore end you place your hand and how tightly you hold the gun overall will I'd say effect your accuracy. It's annoying not getting tight groups, even though I put much more effort in than with a pcp. Although pcp's are easier to shoot, they're handier too, with a cocking lever and magazine, meaning you have a quick follow up shot and you're not constantly cocking a barrel to reload pellets individually. There's a guy here called Dave Ratz. I've never seen anybody shoot an HW80 like he does and the ranges he shoots at. He's a fantastic air rifle shooter all round. Thank you for posting your film.
@keith6930
@keith6930 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I really enjoyed shooting when seated and resting the elbows on my knees, this gave me an ideal feel for the balance of where and how to hold the fore end as well as how tight to hold and shoulder. It's a little different off a bag or rest but still a gentle control with the leading hand always helps
@ianwoods1384
@ianwoods1384 2 ай бұрын
@keith6930 Hello My friend, Without meaning to overexaggerate, holding the fore end in different places will alter the balance of the gun in the split second function of the recoil. Also, if you're shooting off a bean bag or any rest, I'd always put the palm of your hand on first, then the fore end on the palm of your hand. Without meaning to go overboard and ridiculous, if you wore a thin t shirt, then a puffer jacket, that is thought to alter your accuracy as the stock has a different resistance to recoil against. As I learn and understand what I've read and been told, everything you do on every shot must be exactly the same, or whatever is different will impact your accuracy. This attracts some people as a challenge, though pushes others towards pcp's.

@@ianwoods1384 consistency is everything with shooting a spring air rifle that's for sure. Change the variables and you'll likely get different results. I've enjoyed shooting off hand and with sticks so using a bag all of a sudden felt very odd and strange

hw 90`s are simpel to service , Always remove the triggerunit before getting the internals out , or you will damage the gas ram unit and let the air out !!!!!! before , its the same ventil /valve that used in car tire tubes . same tool can be used . in full power 26 bar fill . but in the uk you have to chrony and tap light on the ventil wit a little pin or so to get pulses of air out till its legal .
