The Springfield Hellcat OSP has 4 lugs under the plate. The Holosun 507K does not fit natively. In order for the Holosun 507K to fit the side has to be modified. Specifically, the 2 rear lugs need to be milled flush and the 2 front lugs need to be reduced. Holosun is releasing an “upgraded” version of the 507K in September (likely due to the Trijicon lawsuit). As of the date of this video Holosun has not released a complete list of the changes only that they are “relocating the buttons” and that the “footprint will not be changing due to the fact that the 507K is waterproof.”
I’m not a milling expert, machinist, gunsmith, etc … just your typical “hands-on” type guy. I’m not opposed to paying for work when required (or feeling lazy), but do generally at least consider DIY. The gunsmith at my LGS told me he’d do the job for $50. I already own a Dremel and some bits, so there wasn’t any investment on my part, so I chose the DIY route. Start to finish it’s about a 20-30 min job. It took me a good hour because I forgot to retape the screw holes and therefore had to disassemble and clean.
Tools Used:
1. Dremel
2. Dremel bit #9903
3. Dremel bit #83702
4. Metal file
5. T 10x4 screwdriver
I ran the #9903 bit on speed 1; Dremel bit #83702 on speed 2.
I’m happy with the outcome, really like the 507K and Holosun’s in general. I have Holosun’s on some rifles and other pistols, so so standardizing as much as possible is important to me. This is why I didn’t go with another brand.
