as you briefly touched on.. I imagine there is less 'anti-islam' black metal bands because most artists who create black metal (and certainly its' founders) come from countries under christian moral rule and is a reaction against this. if middle eastern countries become more liberal and secular i expect their black metal would be the MOST anti-islamic.. especially after years of theocratic rule

I have a question for you Jerry...why is it that some Fins sound kind of robotic when they speak English? I noticed that with Werwolf from Satanic Warmaster when you interviewed him and with Henri Sorvali of Moonsorrow as well. Is it because they speak a certain dialect of Finnish that kind of flows that way when they speak?
@RautaMetal5 жыл бұрын
I wish I could tell you that, but I really don't know. I wasn't even paying attention to their style until someone mentioned it here. Guess it has something to do with dialect and like you kinda pointed out the flow is very different from other styles. Finnish as language is so different from English that it's hard to keep that good flow going. I guess being a little robot is a Finnish thing!
@metalthrashingmadman15995 жыл бұрын
@@RautaMetal well I suppose it's normal to sound a little robotic in the sense that it's not your first language but I feel a lot of Nords (if that's even a word lol) speak it very well especially Danes because a lot of them barely have an accent when they speak it but I will say you Fins speak it very well it's just some sound robotic like I said lol. I wonder if it's the similarity Finnish has to Hungarian/Romanian because the guys I pointed out kinda sound Romanian accent wise. As you can tell I find these things very fascinating haha

@@danieltroche6019 I see what you're saying but I really do think some Fins and maybe even some Romanians have kind of a robotic cadence when speaking English. I feel like it's not because it's their second language but has to do with how their first languages are spoken

About "humorous" bands... since Immortal has new album coming out soon (and I am afraid), have you ever thought of doing video about Immortal. Black Metal is very serious genre mostly but for some reason Immortal and Abbath especially have always got free pass on being goofy and camp every now and then. I love immortal but they have this very unique quality to them. EDIT. Good answer about islam and BM, btw. And gotta respect bands that don't do interviews just to do interviews.
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
Yep, Immortal was a major thing for me when I started to dig BM in mid/early 90's. I was never too much bothered by their not-so-serious aspect of the genre. Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North are still important albums to me. I could think of doing an Immortal discography video or maybe a classic album review. Good idea, thanks!

To be fair while interviews can be fun, some bands like Clandestine Blaze, Mgla, Warloghe etc... are not really interview bands per-se. I know there have been interviews in the past, but you can tell they want some form of blockage between them and the remainder of the world. Some bands it works out way better imo. I remember the second half of the 90s Darkthrone were something of an enigma and it was way better that way. Fenriz is now more of a cartoon character because of all the media attention he got, albeit one who I would love to sit and drink with! Anti-Islamic bands exist, or at least bands who write stuff with an anti-Islamic bent. I'm sure that a good few NS bands have targeted Islam as well as a few bands like Impious Havok did a track or two with names like "Desert Filth" insulting the people of the crescent moon etc... Also there are some fucking ballsy bands that have come from the Middle East. I'm not keen on their albums, but the demo Ayat did is one of the most pissed off things I heard last decade. Oh... and politics and shit.
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
SCUMM Yes,you're right that some people are not "fit" to do interviews for video. I could think Aspa of CB/NH would fit though. He just he doesn't feel like doing one. Gotta respect that. And yes, I have lots of respect metal bands coming from Middle East. Totally different thing to come from there than from the Nordic countries.
@loremipsum67986 жыл бұрын
Mgła did some interviews (2 in totall if I recall correctly) for polish press after they released "Exercises..." - but then again, they were press interviews and as I found out it was hard to get to these guys. And it's not even about enigma and staying anonymous like in Deathspell Omega's case - everybody knows who Mgła members are, also their session musicians do the interviews about their other bands and projects. It's more about removing "human" factor from the music, even at their gigs - they are playing in balaclavas, hoods and leather but it's not some kind of "we are the dark legion" gimmick. It's about removing creator from its creation. They don't use smoke, scenography, choreography nor extensive lighting - it more in the spirit of minimalism. And, what's interesting, it works for them pretty well. They started touring not so long time ago. They got no marketing, no promotion, no interviews, no big label. Their first gig with new album was sold out 3 months before the show and it was quite big venue for polish standards. As SCUMM said, keeping enigma can also be good for the band, especially studio bands like DSO - when you listen to these purely evil sounds you don't think about a drummer going in a break between the recording session to get groceries. You don't imagine bass player sharing some cheesy jokes or doing funny faces or singer screaming "arse!" to the mic for shits n giggles when doing a vocal tracks. On the other hand "anonymous" band often feel cheesy about the whole MUH SECRET CULT aura and it seems like a bait sometimes - what's your opinion on the subject, Jerry?
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
+Żaba Zbrodniarz You got some very good points there. I agree with most of what you said. To me this big mystery thing doesn't matter anymore, even though I am a person with very good imagination! After all, I play role-playing games as a hobby and can enjoy a lot of fiction in literature, movies, games etc. I used to have fun time thinking back in the days how people like Fenriz and Nocturno culto were in their free time. That is when not doing Darkthrone. Did they eat cereals? Wash their own dirty underwear? Do the dishes while listening to some noise on tv or radio or maybe listening to some good music? Where they romantic guys in bed or being brutal fuckers with groupies? Who knows, who cares. As I got older, and got better graps of adulthood, living by myself and doing mundane tasks and also my mindset gettting darker, I started to think more in realistic ways. Like no matter how evil shit there is done in the bands, most guys and girls just do everyday stuff because they have to. It doesn't matter if they read a book, play with game console, do groceries or cook dinner - they are, after all, human beings. Like Werwolf said in the SW interview: people who pretend they are not doing that are posers. So, to me it doesn't matter if the drummer does cheesy jokes, makes funny faces or tells stories about his womanizing conqueror trips or whatever. It doesn't ruin the band for me. Yet at the same time I totally get the feeling about removing human factor. It can make a difference. But what contradicts me - and I guess this requires a video to explain this properly - is that sometimes bands say how bm is way more than music: lyrics, ideology etc. yet they might not print those lyrics or tell about their views in interviews. So it's like "talking the talk but not walking the walk" and that kind pisses me off.
@impossible71636 жыл бұрын
Man, long interview/conversation with Aspa would be cool. He is a fascinating guy in Finnish BM scene... he does what he wants and says what he wants and usually with good success. But he also doesn't do anything that he feels uncomfortable with.

Hi man! 2 questions: - What are your maxes in powerlifting? - Would you be willing to review a CD if I send you one?
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
Hi! I've been actually expecting somebody to ask these questions :D First of all, I have always sucked at benching. My biceps are so weak and I have had hard time getting stronger with this. So, it's as lame as 115 kg. Squat and deadlift is going decent: 212,5 and 242,5 kg respectively. Raw lifts obviously. Gotta say I started lifting way too late: I was 32 or 33 when I entered the gym for the first time. But there you have it. Yes, I'm getting requests every week regarding a review and of course I review the stuff I get sent. I usually review all the stuff both for Rauta and Imperiumi (www.imperiumi.net). Just send me email or facebook message to get the street address.
@PodlyZbigniew6 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm glad I could be the first one to ask :) Really good results there! Indeed bench press seems to slightly stick out compared to other lifts, but still it better than not lifting at all! You could definitely try to spot the weakest link in the whole bench press movement, perhaps it is not really the biceps, but rather triceps that might play a bigger role. There are many little elements that might be cousing it. Of course this is also technique dependent. I also lift, but my maxes are slightly lower :P and I also started late, unfortunately or rather I should say I started to train consciously only recently. As for the review, I'll drop you a private message on FB in a moment. Cheers!
@RautaMetal6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Oops and of course I meant tripces not biceps! It seems my biceps inflammation is too much in my mind so I wrote biceps when I ofc meant triceps (as for know I can not lift anything because of this inflammation, so I'm just having a training break here). It took me a long time to get that 225 lb / 100 kg and it felt such an achievement even thought it's not much iron. It might be also a technical reason like having a bad form or whatnot, but for me the mid-part of the lift has always been the fail zone. So, I've been trying to fix that. I have also been cutting weight since October (when I was around 100 kg) so that has also made beating the old records (from last year) a little bit harder. Now I'm around 92-93 kg which is more comfortable. Just too bad this biceps flammation made me have a break here. Should I break my old records this summer, I most likely can't keep my mouth shut about it on this channel either :D Yep, drop me a message and mention the release name, release date etc. so we can continue from there. Cheers!

why there is no anti islam bands? first, that is wrong, second, Jerry answered it in a way. anti islam is not so pronounced in black metal for a simple reason: black metal bands we all know about come from a christian countries, or majority christian countries to be more precise. they sing against (abrahamic) religion. why would a band from france or norway sing against islam, it is not religion that is major in the place where they are from. there are many black metal bands from the middle east, that have anti religious themes, and guess what? majority of them sing against islam, not christianity. they are just not popular bands. same way here in europe, just the other way around. and more importantly, is there a difference between islam and christianity? if someone think there is, and prefer one over another, i think black metal is not something they will enjoy so much. dont be hypocrite.

Okay endig at 1:26! "I'am not right wing, I'am not left wing". Politic is devided in left and right, that stams from the french Parlament in the 18th century and his seating arrangements: The politician who are for emancipation of all the people, who are open to foreign and looking forward are sitting on the left hands side. The politician who are emphasize the difference between people, who are distrustful to foreign and looking more backward are sitting on the right hands side. And thats it, there is no middle, either... or! People who begins with that sentence are ever rightwing, ever!!! I now what comes next and didn't have to continue watching. And following comments like: "You are wrong...", "You fucking bastard...", "your english sucks..." and so on, all rightwing people. It's every time the same shit everywhere and that's fucking boring in my opinion!

But if I got you right... you are saying that you have to be a self-claimed leftist or else...
@Humanophage6 жыл бұрын
Well, did you consider that right-wing people are more likely to say you are wrong and a bastard because you recite the talking points of left-wing politicians while conveniently ignoring their downsides, while caricaturing the right-wing politicians? It really is rich to say, "right-wing people tell me I am wrong, that's so boring!" At any rate, "Open to foreign" - open to which "foreign"? E.g., the current US left is very upset about being open to Russia. EU left is often upset about being open to the US. The moment the "foreign" is right-wing, white, etc., then he is no longer wanted by the left. "Foreign is good" if it promotes your talking points. "Emphasise the difference between people"? That is not the opposite of emancipation. For example, if you want to emancipate the working-class, then you must emphasise their difference from the rest. Why, right now you are emphasising differences between right-wing and left-wing people. You right-wing pogromschick, you! The opposite of "emphasising differences" is "glossing them over", not "emancipating people"; the opposite of "emancipating" is perhaps "imposing restrictions". "Looking more backward"? What if in the past, people were more left-wing? Is a nostalgic Russian KPRF member right-wing or left-wing? Wants emancipation (presumably), hates some foreigners (US, but not e.g. Cuba), looking backward (USSR, though also forward to its re-establishment).
@Otze19806 жыл бұрын
I didn't wrote about politicians, more about each individual and his thinking! every people is right or left their is nothing between. It is not a crime to have a right wing meaning in generel and it isn't alway the truth to be left wing! Thats not my opinion, it is what it is! In your second passage the same problem. I didn't speak about politicians! For example the communists are named left-wing, but was it left-wing from Stalin to kill 20 Million people with an opposite opinion? Was that freedom or equality between all people? I don't think so! Maybe it is hard to discribe my way, to write rules for anyone in anytime. It have to become a feeling... If you're in a clinch with a foreign or a black if you're white it is okay to argue against him, it's okay not to be agreed with every single person but it got nothing to do with the color of his skin and not sure with his cultural origin! Russians can be cold and cruel but not everyone of them are so! Not every black people are loos and stuff like that. With looking backwards or forewards I mean more to be open for new stuff or the will to keep everything how it ever was. Maybe it's more a question of the intresting vor each other and honesty. Thanks for your arguments!!!

But I really can't see myself dying for some asshole who just happens to live in the same country with me. Just because we share the same language, currency and president doesn't mean he or she is on my side and vice versa. I find more brotherhood in many other likeminded people who might live in the other side of the world, doesnt matter if the culture, language, race or whatever is different.

Recent times can change that easily.

A nazi is a nazi. It's so easy. It's a label according a political ideology. For example: I'm white, german and straight, but I'm also left wing but I don't like stupid flat attitude and statements. Every political current can do that. What you think, do and how you behave will make you a nazi or even not. Being a straight finnish guy is nothing bad.

Black Unicorn Thanks. I totally agree with you.

So you are a cultural Marxist of the Frankfurt school and enjoy yourselfs being replaced by the enemy. German antifa are such cucks.

And you seem to be the narrow-minded, less-educated person I thought you would be like, when I first saw your classic-rightwing-copycat-nickname. :D Which leads me to your way of doing a "reasonable" conversation, throwing your insults on people to which you don't agree. Bad played young padawan, to argue you need to learn. This is below my level doing a conversation, especially doing a discussion. Cultural Marxist this isn't even a real scientific naming, it just right wing cant to name your ideological enemies or easily the people who don't think that the skin colour is a lable for genetic quality.

Black Unicorn cultural Marxist are morons like you who think there communist Spock’s with logic that will save everyone. Go read more of your hero’s trotsky and lenin murderers. Look up cultural Marxist degenerates. Only a Frankfurt school self hating commie would say there’s no such thing as cultural Marxism idiot.🤔🖕🏻🇺🇸👌

being a nazi means identifying with an ideology and belief system that belonged to conquered people. Nazis got their asses handed to them. There is nothing wrong with hate, but hating for superficial reasons such as race, ethnicity, etc... is low level cowardice. It also displays a lack of originality, and a desire to move backward, rather than evolving as an individual

Bjorn, what I said is that in my opinion to be a nazi means to be a dumb fuck, especially in XXI century. And however stupid people may be in general, I'm glad that believing that someone who hates somebody because of reasons that hated person had nothing to say about (such as skin color) is fucking dumb - yeah, that's a relief that it is still a mainstream opinion. And sole fact that some opinions are mainstream doesn't devaluate them - if you're such a contrarian try not to breathe, since lotsa people do this.

Reminder that we were talking nazism here. Not alt-right, not nationalism, not anti-globalism. Nazism. Not the heritage-preserving, everybody-to-each-own guys. The holocaust, Europe-on-fire, world domination guys.
