I'm new with orchids. My finace` bought some because he forgot my birthday 😂. I don't know if I trust myself to trim away the bad roots. Any advice from any one of y'all? It has already stopped blooming. And he had the bright idea since he read they live in a humid climate to put them outside for a day while I was spending time with a cousin. We live in South Louisiana, Crowley. I need help with my beautiful babies. Thank you all.

Any roots that aren't white, light green, and crunchy looking. Black, flat, flabby roots go. The mistake so many people make is overwatering. They draw moisture from the air, so a little water on the potting medium is all it takes. Make sure they don't sit in water, like if it's in a pot inside a pot. Pour the water out.

@@lindacornetti7890 thank you so much. I feel mine need fresh potting mix. I know I would need to purchase orchid potting mix. I only have a Lowes garden center and Walmart in our little town. Any recommendations? I run a humidifier at night next to where I have them with my Christmas cactus in an east facing window. Their leaves seem to be thriving. Merci beaucoup!
