A long time ago I saw a clock that had 12 numbers on a chain that hung from a sprocket that rotated at one number per hour, it seemed kinda cool but not very useful as a clock, so I had the idea to make an anachronistic hours: minutes numerical display clock, I started by designing the numbers and having them laser cut and refining the design until it looked like this, the process of building and designing it was too tedious to film, but I have made videos of building sprockets etc.
I tried to keep this interesting (for the first half of the video anyway) and ran the motors at 5 volts for part of the video to show what was happening more clearly, I included my high quality wiring diagram for the switches too.
‪@Clickspring‬ not sure if this is exactly in your wheelhouse, but while you probably won't see this you definitely won't if I don't "at" you :)

Here's a sped up video showing the operation over a ~ 12 hour time period. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHacoJ9ropuDeZo

That is so cool 👍 Can you make the basic plan shareable?… I love to make something like this myself. Im a machinist myself and have a workshop with machinery and stuff 👍😀

Thanks! Part of it is drawn up but a lot is made to fit, look at clickspring if you want to give your workshop a workout, I did all of this with a belt grinder, drill press, files, wood jogs and a hammer.

That is a clock I can relate to. Excellent stuff

Cheers! Speaking of microwaves I was considering using a turntable motor to drive the minutes signal, may still have to look on to that.

Looks like it's driven with windscreen wiper motors.
@lapislignum
@lapislignum 2 жыл бұрын
They are motors from the air conditioning module in a car, this is pretty small. windscreen motors are good things though, and I would use them on a bigger clock.

@@lapislignum Aren't those actually servo motors? They are becoming more and more common.
@lapislignum
@lapislignum 2 жыл бұрын
These aren't servo motors, these use PI feedback for positioning but I'm just using them as geared down motors.
