Changed battery on my 2010 RT today. The 2010 is slightly easier in terms of removal of battery. You still have to remove side panel. The dummy connector is different and unclips. Was a pain replacing panels. Thank you for making the video.

Good info. I actually couldn't find it on my manual. I have a 2012 RTS and the manual really skips the battery replacement portion of it. So this will help. Thanks

That was enormously helpful thank you!I could not get to the forward bolt on the side panel but managed to slide the back end of the side panel out from behind the side locker to get to the positive terminal. All that was after having to disengage the seat latch as the key would not turn at all to unlatch the seat. Still working on how to fix that one 😏Anyway, AWSOME video, thank you !

For the time spent working to change battery it is EASIER to remove the BACKREST and SEAT. I have done this both ways. And yes the manual is WRONG. you do have to remove at least the one panel to get at the POSITIVE termanel. The backrest has to screws on top to loosen and three in trunk. then remove the two seat bolts ( rag in center hole) takes about two minutes

Something to be said about ease of Harley maintenance, which is the first thing I discovered when I bout my '12 RT-Limited. A real pain in the a$$ to work on.

Hey, Bob! I changed the battery on my 2012 RTSE5 (A&C) yesterday. Watched your video before I decided to do it. Very helpful! Thanks. P.S. I forgot to put the retention strap back on the battery box before I buttoned it up. I'm riding 4 hours round trip tomorrow. Then I'll put it back on next week. I can't think of a way that battery could dislodge itself on a day trip. Where could it fall to? It is hard to remove when everything is disconnected and taken apart!

Ken Morrow I wouldn’t worry about it. Like you said the battery cant go anywhere. Have a good ride!

@@FinlessBob I'm not even going to make a special trip in there to put it back on. I tossed the strap in the bottom of the rear trunk and will leave it there until the next time I have to remove that panel next to the rear seat hand hold.

For the sake of simplification, could u add a the list of tools and the time of when u start talking about replacing the battery in the description?
