Thank you, directions were pretty good. Saved me at least $100 in labor and seemed like this process was easier than the first method as detailed by Can Am.

Pierre - - - THANK YOU so much for this video!!! I'm a new 2012 RT owner and storing in the garage for winter here in Rochester NY. Got a Noco2 charger/maintainer and was hoping for an easy connect under the seat. From a Spyder Lovers community thread others recommended to "just do it the right way" directly to the battery but i didn't want to be removing panels and open a pandoras box and screw something up. I started w a Noco2D but realized no great place to mount it under there and unable to disconnect the unit from the wiring so i switched to the Noco2 w the X-connect or whatever the call the junction bw the unit's cabling and the connectors to the battery. Let them rest under the seat (not quite long enough to get exposed behind/under the seat. Your video was a life-saver in guiding me thru the process of removing panels etc. Getting back seat off first to raise the released seat even higher was great. Thanks for being so thoughtful to post your video. I'll be much more inclined now to do things myself and save some bucks in the process. Appreciate you!!

Thanks so much for the video. I have recently inherited my Spyder from my brother when he passed in October last year. I have had the pleasure of riding it for many months when he first bought the bike and about 18 months when he decided he was not using it enough and left it with me. Batteries have been the bane of my existence having had to change them twice - these were done by the dealer who must have rubbed their hands in delight when I took the bike to them. The cost was over $200 AUS which I thought was bloody expensive. I had been using a charger to boost the battery but eventually that didn't work - so off to the dealer. Your video will enable me to change my own in the future, The other issue I had/have is with the brakes. Front and rears don't seem to last terribly long. Once again, I have had to change pads 3 times in the last 18 months. Not sure if it's the quality of the pads or my style of riding? Either way, I reckon the quality is very suspect. Have you produced a video on changing the brakes on the 2012 Spyder? I've seen some others but the production quality leaves a bit to be desired. Once again, many thanks for your work.

Thanks for the kind words, no video on that. You should go with EBC brake pads....that's what we use.

Definitely helpful, thank you! But... at this point in my life I'm not sure that I need the mental gymnastics anymore, just to swap out a battery.🙄 Thank God my son was helping me... OK, doing most of it. Having me out of the way was probably the biggest help! 😆

Pierre, I've been riding bikes for a long time, but couldn't get my wife to ride with me, even though she said she would. We're in our 60's. So, I got rid of the motor cycles and got a 2012 RT SE5, with only 7K miles! Still looks new and she's excited about some short trips. 👍😎 Thanks again. I'll definitely be checking your videos out.

Thanks for the video. I was able to connect a pigtail for the battery tender by finding the battery under the seat and following the instructions to remove the plastic to get to the terminals. Good job!

Thanks Pierre, Thanks for the vid. I was going to do an oil change and possible battery change on my new to me in August 11 rt and was wondering how to get the battery out. By watching this vid I found out how plus how to make the oil change easier by not taking off as many panels 👍

Thank you for your video. Am removing battery on my RT and your video was very helpful. The screw at the back under the seat is difficult to remove so I will replace with a bolt so I can access easily next time. Merci beaucoup, très instructif.

Thanks Pierre, I wish I had seen this before I started exploring. I bought a third hand (I’m number three) Spyder RT with under 13000km. In as new condition. I had heard that the battery terminals loosen off and had a look under the covers and yes the negative was finger tight. A squirt of gasket goo can hold the battery nut in place or a wedge of plastic such as fuel pipe. Anyway thanks again, oh if you have Jig a Loo, (it’s made in Montreal) it’s great as a dry lubricant and ideal for those rubber grommets!

class act, ty very much. I respectfully would ad that taking out the center bolt on the gas tank plastic will allow more flexibility to get after the push clip and star screw underneath. Thanks again!

Just changed battery on my 2010 RT. Could not have done it without watching the video first. Found the first screw very difficult to remove had to use a slim ratchet driver and bit. Getting side panel back in was also a pain. Otherwise went smoothly.

I have a 2011 Can AM Spyder RTS-SE5. On the newer models the battery is mounted in the front trunk. Can the battery be relocated to the same place of the newer models by extending the battery cables? Sounds like a better location anyway to have future access to battery for service.

Pierre, Australia's sun is a bastard. During summer, the temperatures are often over 38 - 40 degrees. This has had a major effect on the windscreen of my Spyder - it looks starred, like fine cracks through the thickness of the screen. I'm hoping some of your viewers may have found a way to polish the screen. The plastic on the bike is similarly showing its age. I have seen videos of a heat gun re-melting the plastic to bring up the shine of the plastic. I would love to hear your thoughts on how I might overcome these issues. Cheers

Great video first and foremost, tremendous help, would like to add to it if I may, the 2 long bolts for the seat hinge have a couple sleeves, not sure how hard it's going to be to get those back in, your video entails removal, I could only imagine, waiting on battery now, also I bought mine used, 4,500 miles, and already had a chinese junk oversize battery in it, dont make that mistake, stay away from China at all means possible.and get the right size, I had to butcher it to get it out. again great help!!!!!

I think that it would be safer and more practical to always disconnect the negative post first to prevent accidental grounding when getting to the positive.

If you put a piece of tape around the nut for the seat bolts it will hold the square nuts in place and they wont drop out.

I was able to remove and replace my battery - without removing any panels, the positive wire with the fuseblock needs to be popped off the frame, the fuseblock is attached with a pushin connector, then there is enough room for the battery to come out far enough with the positive connector attached where it can be disconnected - but man - and extra half inch on thos positive wires would have made a huge difference !

Huge shout out for this video. I was able to do this on my own via watching video. Bought a mighty max battery off walmart.com for under $60 usd. Little tricky putting seat back in and found I needed to align before final tighten of bolts. My dealer would have charged me over $400 for this, 😃 luv the savings and I learned a lot about the bike.
