Thank you for that your opinion. I have both of these. I enjoy both really, both are great in use for different things.

Honestly I think the delica killer is the fact that in 2021 the delica and endura are about 80 or $90 when they were $60 they were competitively priced knives and now Spyderco competes against itself and it also has to deal with things like the excellent knives from Civivi, kizer, and even kershaw

Hey man, great video, but I think this grading scale isnt the best. It puts the same amount of weight on each win however minuscule the difference. For example, the scales category win for this has the same amount of weight as the steel category even though the Chaparral wins the steel category by several yards. Essentially, the minuscule scale difference has the same weight as the large gap in steel. I think you should award both knives points out of 3 in each category. For example, give the Delica 3 points in scales vs the Chaparrals 2 points in scales, while giving the Delica 1 point in blade steel vs the Chaparrals 3 points in blade steel. Great vid and hope this makes sense!

Super helpful and great video. Thanks! Argh. So hard to decide BUT I think I’ll try Chaparral because I love the clip. Just wish I could flick it. Subscribed. Good luck with your channel 👍🏼

The Chaparral is a great knife! But i can purchase it in one steel CTS-XHP (good steel). And i have all of 1 color option on fern handle- gray. Base model is 125.25$ The Delica i can purchase in k390, vg-10, s30v - and what ever steels are offered in various sprint runs- multiple options on fern handle colors- and after market scales, etc. The delica offers a longer handle length. For 132$, less than 7$ more than the base chapareal, i can buy a delica in k390- it is a no brainer. Now the Chaparral does offer a marginally thinner blade in comparison to the Delica, so it is slightly more slicey, but not by much honestly. Now Blade hq does have a 48 hour special and the Chaparral can be purchased for 104$ which is a pretty good deal on the Chaparral. But if i had to choose one, i would select the Delica in k390. The real question is, why choose one? Buy both lol

I have two Taichung Spydercos, a Kapara and a Sage5. If I look at the spyder on the blades with a 10X magnifying glass you can see a spyder web-like design within the spyder. Eventually I will buy a Delica 4 to go with my 1990 Delica 1 which I think I paid $32 for back then. Nice review. The Chaparral is clearly a better value.

Great job. I have several Delicas, one Chaparral and so many other Spydercos that I have lost count. I am an avid collector of a lot of brands at this price point and slightly higher. I USE my knives and do not buy stupid expensive knives that just sit in a case. That said, my Chaparral is the upgraded carbon fiber scales model. I consider it, with its upgraded steel and higher end scales, to be a class above my Delicas. I carry it, and a rotation of my more expensive knives, on me when I dress up and go out to dinner etc. I rarely carry the Delicas because I think their overall appearance is rather plastic and kinda inexpensive LOOKING. That said, I keep the Delicas in places where I am likely to use them - in the car, in a hunting bag, in a daily pack that gets thrown in a suitcase for travel. For me, the Delicas are not for babying, and are really used hard. Not so much for my expensive Chaparral which is almost like man jewelry. For me, at a certain price point (around the price of the Delica, Endura, Dragonfly), I will use the hell out of the knife; once I get into the range of the Sage 5, carbon fiber Chaparral, Paramilitary 2, any Microtech, the high end Griptilllian etc., I tend to take a little better care of the blade. For me the Delicas and Enduras are more for tough use, and are much less painless to replace, than the knives one step up.

I agree with your opinions, I have the Chaparral and it is the sliciest knife ive owned. BUT the damn lock back is painful! If they gave it a compression lock option, it would be 6 stars, prob would even say it would be the greatest sub 3 inch blade ever manufactured.

The Chaparral also has bidirectional texturing.

I’m glad the Chap won. I think the clip was a great choice for the main deciding factor. You gotta add another $25+ to the Delica’s price for a deep carry clip.

Imo delica is just way better than the chap. If the chap didn't have a tough lockback with a thin lockback bar it would be perfect. The only edge that the chap has against the delica is how thin the blade is which is only by a hand full of thousands of an inch. If there's something you don't like about the delica there is many after market parts for it. Popular mods being a metal backspacer and deep carry clip. Plus more sprints from the delica. Got mine in s30v and I'm happy with that. Obviously it's going to cost more, but it's worth it for the better design and usability.

Does the standard chaparral with lining thicker than the lightweight chaparral?

Chap is nice cuz most spyderco knife handles are just too damn long. Look super goofy

I had to sell my chappy because the lock was brutal on the finger bones

I can actually middle finger flick open the chaparral with ease. Not as easily as the pm2 or pm3 but it's very much possible. The reason is I had already mastered flicking open the native 5 without fail so the chaparral was a breeze.

SHOULD'VE BEEN A GRAY DELICA;=)

2 position clip verses 4 position clip Hmmm.. not sure the choice here wasn't biased. One for the Delica 4. Delica is easier to sharpen.. Starting to wonder how unbiased is this head to head?

Chaparral is the better knife for me. Carry ability in Europe is very important.
@newhuskytwenty4 жыл бұрын
Unless you are British or French because then it is also illegal, no locking blade is legal to be carried.

Color choices -- the chaparral handle color choices aren't good. I'm sick of grey and black knives.

Do you also say "lock axis" and "lock compression"? I bet no. So "BACK LOCK"
