most important difference in blade: dragonfly 2.4mm vs 1.9mm on Chaparral. Chaparral has the thinnest blade of all spyderco folders.

I have all 3 of these and carry regularly. I am a huge Para 3 LW fan and own some cool sprints and mods. That being said, I finally got my Chap LW and it’s hard not to always carry this slicey little beast

Absolutely love my Dragonfly 2. It still amazes me how good it feels in hand considering it's a really small knife. Great review brother, cheers!

I had same issues with dragonfly, but I decided to get the K390 version just to have a K390 knife (it was on sale now for 85 bucks, good deal). So with the ergos, I decided to mod the little dragonfly to round off that point on top of the thumb ramp and give it a more natural resting point, as well as give it a tiny sharpening choil and rounding/chamfering some of the FRN around the choil and the back "tail" of the knife where your pinky sits in full grip. I really, really like the knife now, compared to before. I often "tinker" with knives like this to get that great ergo for my hands, and this knife is a really cool addition now for edc. Overall think I like the Chappy better, but this little K390 blade stays insanely sharp.

My top 2 knives. You really need both as one is the smallest must have and chaparral is a do it all in the city knife

Dragonfly 2 is the best 5th pocket knife I’ve ever had. The Chaparral is a bit bulky for that use. If I want a bigger knife, I carry a bigger one, but I still always have the D-fly in my 5th pocket…unless I’m going to the airport or courthouse.

Very interesting video to me. because chaparral is the most biggest folder to regally allowed to carry in my country - Korea(south). our law allowed us can carry folding knives that has "edge length less than 6cm(2.36")" not blade length. so chaparral and ambitious are treated same. now I have just got a dragonfly and consider to buy chaparral. thanks for your video.

Thank you for the review. Have the pink/s30v dragonfly as a work knife. Might consider getting the Chap at some point

I have the Stretch (same frn) and I like it. Light and functional. The grip is textured for positive pushing into clip and pulling out of pocket, I do find the vg10 a pia to sharpen and it doesn't hold an edge as long as s30v.

Dragonfly is very cool, but I think the Chap is a bit of a stand out bargain from Spyderco. The steel is considerably better, and as you can see, there isn't much difference in the carry footprint for a decently larger blade.

I own dozens of pocket knives. My FFG Delica 4 is the best slicer. It's the best cutter. It's also the ONLY knife I own that I can get to shaving sharp in 5 minutes or less. My other, way more expensive knives can NEVER take the edge that my D4 FFG takes. I have a small batch carbon fiber Ferrum Forge Stinger in Nitro V, and it simply DOES NOT cut as well as my 15 year old VG10 FFG Delica. Maybe the finish creates friction? I don't know. The only blade I own that even hopes to compete with that Delica is my Civivi Small Mastodon in D2, and even then, the initial bevel on the Delica is so much longer, and the secondary bevel is so much more precise, that the edge of the Mini Mastadon can't compete.
