Benchmade has made a name for themselves with the AXIS Lock, and the Presidio II with new CF-Elite handles is a prime example. Spyderco’s closely-related ball bearing lock on the Manix 2 is another paradigm for a very similar result, and both these knives are built for hard use without monopolizing your pocket space.

Manix 2 xl all day. I carry it in my waistband almost everyday as a backup/ self defense knife. I have a knifecenter manix 2 lightweight in carpenters tool steel XHP too.

I have the Presidio, the more neutral handle works better for me. Two nitpicks with the Benchmade; mine had substantial lock stick, and the tip of the blade has nicked my palm a couple times in flicking it closed. That said, the spyderco feels like a sock full of Legos to my hand, so it’s butterfly all day for me.

FreeState Fellow I agree, I have piles of both brands, and love the feel of the standard Manix 2, but the larger XL has all sorts of angles and edges that don’t agree with my palm, although the blade is excellent. I already gave the great M4 Freek though, which looks super close to this Presidio, so as nice as it looks will have to think about it, but hell its the same or less as some models of the bugout, so you can’t go wrong.

Just bought a Presidio 2 today with the aluminum grips. I really liked it more than the newer CF grips. It's just a touch heavier, which I prefer. A beast of a knife.

Manix 2XL 💯❤❗ It's been my EDC for 5yrs ! I wish they'd make it with the Emerson wave ! I love this knife ! There hasn't been one problem or issue with my Manix 2XL in the 5 yrs I've carried it. Flawless function & performance ! I'm thinking of getting the titanium upgrade & the carbon fiber scales.

Carried the presidio 2 for a year now, I m a welder, it's big enough to operate with gloves... after crying over the price I finally started using it... cpm steel are wortht the money in my book. Generally a 1095 guy.. but this stuff is where it's at!!

I love my precido 2. The xl looks nice too. But my precido is a work horse and my fav edc blade.

I like the new scales on the presidio. Over an ounce lighter but have less ‘bite’ with the handle edges. CF elite model is also $30 cheaper. Can’t say yet for sure but I suspect the new scales will show less wear than the aluminum. Great axis lock!

I am a big Spyderco fan,but blades take up too much pocket space. I like the overall look of the benchmade. I would love to get my hands on them both before any purchase.

The term beast gets tossed around perhaps too much but, the Manix 2 XL is an absolute beast of a knife. Wish they'd make a full Salt version with LC200N.

Spyderco might be the most ugliest knife brand around also limited application with that FFG blade. The open coil spring design is also one more thing to worry, dirt and debris will get in there if you really use your knifes and not just do reviews 😀

Between these 2 the aanix 2 is the better value at $40 less (i Canada). But, I think the Presidio 2 is more comparable to the PM2. Same price (in Canada)...what you get over the PM2 is---no recassa/nub to get in the way, Pres2 can be had with a DLC blade coating and partial serrations and the CF/G10 scales....and slightly more blade/cutting edge...odd the Presidio 2 seems to be overlooked....with every one focusing on the 930, Bugout, Griptilian and the Freek..

Manix 2xl. Through an mxg gear clip on it, and while there's still a bit sticking out, it's less obvious in the pocket than the standard clip.

I've owned the Manix 2XL since 2015,....still works flawlessly,...no intentions of ever parting ways with it!! Not a fan of Benchmade ...I've bought them and returned them within days of ownership. IMO. they feel cheap and flimsy as compared to all my Spiderco's. I also own the Para 3 FRN. light and the Dragonfly 4 with Emmerson blade ....love all my Spidie's!! Last Benchmade I purchased was the Hidden Canyon Hunter. I compared it to my ESEE Izula costing $75.00 as compared to the Csnyon Hunters $235.00 and I returned the Canyon Hunter!! That's the very last Benchmade EVER for me,....not a fan of them!!!

I differ in point of views. I have a lynch clip on mine. The spyderco will destroy a precidio in cutting precision. Plus, the finger guard , jimping make the spyder co a bit more solid. If I had to pick an all around package I'd go with the manix 2 xl. If you want a firget blade with a bit more aesthetics and a decent warranty go with the benchmade. But hands down the spyderco has a better grind out the box.

Did you actually try the Presidio? Agreed, for precise cutting Spyderco rules with it's finer grind and forward fingerchoil. But for those finer tasks I would still rather use a smaller blade🤔 As for solidity and security in hand you're just plain wrong. Take hold of a Presidio and you'll know. Also for EDC the Presidio seems like the better option to me, because it takes up way less pocketspace, it's less restrictive in the gripping area and doesn't take up as much pocketspace. Generally speaking my POV is that Spyderco knives are superior cutting tools. But Benchmade knives are better for casual use, fo EDC, and ultimately for self defense😑 And to top it off they're fun to fidget with😁

There is no such thing as centrifugal force. It is an imagined force from a non inertial frame of reference. The reason the blade swings like that when you close it is because of the centripetal force of the pivot on the blade. The term centrifugal should be abolished. There is never a time it is appropriate to use. Btw. The Manix 2 xl rocks! Bench made….no finger choils….no way.

nate k I hear a lot of people say they don’t like the looks of Spyderco knives..I personally love their designs and I love the spydie hole opening as well..I think the Manix 2,Spydie Chef,Para 2,Para 3,Autonomy 2,Tenacious,Endura,Delica,Smock and several others are all great designs...the Autonomy 2 is my personal favorite auto,it kinda sort of looks/feels like an automatic Manix 2
