Its very typical for any type of a call center that concerns any exchange of sensitive info (such as creditcards) to force the Reps to leave their phone before entering the floor. I used to work for T-Mobile Costumer Service and regular Reps are not allowed to bring a phone, Notes, or any sort of object that can record anything. Scam or not, it is the way it should be. I remember fighting for an Old woman who has been wrongly charged for half a year ( due to a store employee promising her a promotion that have expired the day before), I needed her Bank info so she can make payments for the time being and promised her about $2000 of reimbursement. I couldnt write down the card info since the note pads on every pc gets deleted every log out ( her bank keeps declining at the time so i had to write it down since i promised her that she would not have to call one more time) so i wrote it down on a piece of paper and hid it in my wallet. Fast forward a month after i have left, i forgot that i had her bank info on my wallet. if i somehow lost my wallet, who knows what kind of trouble that poor old lady couldve faced.

Or threatening that they're druglords and have information on you and will kill you if you don't pay. So they tried the kidnapping one with my grandma and she believed it was me who was kidnapped. I was standing ten feet away from her but dementia does that to people. Thankfully I took the phone away from her but she was nervous about me going out for weeks after that (though she could not remember why). I hope hell exists and scammers can burn in it.

cleaver I feel bad for them to, my grandmother almost fell for one. It was a link that was going to take her IP, not a scam but it is still not a good thing to click.

My grandpa fell for one. He paid 50,000 dollars to it. The scammer said my uncle went to jail and need a bail. They paid and the scammer said it would take about a week for my uncle to return home. The next day my uncle went to fix a light bulb and my grandpa said “How’d you get home so fast”. That is all.

It would be funny to add a warning message to THEIR computer saying: The police have been notified. We're coming for you.

Not really, that’d be great but cops there are so corrupt, and they get paid off by the bosses to not do fuck all about it, and they don’t anyway unless like interpol/fbi/major news network gets involved
