Personally I've loved the longer videos and that you go into so much depth about the old games, but I can see why some people find it too much when they're just coming to hear a review of sorts on the new games.

I agree as well that the longer videos are something that I enjoy. Sorta like a podcast I can run and listen to while cooking or playing some games (etc). I can see where the other side is coming from as well, but all of that old-game context is important, not to mention that if they want a quick review, this is definitely not the channel. This is a deep analysis, not a soundbyte IGN review.

Your series on this was really great and put into perspective a lot if the aspects I love about the Spyro series. In the end I think TOB did very well in doing their own take on the originals. I hope they'll be allowed to continue work on Spyro, since Crash 4 is looking good. Hope for the best for these two series.

Man, your videos always blow me away with how much effort and attention and care you put into them. It's so refreshing to see somebody pay so much attention to so many minute details, and it makes it a delight whenever I see you've uploaded a new video. Keep doing what you're doing, you're doing a great job at it. But definitely take a break whenever you need it, you put so much into these that you shouldn't be driving yourself insane just trying to finish them.

I wanna take this time to thank you for your work. I don't have experience with making KZbin videos myself, but I can tell that uploading 3 movie length reviews while leaving no stone unturned took a lot of time and dedication on your end. If I have to wait a little longer for your next ROR, then I'm perfectly fine with it because your Spyro reviews were a treat.

I will say that even though I never commented about it, I did find there was somewhat too much of a focus on the original games. I do appreciate how in depth you go into all aspects of the games, both of the original and remade versions, though I do think there is a more efficient way to go about it. What you proposed, splitting up the videos, is a good idea. It cuts down on the length (not necessarily an issue for me) and also communicates to the viewer what they will be getting, which eliminates some potential disappointment of viewers not getting what they expected. Plus, this makes it easier for you to edit, which I know is a long and arduous process. Keep up the great work! I'd be interested to hear more on your opinions on the modern games you've played. I know you make casual comments about them in your videos, but having dedicated videos on the subject, even if they were shorter, would be great to see.

Hey if it lightens the load for you Exo do whatever you need to. If anything 2 40-50 minute videos is easier to digest than one 2 hour video. It’s clear you won’t sacrifice quality by doing so, from what I can tell you’re doing this for free which in itself is very admirable. Thanks for always delivering Exo, I can’t wait for Metroid ROR!

I dunno if this comment is gonna get lost in the ether but I just wanna say that the whole series you did on Spyro was fantastic. I only started watching your videos from the Spyro series, but the sheer depth and attention to quality and detail made me want to check out some of the other reviews, even for games I've never played. I care a lot about quality, so seeing someone go through the effort you did just did get the video upscaled properly, and even grabbing the 4K texture packs on PC, really puts you a cut above the rest right off the bat. But you don't just stop there, no. Where most people would just compare the looks and the controls of the games, you took it a step further and talked about various glitches and stuff. As someone in the Crash/Spyro speedrunning community, I tend to open up these videos and expect something kinda surface-level, with a lot of the finer points glossed over. When you started talking about Gulp Skip (and even showed footage of you trying to do it!) I was impressed because it showed that you really did your research, and that's exactly what I found so endearing about the whole series. So often you would come up to a hub world/level and I would think to myself "man, I wonder if they'll mention x thing that most reviewers don't even know about," and without skipping a beat you'd be right on it. I could go on for ages about this but in general these have been, in my eyes, the most definitive reviews on the 3 games. All in all, I personally love these long-form videos. I get that they take a long time to script/edit/render/upload so I don't blame you for wanting to cut them down at all, but just wanna toss it out there that I'm definitely part of the subset of people that really liked the way you handled this whole series. I hope one day you'll consider following up with a ROR on the N. Sane Trilogy or Nitro Fueled. Though I know you said you weren't as into Crash, I'd still love to see you pick those games apart. Best of luck with the future episodes.

Sorry to hear you had such a rough time producing the Spyro ROR videos. I've been watching your videos for years now and I really felt the love and effort you put into these 3 last videos in particular, so I definitely did not notice the issues you mentioned, which looks good on your editing skills by the way. Very excited about Metroid, and honestly any other project you want to do in the future. I feel you put tons of effort into the content you put out, so I'll definitely be watching those - love the ROR videos specifically, as I'm sure other subscribers do. I loved your Spyro reviews Spyro 3 was my childhood it took me years to beat because it was so hard It honestly lit a bit of light in my heart as a child I worry about the fact that kids today don't have cartoon mascott characters as good as Spyro, Slycooper, or Banjoo these days and Ratchet and Clank on PS5 looks amazing but just the fact that he has guns makes it a for a little older kids than what Spyro was for me. Understandable that you felt you needed to address the final thoughts carefully, but I think in the end when you said you still enjoyed going back to the games, that truly hit the nail on the head. Criticisms or compliments aside, you had fun with Spyro Reignited. That was the only question I went in with and I got that answer in spades. Great work Exo. Also, looking forward to seeing the Metroid RORs. I personally didn't mind the original discussions in the same video, but I can see why people would prefer it that way.

While I'm disappointed to learn we won't get to see your scripted video wrap up of your Spyro review, I do respect your decision to scrap it. Thanks for the journey! My thoughts on the format: - I love that you took the time to review the originals along with the remake, personally that's what I want to see! But I can imagine some people might want to focus on the just remake, and sifting through a 2-hour video would make that difficult. I like your idea of trying to split it into separate videos, but I hope you don't abandon the in-depth reviews of the originals. - I enjoy hearing YOUR personal childhood experience with the games, I get some second-hand nostalgia from it. You occasionally go into it briefly, and it may be that you already have a good balance of it sprinkled in, but I just want to say that I wouldn't mind if you did that a little more often 😁 Looking forward to more of your content, man!

well i really like that you take your time to review the original source material of the remake. It is more complite and help to understand why the remake is superior or not. I also liked that the videos are segmented in sections so i can watch the story part and then see another part later,so it helps a lot with the length. Over all i like your videos and i hope it doesnt tax your sanity becouse i understand that this things are really hard and time consuming to make.

I really appreciated the videos, even though I had slightly different takes on the games. Of course, I wasn't there to confirm my own bias, I was there to learn a new perspective and have a better understanding of game design. I can appreciate the difficulties you had with editing, too. My one and only video I've done in a similar analytical fashion was about a JRPG, and it was about 4 hours long. It was a nightmare to script and edit, and I had to complete the entire game a second time when I realized how many things I forgot to capture. Took a week straight to upload, and when I noticed an issue after uploading, I just gave up on trying to fix it. Definitely burned me out and I feel your pain. All that said, I don't see a huge need to separate videos into two parts. It might make the whole thing more digestible, but I personally enjoy longer videos that aren't arbitrarily split up. Plus, ROR isn't a regular review of a new product, it aspires to do more. As you put it, you are trying to compare and contrast these different versions of the game, and I think the time spent is more than justified on most occasions, so long as you don't get hung up on specific things (I think you spent a little too long trying to dismantle the story of Spyro 2 for instance, but I'm guilty of doing similar things, so I understand). Still, you don't have much to lose by testing out a new format, so by all means, let's see where it goes! Looking forward to future content. Keep up the good work, my man.

At least Crash 4 looks great, but I absolutely agree. People complain that TLoS and Spyro in Skylanders were only cash grabs but Reignited was a cash grab too. The quality is irrelevant (I actually think all three are good) and the point is that the publishers tried to create them at topical times, with the goal of drawing the interest of old fans through brand name. And all of them had effort put in by the developers, so it isn't about that either. Activision aren't suddenly good guys for bringing back old IPs, they still treat these IPs like crap (rushing games, in the case of CTR stuffing in mtx, let's see what's next). But remember #IWillSupportSpyro ? I did see many people thanking Activision and complaining about how some older games that still had effort in them were "only cash grabs", as if remakes these days aren't... when it's a remake and bringing back some old IP, people suddenly act like it isn't there due to brand recognition and marketability, and also are willing to defend tons of crap they roast in other games. I understand that people want old Spyro and Crash back, but they're kind of toxic about any other reboots or stuff. I absolutely hate the culture and, I'll say it, fanboyism around these kinds of remakes, but I'm getting off-track now. I kind of just think these IPs are doomed and I'll just hope for the best out of them before they die again. Honestly, I was already satisfied with CTR, so I guess I'm set. Then Activision will probably reboot or remake Skylanders and some of the old Skylander fans will be celebrating that probably in the same way. Maybe by the time that happens people will learn to be more critical of these things and less fanboyish, but I doubt it. Hooo boy this thing really does get my blood boiling I should walk away.

I think splitting up ROR into 2 parts is a very smart move and I'm sure making content that way will be much easier on you. I also can't wait to see the Metroid ROR! As a Metroid fan playing the original release for the first time definitely felt outdated and a bit more unforgiving compared to later entries. Although I was still so emersed exploring Zebes and I'm glad as a fan that I finally played the game that started it all. I actually haven't played Zero Mission yet so I'm definitely curious to see everything that got changed in it

I totally understand not wanting to discuss about the issue with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy not having Spyro 2, and 3 on the physical copies, but only on PC, and digital versions, when the game originally launched, Exo, as that has already been talked about many before. I think it's great that you're actually willing do Remake Or Rebreak as separate videos where you talk about the vanilla game in a 1 video, and then the ROR video afterward so they won't be so ridiculously long as your recent video of Spyro 3 ROR video showed, although, I've never much minded their length as I still enjoyed them, plus, it means you get to talk about certain things more thoroughly in detail. However, with them being separate it would mean that you'll have an easier time editing, and it'll be a lot less stressful too so, we'll see it works out! I'm glad that you're also excited for Crash Bandicoot 4 as I am despite you never being much of a Crash fan! I look forward to your new Remake Or Rebreak episode about Metroid (1986), and its Game Boy Advance remake, Metroid: Zero Mission! Take care!

I think the videos came out really well! Though, do what you want! Don't feel you have to start splitting up videos because you're worried people don't like to hear you talking about the originals. (Though, ultimately, if you feel that's best, best of luck to you with it!) I think you should try focusing on how to ease how taxing it is on your end though if it starts to feel like a nightmare, though I'm not entirely sure how. Regardless, looking forward to your future videos! It's fun hearing you ramble on about these games you love and going into detail about how they've changed throughout the years.

The biggest reason why games get rushed is because executives (who are generally the ones in charge of setting deadlines, if you don't know) often underestimate how long it will take to make the kind of game they're looking for. This isn't inherently evil -- in fact, it's a common mistake! (Even seasoned game devs can do it!) The problem is when the executives refuse to budge on deadlines for any reason whatsoever (be it a "non-negotiable contract" (if there even is such a thing), an anniversary deadline, etc), forcing the developers to crunch and causing various development phases (especially testing) to be shortened, rushed, or skipped outright. Similarly, developers, writers, and other people who work on the game can lose interest in a project altogether, and thus will put less effort into it if they're forced to continue working on it anyway. (I don't know the size of Toys for Bob so I can't comment on whether they'd be able to keep rotating the less passionate staff out for more passionate ones, thereby reducing or even avoiding the problem.) And productions take time and effort to really get right, especially games, so less effort put in leads to awkward controls, annoying glitches, and continuity errors. (I imagine that a lot of the gameplay in the Reignited Trilogy versions is still heavily scripted compared to the originals, which is why the programmers used frame-based programming.)

You are a cool guy, admitting to the length of your videos and how people would rather skip to the parts that talk about the remake/reissue itself. Splitting them into pieces is excellent, but I didn't mind whence you did your previous ones. The timestamps also help to be a decent bookmark, so if they stop watching the video and go to come back, they can jump to that. I'll most likely not watch the _Metroid Prime_ stuff, considering I'm not a _Metroid_ fan, but I hope they have the same effort. I especially suggest you give more updates on your KZbin channel because not everyone is going to use Twitter to find updates. My comment is too long, but I just like explaining things a lot. 2 games I would love to see covered on Xross Platform in the future are: -Battletoads (NES, Genesis, Amiga, GB Demake, Original GB game of the same name, Game Gear) -Battletoads and Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team (NES, GB, SNES, Genesis) I understand if you don't have the time or just don't want to cover these games due to their design, but it would be really cool to hear your opinion on these games.

I think splitting up ROR videos makes alot of sense. Yes; I like them no matter the length, and I really appreciate the effort and detail you put into them and how in-depth you can be. But I can see the long video lengths affecting release schedules as they take so much time to edit, render and upload and mistakes become a chore to correct PLUS big videos might make some people not watch despite having timestamps available for each segment. By splitting up ROR reviews into parts; you can focus on 1 half of the whole review, editing and rendering becomes quicker and easier, uploading would also be quicker as the video is smaller, it's more appealing for people to click on, and it allows people to choose which version of the game (and of the review) people want to watch (not to mention double the views if people like me would watch both parts, but that's an after-effect). You've been dropping hints that Metroid & Metroid Zero Mission is your next project on Twitter, and considering you've already done Metroid 2 & AM2R, doing Metroid 2 VS Metroid Samus Returns makes sense as well! (since both AM2R & Metroid Samus Returns are different remakes of Metroid 2, I wouldn't expect you to compare the remakes against each other)

The videos were excellent, I loved the length but I like longform content. I say don't change anything about the formula you do great work. That being said if you personally need to make them shorter I get it. If you are worried about not putting up content as quickly you could always do more Zbros play... Just throwing that out there.

I prefer hearing about the game not the remake. As a gamer as a kid I more then likely have not played the newer remakes so I like the nostalgia of hearing out the original game.

Hey, Exo! I really enjoyed your ROR reviews for the _Spyro the Dragon_ trilogy, and I’m looking forward to your ROR reviews of _Metroid_ / _Metroid: Zero Mission_ ! 😊 I’m fine with you breaking up future ROR reviews into parts, with the original and the remake covered separately. If you consider that an easier way of tackling future subjects of ROR, then that’s fine by me. One more thing: what would you say to a remake of _Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak_ ? Moreover, if such a remake did come about, would you review it and the original for ROR?

As much as I like the original ROR format, I think splitting future RORs into separate parts is an interesting idea. Especially if it makes the quality better overall.

Anyway to know how to check if a disk on PS4 is a reissue? I have the original disk, but maybe its worth grabbing a new one just to have all the fixes on disk.

I can tell that you worked hard, man! You really ARE dedicated to your craft that we love. However, this presents a BIT of a conundrum. For the game that’s being talked about, why not highlight it in the thumbnail (like for example, if you are covering Metroid 1 in your ROR, make it glow, while Zero Mission is in the backdrop-just a little darker but not too much; and vise-versa when reviewing Metroid Zero Mission)? It would help to showcase what game you’re talking about in the segment (like perhaps add in like a Side A; Side B gimmick ala the Famicom Disk System. It’d help you experiment on the video format like Side A is the original, while Side B covers the Remake. Just some ideas.
