I was one of the 114 passengers on board of SQ117. This happened almost 30 years ago, and I can still hear the bullets flying in the cabin. Of course, there are a few details missing in this 20- minutes replay of an ordeal that lasted for 10 hours. But it is for the most part quite accurate. My congratulations to the students of the Temasek Polytechnic School of Design. But my lasting gratitude goes to the brave men of the SOF who freed the hostages, passengers and crew. This was an incredible rescue operation, well prepared, perfectly executed, with no casualties among the hostages. THANK YOU AGAIN.

From what I know when I in the Army (90s), it actually the newly formed Unit called the Special Operation Force (SOF) which was not known to the public (world) who are the real guys behind the mask. Media just reported as commandos for easy cross reference. In fact, our SOF (Regulars only) are the top tier elites. 2 tier are the Commandos (NSF & Regulars) and Navy Diver Unit (NSF & Regulars). 3 tier are our Guards Units.

Very well done. Even the clothes/costumes of the actors playing the passengers are period specific to the early 1990s. Even the computer speakers used are true to the period. 𝐷𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑖. That is a name I have not heard of for a very long time. It is not as tame as shown here but a very highly violent action with charges to blow the doors and stun grenades being used. Sahid received 5 shots the chest and he refused to go down so the Commandos put another 2 to his head.

Why didn't they do it in their free time and get those magazines ready instead of having spend precious time loading their magazines. Don't they have enough of full magazines on standby at all times ? Or does this happen only in movie filming or it also happens in real life situation ?

Some minor discrepancies, given that the plane involved is an A310: 4:16 That's a Boeing Signature cabin, which hadn't existed yet in 1991 (& is found on the B767/B777, which was launched 4 years after the incident). 4:29 That's a B737 overhead panel. 4:42 Those are Boeing thrust levers; Airbus' ones are black instead. Given that the production team may have faced difficulty accessing some props, I guess the discrepancy that's probably easier to address though is at 4:21; a 45-min flight is unlikely to be long enough to be able to reach FL350 (35,000' cruising altitude); SIN-KUL flights (like SQ117) usually cruise at 20,000' instead I remember

I doubt it. The hijackers could have set the plane on fire especially since they had poured flammable alcohol on the plane's floor. They could have done it in a short time and that would have blown everyone up if the fire reached the fuel tanks. But the SOF were so well trained that they managed to shoot down all the hijackers within just 30 seconds. Look at other reports of this incident and you'll see that all the hijackers were finished off in 30 seconds. So the hijackers had no time to set the plane on fire and even if they had guns they would have had no time to aim properly and shoot down the soldiers. If Singapore wishes to, its military can kill with great efficiency and speed. Foreigners who think they can push Singapore around just because it's a small country should take very careful note of that.

Or maybe I've overreacted, as you're merely trying to state that Singapore, too, as a nation has what it takes to adopt an impressive special forces unit.
