This album is different. The sound itself is worth a million dollars man. Take a listen all the way from room for squares to battle studies. Every album is different and good in it's own light. This album is organic whether you like it or not. I'd accept it if a lot of people might say that this album is 'unpolished'. But, have you ever heard this record over a good pair of speakers? It's amazing I tell you.

I recently broke up with my girlfriend because our long-distance relationship was too much for both of us. We both love John Mayer and given the circumstances this song makes me feel super nostalgic. It makes me think of the good time we had listening to his music together, as well as the fact that we haven't talked in a while, and it seems now that instead of being friends, we're now more of nothing. Needless to say, this song makes me feel so unbelievably melancholy.
@loduke39055 жыл бұрын
Feel ya man. It's funny how months later it changes to a different feeling as time goes by. I'm sure you can probably attest to that (it says its it's been 4 months since you posted that so I can only assume).Crazy to think as my relationship was very tricky, she was my best friend since I was 15 years old and we were in a relationship together for almost 10 years. Things were good but I wasn't complete.. I felt like I needed to go my own way after a few things happened that made me question the longevity/sincerity and trust of tomorrow. Point is (I'm getting there, I promise) this song sums it up beautifully. At the end of the day, we go through all the motions of those 4 words and 3 very different things/feelings etc.

i saw him play the night before this at a myspace secret show at the music hall of williamsburg (about 300-500 people capacity) and he was on FIRE and played for about 2 1/2 hours, giving it his all. i think he was probably a little fatigued vocally from that show, understandably. Anyway, he still sounds about 20x better than most live pop vocalists. and as always, his playing is unbelievable.

If you listen closely to his singing on albums, John Mayer quite often sings certain notes a little sharp or a little flat (on purpose I'm sure) and to me it adds dimension to the song...basically, he pulls it of. I don't think anything different is going on here and he sounds great!
@OllieDunn06 Жыл бұрын

@AloJou @Haraunite It's arguably both- In 1961 the Les Paul was redesigned- that's what this guitar is. Les Paul didn't like the new shape, so asked for his name to be dropped, so it was renamed "SG", but the first few were sold as Les Pauls, even tho they're what we now see as the SG shape. Mayer's guitar is one of those '61 models
@riversisblue14 жыл бұрын
@JohnMayerFan98 It is actually a 1961 Les Paul. Look closely at the truss rod cover on the headstock. In 1961 Gibson stopped making the original Les Pauls in favor of the new model. However, 1963 they re-introduced the "New Les Paul" as the "S.G." (Solid Guitar)

@nthsieh928: I seriously beg to differ with your opinion on the album. I'd admit that it's difficult to write an entire album based on the theme of love itself and YES, some of the lyrics are very repetitive. But hey, that's the ABCs of pop music songwriting and it works without fail. Maybe you're disappointed that John didn't do a Continuum Part II. Perhaps I was too when I initially heard the album but then again, this album grows on you. ..........

@bibbler227 nono in 1961 the gibson Les paul SG was produced without les paul's consent, and hje hated the design and asked for his name to be removed from the guitar the same year, although the truss rod covers still had the Les Paul name until 63' and that marked the end of Les Paul's involvement with the company. so it's still an SG, but its a Les Paul SG.
