What angers me is how they use people’s indeity, preference, gndr, and sexual attraction as a mascot to promote games. Like go ahead add them, no one cares. Hogwarts had it did anyone complain? Final Fantasy 16 had it did anyone complain? It’s only when you promote the game based on that alone. It’s only when you’re disingenuous about it. It’s only when you hire people based on their identity. You know how many people I’ve seen promoted to senior positions in these studios that have no experience? This is how you get such terrible games. It’s like you said they think we’re living 30 years ago. They have gone so overboard with their inclusion that now people immediately write something off when they see diversity. They actually hurt the community more than they help. These companies have done nothing but hurt the community.

THANK YOU! That's what I've been saying, the "US VS THEM" mentality is ruining everything. Little Goody Two Shoes comes from fans of the "horror RPG Maker" games trend that existed earlier on youtube (like Ib and Witch's House. It is a prequel to an RPG Maker game called POCKET MIRROR to boot), it took 7 years in development and the small studio was pretty much on its own. Every bit of the UI has passion, all Square did was give them a platform to sell the product on and fund them, but they mostly had nothing to do with the work the devs had. Their small team worked hard making musical numbers accompanied by cute videos in various art styles. (The chibis, the 80s, the real life dolls). I can say at least that it's not a "slop" somebody put together... and I hate to see it being dragged in the mud like this. In the early years of development, Astralshift never even mentioned the flags or pride, it was something that happened later on. They were just a little indie dev that liked stuff like Madoka. In old times a dev even said "Little Goodie Two Shoes is for *everyone*," and went on to how we all have a witch inside of us that we hide from the public. I can testify the game itself is good even if the vision has been long lost by everyone else.
@TheDezembro3 ай бұрын

AstralShift's response make it look like they approached Squeenix to promote it as Alphabetic, rather than Squeenix needing to meet their DEI quota. Little Goody Two Shoes came out November 7th 2023. That's right, last year. And Squeenix did nothing to promote it. All marketing material were done by AstralShift themselves. This situation really is them ending it themselves.
@TheDezembro3 ай бұрын
If that's the case that makes this situation even more laughable, as AstralShift is far too small to just be that stupidly abrasive in their marketing. Still, hard to believe they'd have as much power as to be able to push SE into hosting a Pride event in October 😂
@TheRibbonRed3 ай бұрын
@@TheDezembro I wouldn't say they "have power". More like Squeenix is looking for something DEI to promote, and AstralShift offered themselves on a silver platter. Square-Enix doing pandering is nothing news. What disheartening is that the dev decides it is a good idea to attack regular audience with buzzwords. Goodies Two Shoes is a nice game and is already released for over a year so it sales figure is more than less settled. Also, it is an offline and multi-platform game, so it doesn't need high concurrent players so steam chart is meaningless. So even if the dev decides to mask off now, it doesn't really affect the game. However, this behavior may not pose well to their future games cuz their name has been tainted.

19:49 YESSS!! Thank you, FFXVI is a perfect example of this. Spoilers ahead: Dion is the best way to handle a gay (or Bi, doesn’t matter) character in a compelling way. His Sexuality does not define him, but his sense of duty, honor, and nobility. And while we do see his relationship with Terence in a Handful of scenes, those scenes work because not only do they play into his story, but it’s not unnecessarily explicit to get the point across about their relationship. And Dion and Terence’s relationship is wonderful and tragic, because you can feel that they genuinely love each other, but have to separate; rather than it being Superficial and obnoxious. And that last point is key, because honestly, you could replace Terence with a female character and make Dion Straight, and you would still get the same compelling story for Dion; albeit less interesting in this instance. I don’t mind it either way, because it still gave us Dion’s compelling character arc in the game.

But it is very very nice to see more and more people feeling comfortable with voicing this. There has definitely been a significant loss of "power over the narrative" that the other side has had for so long. And a significant loss of power when it comes to cancelling people who say things they don't like it.

As a personal example, I have yet to buy Space Marine 2. Why? Because Games Workshop is full of cancer. Female custodes. Female space marines. The "you will not be missed" letter, and so on. Despite the insanely good reviews (and recommendations from friends) I am wary of pulling the trigger on a game that is from a company that ultimately hates me, hates what I like, hates itself, hates its own lore and the things it has created, and wants bad things to sweep it all away. While getting paid for the whole job lot. That's how much catering and pandering to things and people that insult your customers and hate your creations can affect someone. It took me almost two years to go back to Cyberpunk and play the expansion. These people who do this to their own brands and their own companies are in need of serious mental help.
@TheDezembro3 ай бұрын
The game itself doesn't have any of that nonsense but I understand where you're coming from and you're well within your right to buy whatever you want to buy. Personally, I think that it's fine because this way you can show their investors and higher ups what it is that people actually want. If the show is caked with DEI and Intersectional feminism, and it fails -- but the game is NOT, and it succeeds, it may send the right message. But as usual, these people will twist and mangle any words and concepts that they need to bullsh*t themselves and anyone listening to them... So, if they want to simply claim that the show/movie failed and the game succeeded because of it being a game-related franchise, and that it has nothing to do with the ideological bullsh*t, then they will. So yeah like I said, I understand your point.

Spot on. Write good characters that are LGBT and put them in a great story and you'll get happy customers paying you money for your games AND you'll do some good for acceptance of those kind of minority groups. But that takes effort, so... Case in point, just a few short introductory scenes of Nao from Skip and Loafer anime probably did more for trans acceptance than any of those consultancy clowns will achieve in their entire lives. Few short scenes were enough to show the strength of her character, as well as some of the struggles she faces as a trans woman. She's a wholesome character and if we ever get a second season of that show, I'd love to see more of her. That's good character writing. Makes people want to see that character more. That how you do representation. More of that please. And about this latest kerfuffle, I can't even... So unnecessary. All it did was made me question if I made a mistake buying that game and making me wary of any of their future games. I haven't finished Goody Two Shoes yet, but I enjoyed it so far. It's a cutesy horror adventure where you can romance with some other girls. It's fun. Definitely not one of those lazy slops chasing brownie points (unless there's something later in the game that I don't know about yet). At least they didn't completely fly off the handle, seemed like your regular "playing the victim" shtick. Maybe in the past that worked as a marketing strategy, but I can't see it doing anything good nowadays. Lame.

Hell most dont even know im gay and are shocked when they find out. Once they do they appreciate how i go about things, and i change how they view gay people as most just assume they are the woke gays..because of all these political things im forced into a bubble by everyone as soon as they here the word gay. And im just not that. I want to be left alone i want to be treated normal, idk why the community lost that plot. That was the whole point and reason why it began...to be seen as normal...we are going backwards and its ruining it for gay people that just want to be left alone and be seen as just human. Long rant over i just wish more people said what you have said in this video more often, because its what needs to be said.. i just wish the comunity saw it that way. For my sanity and everyone else. Hey thanks for watching, I appreciate the comment! I've known & befriended a lot of "LGBT" people over the years due to being very involved in the Life is Strange community back when it was new. The vast majority of people I met were perfectly normal and it always made me upset when they were mistreated based off of wrong assumptions. Now, with the rise of this recent madness, those assumptions are becoming even worse and spreading to actual radical/extremist ideals because of what certain activists, politicias, etc, attach the "LGBT" to - as a sword and shield - without a single ounce of concern for the damage they're doing. And without asking permission lol It's f*cked up, there's no other word for it and I genuinely feel for you & others because I imagine that for years, "LGBT" was this thing some people like yourself freely associated with because of it being about acceptance and support - a haven, perhaps - and then suddenly things start to get crazy. Progress made for normality and acceptance starts to be backtracked because of unhinged ideals being attached to the group, and even if you want to DETACH yourself from the group, you can't because it's literally in the name. 😐 ugh so much damage. I talk about ^ this a little bit in the video I'm hopefully finishing editing and uploading tomorrow about de-feminization of characters in Gaming. I appreciate the comment. My videos can attract people who aren't very friendly at all to LGBT people but if I can at least try and make SOME of them think twice about the fact that soooo many gay/bi/lesbian/trans people are just normal MFs who don't even agree with any of this nonsense and just want to live normal quiet lives like everyone else, then I'll be content.

Speaking as someone who is deeply involved with LGBTQ-communities, I fully agree that I too would like nothing more than for us to be normalized. By which I mean diverse characters should just be allowed to be in media without it having to be noteworthy at all. I am pretty sick of our identities being used as selling points or even worse, shields against criticism. I love me a good queer story or character, but "good" is the important part of that sentence. Bad representation or forced inclusion isn't doing anyone any favors. It just leads to bad stories that neither side of the "conflict" are going to enjoy. I do want diverse and colourful stories, but I want that diversity to come from a genuine sense of acceptance and normalcy and the desire to write an interesting story rather than obligation or marketing reasons. On the other end of the spectrum, I don't want to let the small but vocal minority of people who decry any kind of inclusivity as "destroying our society" of the hook either though. The kind of people who believe that things like "female protagonist" or "choice of pronouns" are automatically a death sentence for a game. Sometimes these things are done for virtue signalling, which is a pretty bad reason to include them that I don't agree with either. Sometimes there's a good reason for why a writer made that choice. Sometimes they're there because it simply didn't matter much either way. I feel like the small amount of people throwing hossy fits over ultimately really harmless things like that are potentially just as damaging to our wider media landscape. Ultimately, I really wish none of this had to be such a ploiticised issue. Sometimes writers just want to do their own thing without being forced to walk on eggshells because someone seemingly always feels the need to be offended...
