Excelente work, Christian. I´ve studied Alias in the past and loved the continuity and class A tools but never bought it because of the pricing and because my main field is Architecture. Now, because of Plasticity and your videos, I´m about to jump in and buy Plasticity to model cars and other design stuff. Keep up the great work!

This is the way then. I graduated and studied Industrial Design, specifically in Automotive Design from AAU. I was never able to this day to land an opportunity as a 3d modeler. Years have gone by and ALIAS is just financially unobtainable for me. I've recently been learning Blender to try and update my portfolio but its just not the same for me, efficiency wise. From being pretty proficient with ALIAS back then. Ill have to buy this asap.

Coming from Alias you might be more efficient in, say, Fusion or even Shapr3D. This is marketed towards game artists, so a lot of advanced functionality will be missing, like the timeline history is absent. For your use case, I am not sure this is the right tool. Mind you, in the right hands there's absolutely nothing slow about CAD modeling and the surfacing will always be superior.

How do you even graduate if you can't use any design softwares to actually design? Every design Bachelor ive looked into has had multiple classes for different programms. Thats like graduating as a lawyer and never having read the laws

never realised plasticity could be this good for car modeling, you're awesome, I need to try this

As always... Great work! While I realize Alias is more full featured for automotive design (CAS) tool, Plasticity provides a cost effective solution for getting into this form of niche modeling. Thanks for sharing this content. I'm truly inspired!

@pavelgrozin2029 I'm a normal 3d Artist, without real cad or surface design background. I learned surfacing only I watch alias videos on KZbin.

@@Kuechmeister unbelievable!! how do you know about a-class surface and other cad-surface thinking then? when i try to make some cad splines in plasticity to make a car i can't achieve the same result) it's difficult to refocus from the poligons to cad-splines modeling! anyway you're greate! i whish you goodluck on this path!
@KuechmeisterАй бұрын
@pavelgrozin2029 I think this is not really something what pro user would call real class A, but I try to push the workflow in this direction. I have modeled years in Moi3d, but haven't "learned" in a real sense. In Germany we say you have only learned it, when you professional learned it in a company.

Hey, I work with Alias commercially in the CAS Space. I was wondering, is there any "history" or parametric functionality in Plasticity ? Basically going back into a loft for example and changing settings. Kind regards, Cornelius
@KuechmeisterАй бұрын
@Strichmaennl No, Plasticity is not to pro tool for car modelling, you can not compare Plasticity and Alias, I only show the possibilitys. Plasticitys tools are very smart but you don't have all those helpers and history's or G3 like Alias.
@KuechmeisterАй бұрын
@@Strichmaennl I try to push it in a Class A direction, but I it isn't really class A now.

Does plasticity have any surface analysis beyond eyeballing things?
@KuechmeisterАй бұрын
@AephVeyniker Yes, but the stripes are very small, you must scale it factor twenty. Because this feature is very beta, I think in the next coming update it could be better.

from your perspective: Is xNurbs the best approach to model a car body in Plasticity? Or would it be more "correct" to model without xNurbs?
@KuechmeisterАй бұрын
@SDX9000 Hard to say, I have modeled a Audi and the beginning of a Mercedes Benz(finaled with xNurbs) with Loft and Plasticitys default parasolid patch function, with help of my experience over 12 years of Moi3d modelling. I think for the most beginners it would be impossible to model a car with it, because there are many rules and limitations for clean lofts(how to handle broken splines, or splitted splines... xNurbs is a smarter and faster version of Parasolid patches. When your surface input is clean xNurbs is the best. Parasolid patches often fail in G2 transition cases while with xNurbs default easy possible. XNurbs also replace guided lofts when you have only 2 rails and 2 guides, also a simple quad patch. When you need more control splines(guides) or a blend with tension lofts are the only way. xNurbs can use control splines too, but mostly in Nsides cases and only good for form finding and define later with square or quaded xNurbs. I can say better learn, standard lofts and patch first to note the limitations. Then you know what you need.
@SDX9000Ай бұрын
@@Kuechmeister thanks, so it sounds that it is worth getting xNurbs even if you are a master of lofts and patches (only xNurbs is not available on Linux).
