Is it camping, or overlanding? There are some strong opinions out there. I grew up camping, but don’t really care what you call it. What’s important is getting outdoors and going on an adventure with friends.

As a Land Cruiser guy, you are on the right track for all the right reasons. Once you use the RT tent a couple years, you will find camp parking limited, and wind sucks. Then there is that 3:00 AM beer release. Great for a perfect summer night by the river especially or have lonely snakes. But... ITS A LONG BED! ...

One thing I've learned is that "Overlanders" carry too much crap. I pack my SUV similar to how I'd rig a raft for a multi-day river trip. Rig to flip 🙃

Hello there, I am a proud member from team camping, nice to meet you 😅 I don't care what you want to call it, whatever gets mud on the tires and fresh crisp wilderness air in my lungs sounds like a helluva good time 🍻 Awesome trip, thanks for the motivation to keep putting my truck back together!

You know, there’s a BDR in west Texas that we might need to run. My truck will be ready this time next year. #TeamCamping

What a fun trip! On another note, I’ve rarely seen a square body without a broken windshield.

You’re so right. Mine is super cracked from hard flexing before the sub frame build. Pay to play I guess.

That is an awesome set up. I watched your engine build since I recently bought a 98 k2500 Silverado. I'd love to set the truck up for overlanding eventually
@WillometMotorFabАй бұрын
That’s a good truck. I’d say just start going places and camping. Add pieces as you go, and I recommend starting with the kitchen, because full on meals out in the woods are a special delight.

David: Love the squarebody content. My adventure and time machine is my father's '78 K5 Blazer he bought new at Nehls Chevrolet in Marshall, TX. I'm worthy keeper of the Blazer now and I concoct crackhead adventures with my friends and family across the western states. Got one planned in June through the 4-corners area. We're running in the '78 and a '90 Suburban this time around. If it works out, we'd love to drop by on the way out of Texas and say hello. We're just down the way in Longview. The next adventure after that takes us to the Arctic Ocean. - Cameron Carlile

Cameron, love your time machine! Hope the June trip goes well, and if I'm in town, let's plan for a meetup.

Camping shouldn't be about hurry hurry, faster this faster that.

You’re right. I actually relish the first few moments of getting into camp after a long day. That first moment to slow down is unlike the others that follow. I’ll admit that my desire to have quicker setups and takedowns is most valuable on these longer trips where we are somewhere different each of the 10 days. Your comment reminds me to take more lower stress trips.

No. But setting up and tearing down camp reduces time spent hanging out, enjoying nature, drinking a pop, hunting, wheeling or whatever you're out there to do.

Are those the Steins mountains! ( may be wrong) I believe they are a wildlife refuge and federally protected. Big Booty Burb is my fav.

I think it’s the ruby range? It’s the series of peaks just SE of Elko.

Why not put a hammock rack on it instead?
@WillometMotorFab11 күн бұрын
You mean hang a hammock from the truck to something else? Friends of mine use hammocks when hiking, but it's kind of a 2 season thing. Curious how you'd see that working.

What mountain range was in the distance at the beginning of the video/epic trip? BTW I dig the name of your Burb.
@WillometMotorFabАй бұрын
That’s the range just east of Elko NV. Beautiful country. Also, which nickname is your fave? The truck has earned a few over its many decades.

It's Called "Camping" ! Im Sure the same type of City Slicker that renamed Camping into 😅 overlanding has got to be kin to the same City slicker that made up bunny's for Easter !! I mean Really WTF 👎👎

I grew up camping. In fact, I remember saying something exactly like that at the start of the video, and again at the end. 👍

@WillometMotorFab then Why Do You call it overlanding ? As allways trying to $ Sell$ something , Market Something , the in " Word" for today's Campers
@WillometMotorFabАй бұрын
I call it both camping and overlanding so folks that know it by either can participate, and maybe this video might help them find a way to get outdoors. If you’re newer to the channel, you’ll soon learn everything here is about encouragement to learn, do, and act. I hope you get to go camping soon, and that maybe something in this video might be helpful to you in that effort.

One of its greatest advantages. To do that, I’ll have to move my spare to outside on a rear swing out, but it’s on the list of possibilities.
