What’s more is that when he is talking to the unconscious Rinoa and she obviously isn’t responding, he says that it feels like “talking to a wall”, you can almost feel the karmic bitchslap there.
Japanese high teen romances feel so much more genuine and touching than American ones imo 😂

@@xel0710 I didn’t, Garnet selfishly drugging and abandoning him at the end of Disk 1 Lindblum to run back to her psycho mom like an idiot ruins the romance and makes the whole beginning of the game completely pointless, she even has the galls to say that she doesn’t care about him and that “it was his fault” during it.

Final Fantasy IX might be the best Final Fantasy overall in terms in excelling in every field, gameplay, story, atmosphere, secrets to uncover, sidestuff to do and so on. But the one point where it is surpassed is the amazingly well done cinematic presentation of Final Fantasy VIII that touches every heartstring just so damn well. The composure of what we get to see on screen, the camera angles, the music that accompanies it plus this amazingly intriguing story.....that's the point where even FF IX has found its master. Still, both pretty much are the absolute apex of the franchise.

This redition of Eyes on Me is beyond beautiful. Mesmerizing.
Still the best Final Fantasy emotionally and musically. The depictions of the kids growing up in a world that functions on violence for profit and the eternal damage it creates is fantastic. Watching Squall very slowly break out of his emotional incarceration from being shown care, love, attention, affection, and acceptance for who he is instead of what he does is beautiful. These songs still hit me so hard.

Aesthetically, too. That scene where he's crossing the seemingly endless Horizon Bridge is breathtakingly beautiful.

Like father, like son - feeling alone but unable to truly speak up to the one they want the most. Laguna found warmth and love in someone who truly cared for him while Squall went the extra mile to care for someone else who loved him just the same.

That's really profound. They portray communication issues in two totally different ways between the two characters, too (Laguna is frequently shown to be bad with words, whereas Squall just doesn't talk much)
