When this album dropped, Aphex Twin got scared -- and for good reason. His answer, the Richard D. James album, would not have been what it is if this immense debut statement of Squarepusher hadn't been so damned phenomenal, right out of the gate.

Aphex was doing the crazy fast breakbeat/glitch stuff with the Hangable Auto Bulb series in 1995 before anyone knew who Squarepusher was. A bit unfair to say he was 'scared', espeically seeing as he put out an album and an EP on RDJ's label before this. They were mates making the same sort of shit at the same time.
