Hi, Rose! Thanks for the tour......this is my favorite time of the year when we reap the rewards! My secret garden club had a very successful sale last week with a beautiful day for talking gardening with lots of people. Three friends sell all perennials from our yards & this year I grew lots of herbs! The proceeds allow us to choose a garden destination & enjoy a 3-day get-away in October. Last year we travelled to Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia, PA. Take care, Rose , stay healthy & may your beautiful garden prosper! ❤

Thank you so much! Right now it's a treat to even get out of the house, but to be able to get out and talk gardening is very special, indeed!

Beautiful gardens and flowers! That's a weird tomato! Funny you had a hummingbird setting on your tomato cage and the other day I had a beautiful robin.

If you wait too long they are filled with seeds.

Bumble bee needs a drop of honey. Something prevented him from getting strait to the flower he was to work and home. They don’t carry extra fuel. I am excited to have tomato blooms! It is much more cool here. My main job is to find a way to keep the chickens out of MY garden!! Charting/graphing is the best, then a calendar for what you did when. Every marker I have used has failed. 💕

Thanks for the tip! Seeing those first tomato blooms is so exciting. I tried the new Sharpee Extreme markers this year that are advertised to be more UV resistant. Nope. They faded too.

Gramma Rose's Homestead I just re-read and edited my comment so it makes more sense. Late night typos happen! Most years I don’t try very hard to mark my plants because I grow mostly the same varieties. But sometimes you want or need to know. If I find a method that doesn’t take more time than actually gardening, I will share. 8 )

Can you explain what chickens do to tomatoes, I never heard of them doing that.
@GrammaRosesHomestead4 жыл бұрын
They eat them!
@lilolmecj4 жыл бұрын
Joi Stevens the cute bi!ches will scratch them to death, eat them, usually when they are almost ripe, and jus gene rally cause chaos. I love them but they’re very rough on gardens. I continue o seek ways to allow them to be free nd me to be able to have a garden!

How do you cook your lemon squash?
@GrammaRosesHomestead4 жыл бұрын
Just like any yellow squash.
@thegrowinggardener4 жыл бұрын
Lovely! What are lemon squash like? Never heard of them. I read that tomatillos often fall off the plant and to just gather them and store them until ripe. Jess says ground cherries fall off when ripe, so maybe there similar?
@GrammaRosesHomestead4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, this ended up in my "likely spam" folder and I just now saw it. Lemon squash taste just like yellow squash either crookneck or straightneck, so just substitute it in summer squash recipes. If you leave them on the plant a little longer, the skin will turn a deeper yellow and you'll begin to see stripes. At that point, you can cut the top off, scoop out the seeds, and bake it stuffed. The recipe I use was for stuffed zucchini that I copied from Gourmet Magazine back in the 70's, but I imagine any stuffed summer squash recipe would be delicious.
