The final part of the 11th January 1990 gig filmed at Newcastle City Hall. Annie Get Your Gun with Tempted over the credits. I wonder whether the sound recordist Paul Gunn is the same Paul Gunn who was their drummer before Gilson?

Glen could sing the boring laws of any state, and I’d still be intrigued.

Hi! Yeah it's a great gig. I have got "Annie" but overlooked it when I uploaded the rest. Will add it soon. I've met Glenn a couple of times and a really nice bloke he is too! Once I had the honour of playing "Take me I'm Yours" and "Goodbye Girl" onstage with him, and a couple of years back I was sound engineer for one of his gigs. I've also met Chris, John Bentley and Matt Irving but I sound like a name dropper so I won't say any more! Cheers Nick

@babaradio Well, Chris Difford recently did a lovely set on Songwriter's circle which was broadcast on BBC4 a couple of night's ago from a gig which was recorded in London a few weeks back. I last saw him live in my home town back in the summer where he did an intimate performance of his new album in front of 25 people in a room the size of my living room which was wonderful. Glenn still does his solo gigs, Gilson is the resident drummer on Later.... with Jools Holland, since 1995.......!

Hi Sue, Yes that's what I like about Mr GT and Squeeze. I first saw them on TV when Take Me I'm Yours was in the charts and not long after, Cool for Cats. Then I forgot all about them until I saw THIS gig on TV in 1990. I bought the video (this one) soon after and became a fan! It was called "A Round and A Bout" and has never been issued on DVD (at least not in the UK). I have the rest of it queued for upload which I'll do soon. Glad you like it! All the best. Nick

I always wished I could sing like Glenn Tilbrook. Gotta give up smoking these Black & Milds first though. Cost me a good high octave.

This video would be perfect if it weren't for the digital audio pops near the end of the song
@nickhirst9995 жыл бұрын
Hi Lou, when you say "digital audio pops" do you mean the audio dropouts ie glitches in the audio? If so, they were there right from the beginning in the VHS tape which I bought brand new from HMV back in the early 1990s! Like you, I notice these things and it always bugged me but I just never got round to taking it back and besides I thought it was highly likely to be a manufacturing defect which would have affected a whole batch. Shame they never (to my knowledge) issued it on DVD!
@loublackvideo5 жыл бұрын
@@nickhirst999 Yes, dropouts/glitches. Ancient VHS tapes? Yes, that explains it. Fantastic video btw, and that song was always one of my favorites. I saw them perform this song live last week, and they had the same energy level as your 1990 video. Never having seen them live before last week, I never realized that Glenn Tilbrook was such a great lead guitar player, I always figured they had some session musician fill in for the studio recordings.

Know exactly what you mean! Believe it or not, I was doing the sound for Glenn at a one off gig he did nearly six years ago and he blagged a ciggy off me! Couldn't believe it! Think it was a Silk Cut extra mild though!! Lol!
