Wow ! such a small nodule and then a perfectly preserved large ammonite enclosed - considering the size of the stone. I wish some of those flattened ammonites were 3D for you . Good warning ⚠️ keep away from the dangerous cliffs that are liable to fall suddenly and without warning! The video film 🎥 of the fence hanging down the cliffs shows you how you must keep away from the edge of the cliffs too - as you pointed out so well!

Wow, that pyritized combo specimen at 3:22, although a partial, would have definitely been a keeper for me! I thought it had lovely character and aesthetics. I was so sorry to see you leave it behind.

In response to suggestions, personally I love to see something go from found on a beach, to finished specimen. More specifically the satisfying and tedious task of cleaning and preparing. Love the content. 👍🏻

What are the rules for picking fossils in those areas, can you use a battery operated angle grinder with a diamond blade? Or is it strictly hand tools and what you can pick up with your hands? Because some of those pyrited fossils on the flats, even if not in great condition, had some really nice features.

If it's loose rock you can take it but you can't cut into bedrock especially in SSSI Sites of scientific interest so the items in the flats or cliffs shouldn't be touched

I’m now tasked with labelling and sorting specimens in my school now! I was very surprised with the specs mine they posses! Tons of large herbivorous mammal teeth, plesiosaur and ichthyosaur vertebrae, tons of bivalves, gryphea and ammonites, it’s great! A little concerned with a random block of lead sitting at the bottom of the box ( I’m pretty sure it’s lead, very heavy compared to its size, very soft and malleable ( it’s heavily scarred ) and is very dull )

@@VooV830 heyy thank you! Once I get my official channel set up I’ll be able to get a lot more educational content out ( and hopefully some other stuff like fundraising for homeless, Ukraine and Turkey. I’ve somehow been convinced to jump out of a plane for this but it should be good fundraising content! 😁

My bucket list includes finding a ammonite worthy of my collection. A squid would be nice also. Must travel for this from central California due to material is too young.

What's a 'scoot' on the croc?
@k.jespersen6145
@k.jespersen6145 Жыл бұрын
I think it's actually spelled "scute." They're sort of bony plates providing internal structure without being fully linked into the rest of the skeleton, as far as I can tell.

@@k.jespersen6145 scutes are also the belly scales of snakes, because the way they are designed grips the ground giving them traction.
