What about all the guys in the Port Norlunga FB page who have been saying for weeks they have been sand dredging further south and the water is all cloudy and the squid are off the bite... Whats your thoughts on the water clarity/squid fishing now you been there and seen it??

Also a 2500 reel for squid?? Bro you fishing for squid or bait?? We run 4000's so we can lift a near 2 kg squid from a jetty like Ardrossan thats a bit higher up from the water. The larger the spool and longer the handle, the better winching power. And who uses DRAG for squid?? Bloke, I should take you with me to one of my fav YP jetties and show ya what real squid fishing is. I fish til I bag out then go home. Never not bagged out on a proper squid trip. Throw a tommie or garfish/mullet ect on a teaser handline, drift it out 35 meters or so and cast your lure around it on either side and you draw the odd squid in range to the teaser then catch it off the teaser as well as the ones you hook while casting ya lure. It will DOUBLE your catch rate if you go to a really squidy jetty, And adelaide local jetties suck for squid. Head to Yorkes bro for next vid.

I wouldn’t go any larger than a 2500 reel for squid, anything above is over kill in my opinion. Most serious egi anglers carry a landing net or gaff to land larger models of squid. You will pull candles with tight drag so best to let them pulse and most importantly enjoy the fight which some of the big models can produce! Also using an egi specific rod the guides need ultra light braid which allows you to cast incredibly far and have that finese style most anglers love! See where you’re coming from, appreciate the comment mate. Definitely got yorks on the list!
