Plus you get a new chance to win in this 6 nations tournament every year. WHEREAS France got ROBBED in the WORLD CUP that even World Rugby ITSELF recognize they did 3 mistakes in refereeing against France. And France were ACTUALLY COMPETING TO WIN THE WORLD CUP. AND THE WORLD CUP IS ONCE EVERY 4 YEARS. SO NO, ITALY DIDNT GET ROBBED WORSE THAN FRANCE DURING THE WC. CURB YOUR FACTS.

because he's more of a hype analyst really, I like Squidge (for the most part), but he tends to over-analyse a lot of situations. I really love how you're pointing out Italy's great dummy lines in the build up to the try. These believable dummy runs were missing the last two years. Like we had runners, but even as an amateur, you could see from a mile away they were only going through the motions and never expected to get the pass, which in turn makes it very difficult to play expansive ball in hand rugby. This is what we were missing and together with the improved defense, it really seems like we finally have built a rounded game capable of winning matches

Just a few things. Italy's defence was brilliant, utterly brilliant. Last time I saw a defence being that efficient, it was from the Springboks. It felt like they were doing what England was trying to do. But better. The way that Italian team just seemed to "click" all of a sudden out of nowhere says a lot about their head coaches. The current one, of course. And their former one as well... Seeing France struggle with their changes in the coaching staff makes the soon-to-be return of the Springboks with brand new coaches all the more interesting. Wonder if we'll see them struggle, like France, or immediately find their rythm, like Italy ! Also, Squidge, shame on you ! You offer up a NordVPN discount weeks after I bought my subscription ! It is almost impossible for any team to improve when they are being beaten in every game, but kicking Italy out of the 6 nations is not the answer. We need to expand rugby and the World Cup showed there are some Tier 2 teams with huge potential. I think we should expand the 6 Nations to 8 teams, split into 2 pools. each team plays the others in their pool once, with the top 2 from each pool going into a knock out phase semi final and final to decide the winner of the championship. The bottom 2 teams in both pools also go into a knock out phase to win a Plate competition. The losers of the semi finals in both the championship and the plate go into a 3rd/4th place game to sort the seedings for next season with the loser of the 3rd/4th place plate competition drops out of the competition for the next season to be replaced by the winners of the Rugby Europe International Championship This format would take no longer to play than the current championship with teams playing the same number of games. It gives all teams a number of winnable games each season to develop and improve and provides a route into high profile competition to every team in Europe. Teams like Romania, Portugal, Spain, Georgia and others would benefit hugely from this.

> What is wrong with France right now ? Well nothing is wrong with french national team, I would say thing are going pretty smoothly in comparison of how the national team plays. France should be last with zero point but somehow is third. The state of french national team was expected as the outcome of France results in the last world cup. France gameplay up to world cup was a huge effort from clubs, player and federation to make it happend. France lost in a very controversial game and all actors are quite cross by it for very different reason and overall champagne rugby can't be performed if those three don't play hand in hand. - Clubs, who don't care about international competition, want their player back and don't want to here from national team until in 4 years. - Players don't think World Rugby is an organisation worthy to waste time in regards of numerous controversial games that happend during last World Cup and more importantly how it was handled. - Federation is bankrupt because World Cup costed them way more than they managed to get back. Also with Dupont/Ntamac most likely joinning back the squad only for next year competition, France is more in a situation where the creative pair has to adapts to system not build for their game style, than a team build around them... obviously that situation impacts greatly performance.

I think it's actually been the case for some time. I rewatched a few 2023 RWC games, including some of the French ones, and the Bokke-France quarter final. Before that quarter final, I thought the level of physicality and intensity that was thrown at the French was a bit, let's say....underwhelming. Namibia and Italy were pushovers and crumbled all over the place, and the All Blacks were trying running rugby more than anything, as is their wont. But the Bokke smashed them. And kept smashing them. And again, and again, and again. And by the end of the match, I could swear Jesse Kriel or Pieter-Steph Du Toit, who had played like 70 minutes up to that point, had more energy and aggressiveness than the French forwards who had come from the bench like 15 minutes before. Pretty bad analysis. Yes, Italy did well and should have won ultimately. However, the story is that of French mistakes and inefficiency in the first half. Play that game 20 times and 19 of these France will be 30 points up by halftime. I am glad to see Italy do well, but your narrative is missing the point
